360 camera parking

Recently I had BMW 3 series with 360 camera, and Mercedes E Class, and I gotta say Tiguan's 360 camera experience is easily the worst. Despite having huge display, you can hardly notice that you have 360 camera on your display somehow, and I seriously don't understand why it's not activated as soon as I slow down and start parking/or as soon as the sensors are on? Is there any way to turn this on? Also sensors menu is really small, yowhat's the point of huge display if you can hardly notice sensors activation on it, it's on left small part of the display. Completely stupid stuff from VW.

Also back camera is temu quality, embarassing stuff.

I like the car overall, but there are some really stupid details about it that makes me hate it.

Panoramic Moon Roof Making Terrible Noise

Post image
1 Upvotes

2024 Tiguan Highline R-Line. Since the summer started I’ve been having this terrible noise come from the panoramic moon roof right where I took the photo (passenger front corner). It never did this last summer so I find it hard to believe it’s temperature related. Something must be loose or rubbing. Any time I hit an uneven bump or dip in the road it creaks loudly in this spot. I can reproduce it by pushing on the plastic frame of the glass in the corner. I have taken a look at the sun roof mechanism multiple times and I cant seem to find where it’s coming from. Everything works normally and the moon roof looks flush with the car.

I know it’s the moon roof because when it’s tilted or open the noise goes away. I haven’t taken it to the dealer yet because they’re usually useless when it comes to diagnosing noises. I get the usual spiel of we can’t reproduce it and we don’t want to take it apart. Has anyone ever dealt with this and knows what it could be? I’m trying to research before taking it to the dealer. Thank you!

My horn all is a sudden sounds like a squeaky chicken.. Is it safe to assume there's two horns and one went bad? Is it easy to replace?

2026 Front View Assist

So Tiggy still in the shop for this fix. They thought it was my radar detector on windshield causing the issue. Turns out not the case and they had to order a new $3,000 radar part for the vehicle. Thankfully under warranty. Should be getting it back Friday. Anyone else go through this?

2026 Comfortline vs. Comfort Line Black Edition

Hi, I'm in rural Nova Scotia, Canada - really like the look of the Black Edition but worried about the 20" low profile wheels vs. the 18" wheels with bigger sidewalls. Mainly drive gravel and secondary roads with lots of potholes. Have never had a vehicle with low profile wheels - am I crazy?

*VW tech in L.A. area*

Hey everyone, figured I'd introduce myself since I'll be hanging around the VW forums.

I'm a veteran Volkswagen dealership technician. I've been working on VWs since 2002 and currently work as a technician at a Volkswagen dealership in the San Fernando Valley.

After 20+ years in the trade, I've seen just about everything these cars can throw at you. I'm here to share some knowledge, help with diagnosing problems, and hopefully save fellow VW owners some time and money.

For anyone local to Los Angeles or the San Fernando Valley, I also offer my services outside the dealership for roughly half the typical dealership cost, depending on the job.

I'm not here to spam anyone with advertisements. If you have a VW question, feel free to ask. If I can help, I'm happy to share what I know.

20+ years wrenching on and owning Volkswagens. Glad to be part of the community!

Volkswagen Protection Plus

Hi everyone, I’m financing a new 2026 Tiguan, and the dealership has 4 optional protection plans. I’m debating about the base plan (economy - about $30 extra/month on payments), which includes:

Mechanical breakdown protection 84 months, 14,000kms, $100 deductible
- coverage against unexpected costs resulting from mechanical failures, includes parts and labour on covered components
- includes 24-hour roadside assistance, car rental benefit, trip interruption, and is transferable

Appearance protection 84 months
- Protects interior and exterior surfaces
- A combined $10,000 allowance for Interior Rips, Paintless Dent Removal, and Head/Light Taillight replacement
- $1,000 allowance for Paint Repair
- Unlimited windshield glass chip fill-ins, $1,000 credit towards windshield replacement
- $5,000 allowance towards Rims and Tires
- 2 key fob replacements.

Has anyone purchased the economy protection plan for their Tiguan or any Volkswagen and found it worth it, particularly if insurance wouldn’t cover anything? Were there any issues in trying to claim anything under the plan?

