Credit to Taskrabbit for doing right by us. Watch out for scam takers. Don’t be afraid to send a tasker home if they cause a safety liability in your home.

Sure. We hired a tasker to install curtain rods, and stated in the listing that the height was 8-10 feet. When the tasker showed up without a ladder, I asked how he could do it. He said he has something he can stand on, which turned out to be a canvas cart with wheels that do not lock. My wife and I saw this as a safety hazard for which we would have been liable, and so we did not allow him to do it. We asked him to leave at which point he became violent and threatening in our home. I almost had to call the police. Based on the reaction, we believe the intent was to set up an injury and then sue us.

Every time I hear a story like this, I think of a guy that must be from a country where this kind of thing is totally normal. Then I think, why would you bring a guy like this into your home?

And then I realize he must be real cheap and I raise my prices again.

That's unacceptable and foolish. You did the right thing. Sorry you had to deal with that, and i apologize on his behalf because that is lunacy.

Hope you reported him. That is just reckless and unprofessional to even attempt something like that then throw a fit about it. Even I don’t have a ladder and stay away from tasks that need it (Less risk and liability for me).
