REQUEST Powerful/clean chorus work

I'm looking for technical, and/or progressive death metal with powerful clean choruses, melodic clean sections, and/or acoustic intros, interludes, etc...

Some similar examples of what I'm looking for would be Allegaeon: "Dark Matter Dynamics, Proponent for Sentience III: The Extinction, Of Beasts and Worms", Rivers of Nihil: "House of Light, The Sub-orbital Blues, Water and Time" Omnivide: "Arise, Void, Tyrannical Savior", In Mourning: "North Star", Borknagar: "Moon, Stars Ablaze".

Have I pretty much exhausted the options out there? I'm coming up with very little else. Any suggestions will be appreciated.

Persefone is really, really good prog. I remember hating Aathma on the first listen, then it quickly became my favorite album from them.

They've actually been in my queue for a while based on comments I've read in other threads. They will be part of my playlist on my way to work tomorrow. 🍻

I love Spiritual Migration for its raw energy and speed. Though from a progressive DM pov, Aathma takes the cake for me. Stillness is Timeless and Aathma Pt 3 are chefs kiss, the whole album beginning to end is a masterpiece.

I second Persefone all the way. Except for me The Majestic of Gaia is their greatest song. And one of the best songs ever. Fucking masterpiece

Definitely Black Crown Initiate, Rivers of Nihil’s new lineup includes their clean vocalist

Thank you. I do like a small handful of their songs. They probably should have been included in my reference songs, but I didn't want to go too wild.

Much of the recent Fallujah album does this

Fit for an Autopsy for something more deathcore oriented but they definitely have great clean chrouses like on Hostage

I'll have to check out the latter. Thanks for the recommendation there.

But I only found 2 songs on Fallujah's new album that I liked. "In Stars We Drown" I liked enough to keep, and I really like "Kaleidescopic Waves." I've hated every single song they've ever put out other than those 2. I never understood the appeal.

So you really like one of their newest songs... but hate all the rest that honestly, sound just like it? Ok buddy

If you like Borknagar, I think you'll really enjoy the new Stormkeep album. More black than death metal, but the clean parts there are insane(and everything else too. Their vocalist is the drummer for Blood Incantation.

That definitely has my interest. I'll be checking them out for sure.

I'm really not too concerned with keeping it exclusively to prog or tech. I just like a lot of those elements. I listen to most of the 1 million sub-genres of metal.

Give Slice the Cake - Odyssey to the West a listen more in the progressive deathcore realm but it itches the scratch for me.

Also check out our album: Exuvial - The Hive Mind Chronicles Part I: Parasitica
as it has a lot of those elements you’re looking for!

Do it OP.... that shameless self promotion is completely warranted, that Exuvial album is a masterpiece.

Alluvial Death is but a Door is one of my favorite clean chorus songs

I'm definitely going to check out every recommendation here. I just need to wait until the weekend to dive in. Working 4 - 12s this week and I don't do mobile streaming.

You mentioned Allegaeon already, but I love Stancels cleans during the chorus of Wake Circling Above. It almost makes up for Riley leaving the band.

Mike definitely has an interesting voice. I definitely love it in Wake Circling Above. I hate not hearing Riley's cleans though. He is a great vocalist. His voice covering "Subdivisions" and "Roundabout" was amazing. It just made me want Allegaeon to work in more clean chorus work.

I want to thank everyone for the recommendations. I WILL get to them, but it'll be the weekend before I get to a lot of them. I'm working 4 - 12's this week and I don't do mobile streaming. But, friday... I'll be listening all day long while doing yard work.
