Rewatching Ted Lasso for the fourth time and while there’s several other bits that are absolutely hilarious (“YOU SPOKE TO GOD?!”, “THEY’RE TAKING HIS HOUSE?!”, etc.), I find myself laughing at this Dani Rojas moment A LOOOT more for some reason. Just look at the guy ahahahhaa I love him. (Also pls don’t spoil S4 I’m waiting for the entire thing to come out before I can watch it)

I was watching episode 2 of season one today. Ted meets Keeley and she asks the Panda or Lion question to Rebecca. Rebecca blows her off then answers in an intimidating way. Keeley expresses how nervous Rebecca makes her and how she is intimidated by her as a powerful woman.

Then we get to Season 4 and Keeley is raring to go talk to Zelda Southport. She loves the way she is larger than life. Keeley has grown up and is no longer an intimidated little rabbit.

I have seen a lot of people saying Keeley lost her way or had no growth but I think this exemplifies that growth. I don't know what kind of influence Zelda will have on Keeley but I like that Keeley is ready to find out for herself.

So, I've been watching and enjoying season 4 so far and just finished watching episode 4 a couple days ago with my parents. One thing I've noticed about the women's team so far is that we do not yet know who the captain is and I think its going to Lizzie.

From day one, when we first met Lizzie at the tryouts, what first impressed the coaches was her ability to deal with the constantly bickering twins Niamh and Siobhan. It felt kind of remenicent of when Isaac in 1x7 when he nudges his teammate to get off his phone while they're watching Iron Giant and Roy notices and it sets up Roy's eventual passing of the torch in matters of leadership.

Later in episode 4, when the cliques are arguing, Lizzie tries to sort everyone out she tries to mediate and validate everyone's feelings then when Gemma starts mouthing off Lizzie stands her ground and tries to put Gemma in her place. This demonstrates that she is willing to use both stick and carrot = willing to listen but not willing to be pushed around.

At the trivia night, when her team couldn't think of a name, Lizzie was giving all her teammates a fair go and trying to get them to vote and then takes charge when faced with their indisivness.

But what really made me think Lizzie was going to be the Captain was when Ted told the lady greyhounds that they were going to run back to Maeve's and help clean up. Lizzie wasn't happy either at first, but she was the first one to speak up and lead the pack.

The corolations between Lizzie being a mum and how she treats her teammates when they act like kids is a bit of a running joke but it also speak to the nature of how Lizzie's skills as a mother can be applied in a way that helps the team.

The fact that she's a little older and thus more experienced in life than most of the Greyhounds gives her a season 1 Roy vibe but not one that focuses entirely on drill sergeant leadership.

So that is my theory on why Lizzie will be the captain of the Greyhounds.

I’ve been painting the Princes Head (“Crown and Anchor”) in watercolor and ink for the last few days and I’m proud so sharing for other fans. It’s not quite done yet but it’s been so fun to work on so far!

I can't believe I didn't know that Anthony Head passed away in June. 🥺

This is just for a bit of fun, but. When Ted was congratulating the girls and we see where the cliques are. Ted congratulates Lizzy and the twins on helping Boots get her first clean sheet. Now we know Ted would not be insensitive enough to not name another defender so we know they play 3 at the back. We also know what a big deal it was when the woman in the second episode got pregnant as they now have no strikers.
Jemma joins the team and there is no mention of any other striker joining. So the implication from all that is the formation is a 3-6-1
I mostly only watch football during the World cup and the Euros, but this seams like a very crowded mid field. So I was curious as to if this is a viable/good formation.
Like I implied at the top the show is about the relationships and not a realistic show about football so this is just for a bit of fun :)

I think the team will win the whole thing first season out, but will have an indifferent public and likely still lose money to the point Rebecca will be seriously considering shutting the whole thing down. Or perhaps they win but their league collapses.

Of course I’d like to see the women’s team surpass the earnings and viability of the men and everything come up roses, but if this is season 1(4) of 3(6) I think the hardship has just started. :(

Okay, might be a reach but it hit pretty hard when watching 9 to 5 (love you Dolly!!!) recently. In the movie, the boss has a chair that malfunctions (twice?) in much the same way as Lasso’s. Both deal with men managing an organization of women that would likely be better managed by a woman.

Though I haven't been a huge fan of Keeley's overall direction and character this season, I *did* like how this scene was handled.

