Store Manager
Here at my store, our manager stays at the store from the time we open until the time we close. He never takes his vacations when he’s supposed to because he’s so worried about being at the store! You have to stay on him about making sure he clocks people in if he wants them to come in for extra hours and once the payroll closes for that week, there are people who haven’t been paid for the hours they have worked. For night shifts that he closes, he doesn’t let anyone go home until 10:30 and if another manager is closing, he would be gone from the store but comes right back to make sure they aren’t leaving the store before then. Is anyone else’s store managers like this?!

Poor guy it’s probably his life he’s probably doesn’t have a wife anymore or he’s not married this is only interaction he gets he loves his TJX family

He’s a good 70 years old and still runs around like he’s a teenager. He went out for surgery earlier in the year and came back a month before he was supposed to.

no manager is required to do what this manager is doing, he can still make the same amount of money and not do this lol

It’s not about taking a job serious. Leaving a closing shift and coming back to make sure the team isn’t leaving until 10:30 is fucking absurd. Regardless of livelihood or how much he’s making, get the fuck outta here. And I’m in management so this ain’t coming from an associate.

My manager is like this as well. Most weeks, she works 80 hours. On her days off, she calls and will talk as long as possible to the mod. She just told me the other day that she still has 4 weeks of vacation to take. But we are down 2 managers so she’s probably not going to take them. I told her that the store has never burned down without her before and to go! I also told her that’s why she has a manager and they need to help figure it out so she can go on her vacations. I really like her a lot of the time but sometimes she is just losing her mind and being mean to people.

I had a store manager like this once. He worked himself to death and died around 60 years old.

I would call HR and say you're worried about his mental health. Thats not right at all. One time my old favorite store manager told me this story. She went to a managers meeting one day, all the other managers kept getting calls and texts from their stores to help put out fires and she was just chilling. They kept asking her if she just wasnt answering their texts or if she wasnt getting any. She told them that being the store manager is about teaching your staff how to run the building so they can do it without you. You should only need the store manager for very specific things and outside of those things everyone should know how to do their jobs without being babysat because we arent preschoolers. Moral of the story your manager sounds like a psychopath.

Even when he finally decides to take a day off, he calls the store back to back to back like the other managers don’t know how to do their jobs.

Yeah thats why I said call HR to look into his mental health. That sounds like mental health crisis behavior not normal management behavior.

Same! He barely eats or forgets to eat being also that he is a diabetic. He will start on a task and never finishes it and has things thrown all over the place. Same as people calling out because they know if he closing, you are not getting out of there on time.

Sounds like his job is his life. I feel bad for him, there's more to life than working.
