Lexa
How was she able to be Anya’s second, when all night bloods trained in Polis?

I always thought Anya trained Lexa between 6-12, Madi & Clarke was ment to mirror them.
It might have been like 3 months in Polis (to learn like educational stuff.) and 3 months in the villages (to learn practical stuff. Like how to hunt. and be in charge of ppl)
Lexa could have also recalled the nightbloods to polis when she realized the tension between the clans.

and since constant warfare between tribes, you'd have to think, taking out a nightblood be a priority (especially if your tribe has a nightblood) ... so, Lexa needed a trikru teacher, that be Anya
idk if it was story or fiction, forgot which but my assumption, Lexa/Anya/Indra, etc are all Trikru .... Lexa's closet commanders were ALL Trikru which seems to make her from that tribe too

seems like children trained in Polis ... when of a certain age, needed to actually be in the field, actually killing/fighting (remember constant war, no peace till Lexa took control) & for that, needed an actual warrior, guess that was Anya

I figured that a part of nightblood training involved some time as an apprentice to get experience with leadership, lie doing work experience on a college course

The Nightblood fight to the death happens around age 12, right? At least for her? Maybe nightbloods can, if they choose to, shadow an experienced leader for a time. Or like others are suggesting, Nightbloods shadow someone for experience with leading and being in battle before the final test.
I would really LOVE a prequel just about her rise to power.

Probably before she was discovered