Rebecca knows she messed up not telling Keeley about the report (and many other things.) She weirdly runs to her bedroom to collapse in her bed (couldn't text from the car or even the foyer?) to ask IN A TEXT for forgiveness.

But Keeley isn't even dignifying her text with a reply. Just a Thumbs Up.

So she tries to buy Keeley back with Hermes.

I loved Keeley's reply NOT just because it was a moment of showing her to be the character we want to see after 6 years of growth.

In Season 3, Rebecca warned Keeley to be wary of anyone who tries to buy her affection and forgiveness with gifts.

In Season 4, Rebecca does just that.

And Keeley, without throwing it in her face, thanks her and makes it very clear that she's ready to be mature about this and move on...but she will not be bought off. Instead, she would rather Rebecca invest in the team. Even if that means reimbursing Keeley for doing so.

Adding that she was very busy the night before reading the report cover-to-cover (possibly also explaining why she just gave Rebecca a thumbs-up to her message. She didn't want to talk to Rebecca until she fully understood what they were going to be talking about.)

The (over simplified so that this post can remain relatively short in the hopes that people read the whole thing) theory that women can’t lead because of emotions - I think the bulk of humanity knows that’s BS. Rebecca is taking on the practical business role, while still maintaining her friendship with Keeley. My HOPE is that Zelda is there to show that a person can lead with emotion as well. She obviously has the practical knowledge after learning she invented and patented the claw clip following her ex-husband’s theft of the banana clip. Keeley doesn’t need to choose one over the other. She can do both and by doing both, we discover that her success, and thusly the team’s success, will be magnified.

Ted Lasso and Schitt’s Creek both live in a heightened fantasy bubble. There is absolutely no one in Schitt’s Creek that gives a rats ass about David being bi-sexual. It was never a storyline at all in the show, unless you count Wanda being completely oblivious. Ted Lasso lives in a world where a whole locker room of men are totally cool and supportive of Colin coming out. A whole locker room of men who delete nude pics and videos off their phones following the leak of Keeley’s video in solidarity. I like escaping to these bubbles. It part of why both shows are great. So, I hope the great Tracey Ullman is not here to try to pop that bubble. Fingers crossed.

So does anyone not think Roy’s going to date the doctor ….

Before it implodes in 2-4 episodes?

Basically if Roy and Keeley are Ted’s version of Ross and Rachel is the doctor going to be their Emily?

Just rewatched ep4. I can't figure out her ulterior motive, if she's even got one or is even going to be a recurring character (guessing yes), but is anybody else getting intense Keith Richards vibes?

The scene outside of the karaoke bar in Liverpool where Sassy and Rebecca is one of my favorites in this series yall.

“No. Rupert is a horrible man who built an ivory tower he kept you captive in. But you climbed every single step of that tower on your own. You're the one who stopped coming home, stopped calling, who made a six-year-old girl wonder what she'd done wrong. I'll always be your biggest defender, but you have to own up to the part that you played.”

I loooove this quote. I was a victim of domestic violence and my case was far more extreme than Rebecca’s and this is something I really appreciated and reflects many conversations I’ve had with friends about their abusive relationships.

To be clear, abuse is never the victims fault. Rebecca isn’t at fault and she is not to blame. Rupert is the problem.

That being said, any person leaving an abusive relationship needs to do this kind of self reflection. An abuser won’t go for a healthy person, and even if they did, a healthy person would leave them before it even got serious. There were things in me that I needed to confront and heal that led me to be in the position to not only be abused, but even fall for a person like my abuser.

This scene does such a good job of framing that internal work that Rebecca needs to do. And I think Sassy was a good friend for saying this.

I mean it’s hardly surprising they visited (Ted in season one)

It's my first time watching and I'm currently halfway through season 3. I have to just say that the Nate storyline is starting to get to me. Nate was a kit man at Richmond and would have stayed that way if Ted didn't elevate him to assistant coach. He returned that act of kindness by turning on him, snitching to Trent Crimm about Ted having panic attacks, tearing the "BELIEVE" sign in half, betraying Rebecca by going to work for Rupert, and dragging Ted publicly at his inaugural press conference. Now the writers want us to root for him and Jade? I don't want Nate to have a love life. I want him to get humbled, remain friendless and alone, and to suffer at least a tiny bit for turning on the people who supported him. I'm fully hoping that the writers will either wreck Nate or make me root for him by the end but I just had to rant.