Wifi/Carnet not working

So I have a 22 R Line and was having issues with the wifi showing a connection but not actually connecting. Also noticed it hadn’t updated in the myVW app around the same time. I did all the fuse tricks and battery with no success. Called VW and they said it was more then 10 days offline auto send to the dealership. They had it for 3 days with no fix and said they were waiting for VW corporate to resolve the issue. Friday will be 4 weeks since I picked it up with no fix. Anyone else go through this? Did it take this long or do I have one of those dealerships?

New sound started 10 minutes ago. Noticed it after a quick 5 drive...took another 8 minute drive and same thing. Sound is similar to a " personal" alarm. 2013 Tiguan 160k miles.

2023 Tiguan GPS/CarPlay issue?

My girlfriend has a 2023 Tiguan and uses Apple CarPlay. Every once in a while, the GPS completely freaks out on both Google Maps and Apple Maps and shows the car in the wrong location.

It happens with my phone too, so I don’t think it’s the apps. Anyone else have this issue or know what might be causing it? It’s pretty frustrating because she’s missed exits because of it.

My new 2020 Tiguan SEL!

Post image

Originally I went to look at a 2024 TAOS, but the Tiguan caught my eye and was in way better condition cosmetically. Both were certified pre-owned. It was also a few thousand less. Already ordered Weathertech mats and window rain guards. What are some other must have accessories? It's got 62k miles but I have the certified warranty for 2 years or 24k miles as well. I was really impressed with the cargo space it had and all the features for the SEL trim.

Sun Visor Ruined by Drift Air Freshener (?)

Post image

I’ve had air freshener clips on the past, never had an issue. Guess I should have checked Reddit before buying, as I see some similar complaints on here. It seems based on other posts it might smooth itself out a bit with some time. Any advice? Might try to steam it.

2023 Tiguan AWD 40K Service; Dealer or myself?

My 2023 Tiguan is approaching 40K miles and I am wondering if I should take it to dealership for upcoming service.

Dealership has done all work up to 30K. I did self oil change at 35K, should I wait for 50K to take to dealership?

Hole in Intake manifold ?

Hi everyone, new here; I’ve had an issue with the Intake manifold on my 2012 VW Tiguan. It has already been replaced/repaired twice.

I took the cover of today and noticed substantial oil residue / spillage. Car had been playing up and smoking. When I was cleaning the area, I noticed a hole in what I think is the Intake Manifold?

Can anyone confirm the hole is in the intake manifold and advise if this is a common issue. I’ve been told this type of Tiguan only has plastic Manifolds and they melt!

25 Tig SEL brakes have always made the grinding sound the moment I lift off the brake pedal whether I’m stopping or releasing. Very annoying. Anyone else?

2023 Tiguan SE

Really on the fence here about this one. I have a chance to buy out my 23’ Tiguan for roughly $23,000 OTD. My lease is coming to an end soon. About 50k miles mostly driven on a highway for work. Up until now iv had no issues with the car. The car has been well taken care of and iv driven it mostly in economy mode. My one big concern is longevity, and I know these models are known to have oil burning issues down the line. This is a vehicle I’d like to own until the end. Is it worth buying? Another vehicle I’m interested in buying pre-owned is a 23’-25’ Mazda Cx-50. I know i could probably get it for less miles but it will cost me a few thousand more. I am asking you experienced Tiguan owners here who know a lot more about cars than I do. Should I pull the trigger? I like the look and drive of this car. I will point out that my previous lease was a 2020 Tiguan and right before I handed that one back I was told the car was already experiencing engine issues by the dealership. Longevity is really important for me as I drive about 80 miles to work and back 3-4x per week. I just want a low maintenance vehicle and something comfortable as well. Thank you all in advance

25 Tig Sel R line. Amazing MPG on the highway with radar cruise control. I really wish Vw would use the engine from the 2025 Audi Q5e , it’s powerful and very fuel efficient

2018 vs 2026 Tiguan

Test drove a 2026 SE AWD. Trading in my 2018 SE FWD. Power felt exactly the same dispite the added 17 hp. Has anyone else had both models? What was your experience?
