Pets Snork & Hemulen get a new 40 gallon tank! (Toads in final pic)
galleryFinally upgraded these guys from their holding tub to a proper hub! To the left I have a multi-tier bathing area, with flat ground to make sure their food doesnt dig away and escape. To the right is a nice dirt area where they can hide, burrow, and feel more natural.
Of course the first thing they did was run and hide, but after a week or two Im sure they'l come to love their new accommodations!

Did you know this toad secretes poison to protect itself? 🐸
Meet Oak, our Cane Toad whose shoulder lumps, called parotoid glands, ooze a milky toxin strong enough to stop predators and even kill smaller ones. Cane toads are an invasive species. They were once only found in Central and South America but have been brought to places like Australia, Florida, and the Caribbean to control crop pests. This ended up not being a success and is a good reminder to leave native species where they are.

Wild I have an attachment to my yard toad Betty
I believe now that Betty is a boy. Betty has lived here for one month. Very good toad, hard to get any good pics of. Do they leave in the fall/winter? Betty has needed my help with giving water to cool down.
So this might be controversial to put here but I can’t have a whole habitat. I am new to this and have other pets and hazards. Betty is very small, cute, polite and keeps to himself. He gets along with my pets. Perfect Angel.
The issue is his friends who mostly came much more recently. They are not the same case and are even doing things that can damage the property. They are much more outgoing and it is not a safe place for them to run wild like that. One original one would need rescuing from drowning and would spray venom when I saved him so I didn’t love that. It got out of control and I moved them all to the front yard. Of course, the other two I’m not a fan of were back by the next day or so. Eventually the other day we brought them down to the lake/pond nearby and they happily went back home.
I was so sad and regretful about leaving Betty and hoped he was ok. Apparently 2 came back here today but I only saw one that I believe is Betty. Sometimes I second guess if it’s him but I can usually tell, very small and differently mannered than others. Can I keep Betty here and treat him without having a huge toad party? I just want Betty to live in my yard forever and no one else. I’m sorry but it’s true. I love Betty

Wild My Wild Girl is Gone Ya’ll!
I’m so sad. Remember I told you guys this girl was coming by every single night to her spot on my back porch and I gave her worms and crickets. She was coming every night for the past like three months and she would come out of her little den right here like you can see in the picture. She would wait for it to turn nighttime and then come all the way out. Well she hasn’t been here for the past three nights she always always came and she’s not in her whole den anymore. I’m so sad. I don’t know if something happened to her or what but we miss her so much and we look for her every night.

Pets An American Toad (Black camo pattern) Next to a Leopard Frog
Two of my wonderful pets getting out of their tanks so I could do the monthly cleaning. The Leopard frog kept trying to use Toad as a launching platform to clear the bathtub corner like a little loaded spring escape artist 💚

Introducing BABY TOAD 🫶
An American Toad in a tan-ish color that we found recently. Normally I release whenever I rescue them from around the chicken coops but this one captured my attention. I wanted to try raising this little one.
Baby Toad couldn't manage any of the small Dubia Roaches I had so we made a trip into the city for Black Soldier Fly Larvae from PetCo. There's not much small food available in my area at the moment, and Baby Toad isn't fond of me cutting up anything. Tough dining experience 💔

Tommy the toad?
Hello gorgeous toad enthusiasts. I may have another lil guy to add to this collection. Can anyone help identify him? In South west Tampa bay in Florida. He lives under a concrete step but has access to water and all the critters he pleases. Frog/ toad condom makes his house for those who care enough to go looking ♥️
