PSA Small Tasks, Life-Changing Impact: Introducing Neighbor Helping Neighbor
Neighbor Helping Neighbor is a program of the Greater Taylor Community Foundation, built on a simple belief: every neighbor in Taylor deserves to live safely, confidently, and with dignity. We support older adults and those facing financial and/or physical hardship by mobilizing trained volunteers, strengthening neighborhood networks, and filling gaps in service so that you can remain independent and connected in the home and community you love. We support Taylor residents as well as those in surrounding communities.
Whether you need help with yard work, home repairs, debris removal, a wheelchair ramp, a safety or wellness check, or a connection to other local resources, our volunteers are ready to lend a hand -- safely and respectfully.
If you would like to apply, for yourself or for a friend or neighbor, contact [getinvolved@greatertaylor.org](mailto:getinvolved@greatertaylor.org). You can also pick up a paper application at St. James Episcopal church at 7th & Davis. Our cooling center in the parish hall will be open Monday, Wednesday and Friday from noon to 6:00pm thru September 4th.

If someone sees this random transient, hobo whatever you want to call me tomorrow and wants to hook me up an ice cold slushies next door, let me know. I've been out here for well over a month now. I'm right across the park. Sleeping on this bench.

Local Events Call for volunteers!
St. James Episcopal church at 7th & Davis is hosting a cooling center for the next few weeks and needs volunteers. Job is to be present so people can come inside and cool off, charge equipment and be chill. It's a good time for volunteers who want to read or work remotely or have their own quiet time.
Shifts are 12-2pm, 2-4pm, 4-6pm. Please check this schedule to sign up for open shifts:

Once you're signed up, please DM me and I will get you set up with the door key code. Anyone with questions, please DM me.
Thanks!
EDIT to add: if anyone needs a quiet place to cool off and have a snack during the center's open hours, please come by! We will be open M-W-F from 12pm to 6pm. The center is in the parish hall next door to the old church at 7th and Davis.

Was anyone else aware of this project? Really feels like the city is hiding stuff from citizens until it's too late to do anything 😡
