Remote Starter in a CaR

How necessary is it to get a remote starter in a car in thunder bay? I see most of the cars in here have remote starter installed so I was wondering if I should get one installed in my Car ( VW Jetta 2015 Tdi)? Also, how much will it cost me if i decide to get it installed also, is it possible to install it myself ?

Best place to buy a laptop?

Long story short. My computer is probably about 15 years old or more and it's been getting more slow. I don't know how much longer it might go on so decided to start saving up some money for a laptop (Was starting to for a Switch 2 but this is more important and I'm in no rush to getting the latter).

So I wanted to ask what places here in the city is best to get one and at what lowest prices?

Used Car Buying Advice

Hey everyone, I’m looking to buy my first car and could really use some advice from people who know the Thunder Bay used-car market.

My budget is around $10,000, and I’m mainly looking for something reliable that I can keep for several years without constantly worrying about expensive repairs. I’ve been looking at Toyota RAV4s, Honda CR-Vs, and Mazda CX-5s, preferably AWD because of the winters here.

I’ve been checking Facebook Marketplace and contacting dealerships, but I’m finding it surprisingly difficult to find something that seems like a good balance of price, mileage, condition, and reliability. A lot of the cheaper SUVs I’ve come across have significant rust, high mileage, or are from models/brands I’m less confident about.

Since this will be my first car, I’m also leaning toward an SUV rather than a sedan. The street where I live doesn’t always get cleared quickly during heavy snow, so I’m worried about getting stuck, especially since I’ll be driving through the winter.

I’m not necessarily looking for something fancy—I’d honestly be happy with an older, well-maintained vehicle if it’s mechanically solid and likely to be reliable.

For those of you who have bought used cars in Thunder Bay, am I approaching this the wrong way? Are there any dealerships, mechanics, websites, or specific models/years you would recommend looking at? And is a ~$10k budget realistic for what I’m looking for?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

How bad is the trans canada coming from Manitoba

I drove out to BC in May before the fires, but now I see on Google maps multiple wildfires right up to the highway, is it still safe to drive in from the west?
