Static electricity + PC's + Reddit = Same outcome every time

Would it have been okay to remove it during the build?

It should've been peeled when it was not plugged in to anything.

probably not, LCS screens are pretty shock resistant and that doesn't look like a ajckk but a gradual build. power cycling the screen probably fixed it although honestly think it looks more loose connection then static.

Some semiconductors are more susceptible to static electricity when plugged in, due to latch-up risk. Basically temporary short circuit causing local overheating, which may happen only if power is applied. To exit latch-up need to power cycle, but damage due to overheating may already be done to some transistors.

those saying static may be right but not for the normal reasons (although could just as easily be a loose connection). static is bad for PCs when it discharges because it can produce damaging current directly into sensitive components. PCD screens are not sensitive and the pump head likely produces more static just by running that that peel ever did.

I saw someone once thought they were peeling off the protective shipping film and it ended up being the actual film part of the screen and completely ruined it.

Removing cling film that may cause static from your cooler while your computer is on. What a silly thing to do ...
