Little cat roaming

Little cat roaming around outside the St Thomas Moore School near the Rosie’s vans. Seems friendly not to skittish, healthy enough (seems like a pet not a stray) but has no collar or anything - just in case someone’s lost a cat and isn’t just out on an adventure, I thought I’d post!

What was the go with Tel Azir supermarket?

On the corner of bridge and holburten there was a middle eastern supermarket, well it certainly looked like that. But let’s just say it was an extremely busy shop and the clientele were not what you’d associate with stores like that. Middle aged, white. I see now it’s closed. What was going on there? Smokes?

Wilsonton and Wilsonton Heights - really that bad?

Hi folks,

Long story short, I'm moving to Toowoomba soon, and doing research on where to live. We're far from rich, so cheaper areas look better on paper. But I've also seen 'the map' shared around here, and I don't need any meth, or the result of it.

So, are these areas really that bad?

I've also seen comments saying that patches of suburbs are OK street by street. What's the best way to tell, especially if you're new to the area and don't have a lot of opportunity to observe a place due to the tight rental market? e.g. is it enough to walk down the street and see how well kept the surrounding properties look from the outside?

Where do I find?

Someone to erect some shade cloth over an area about 6 X 6 metres??

I've tried but darn people never turn up to even look at the job! I make a time. No one arrives.

I'm getting really frustrated.

I know it's not a huge job. But surely some handyman type wants and can do this sort of small job?

How on earth do I find someone?

Psychward/Mental Health Unit questions

I have a few questions if anyone has answers, asking for a mate as he doesnt want to go to hospital but everyone thinks he should and thought some answers might help him;

- do you have to have a referral from a doctor or can you go via Emergency and be admitted still? (Not hurt physically so didnt know if theyd take things seriously)

- As anyone had any experience being admitted into the base hospital for mental health, and if yes, does the stay occur at Baillie Hendersons? Or is it dependent?

- is there a point trying to get help today (on a sunday) or should he try and wait it out until the morning tomorrow?

Obviously with these things, anything can change or happen, so ideally we want him there but are also aware the system can be harmful and forcing him wont help right now unless we can reassure him too

Thanks everyone

Best feeds between here and Brisbane

Looking for recommendations. I regularly do trips to Brisbane for work, I usually end up taking the lazy option and getting a hot box feed at the same servo every time. Doesn’t matter if it’s slightly off the highway and can be anything, cafe, pub, hot box, etc. bonus points if it’s supporting a local small business. Wouldn’t mind knowing where the best big Brekky is as an example…?

Local beauty bars that don't have lay down beds?

I'm sure this reads kind of odd. I need to get my brows waxed and my usual beauty place only has those tables that clients lay flat on. I've got an injury at the moment that will make laying down like that particularly uncomfortable and I'd rather avoid if possible. Are there any places in town that use the chairs instead? Exclude the brow place in Grandy.

Double Fine for a Single Drive

I was fined by the highway patrol for over-speeding, which I paid. Now a second fine on portal has been generated by speeding camera for the same drive 10 minutes apart. Can I contest it?

Ergon is upgrading our meter soon and wanting to know of anyone else's experience regarding the installation. Ergon says it'll be done by a team called Yurika and I can't find reviews on their work.

Toowoomba-Brisbane work commute - anyone interested in a commuter service?

It's looking like I'm needing to find work in Brisbane and may have to start commuting soon.

I'm just seeing if there's any demand for people getting together with me and paying a local provider to drive us to and from brisbane on commute days instead of driving ourselves (I've done the commute before long term and its so tiring I've nearly fallen asleep at the wheel).

I'm talking to a provider to see if I can get the cost of the return trip to be the same or less than paying for fuel/parking/car wear and tear per trip.

If there's demand for the service, it will help negotiate the price.

The benefits are:

  1. Commute time becomes usable time- Someone else does the driving and we can use the drive time for work, sleep, relax, etc
  2. We'd save mileage/depreciation/fuel on our cars from driving to and from Brisbane
  3. Arrive at work (and home) less tired
  4. No driving/traffic stress - dont have to deal with the Ipswich Motorway
  5. The car stays at home available for use.
  6. Transport certainty - the provider is a reliable professional service
  7. No parking headaches

Let me know in the comments if you might be interested.

Toowoomba Tram candidates

Hello, not from T town but I understand T town is on the up and up real estate wise. As land value is still extemely low and Toowoomba still have quite a wide town plan, I am wondering if any candidates have emerged as of yet that are championing light rail?

Thanks

“This is your brain” graffiti. What does it mean?

Post image

I’ve seen a few of these pop up around town, and I’m not a smart man so I need someone to explain for me. Is this a philosophical statement about how even though I might think I’m seeing a bit of paper, that all I will ever perceive in life is happening inside my brain? Is it a bit of Dadaist art? I’m losing minutes of my life pondering it and I need outside assistance.

Service Suzuki plus loan car

So I've cracked the shits big time with Blacks/Armstrong/whatever they're called now, on Neil street. I've been going there for 5 years, with 2 personal vehicles and 6 work vehicles.

These days no one answers the phone. Takes ages on hold before you get a receptionist, who is very lovely and takes your details and assures you that someone from the service department will ring you back later that day... It's been 3 days, I've called once per day, told the same thing by reception, no one has called me back. Hopeless. My experience is that the customer service has really gone down hill since it changed hands.

All that being said, I'm looking for somewhere to service my Suzuki Swift and I'd prefer somewhere where I can borrow another car for the day. Any ideas?

Toowoomba bus station overnight parking reviews

Hello everyone!

I’m travelling from Toowoomba to Brisbane at 11am by bus and returning the next morning around 9:15am.

I live in Glenvale, so I’m deciding whether to drive to the Toowoomba Bus Station, leave my car in the bus station car park overnight, and drive straight to the uni when I get back. I need to be at uni by 10am, so having my car there would make things much easier.

Has anyone here left their car at the bus station car park overnight? Is it generally safe, particularly for the car?

I’m also considering just taking an Uber/taxi from Glenvale both ways instead, so I’d appreciate any advice on which option you’d choose.

Thanks!

Then I stopped and thought I was seeing things.

Drove beside it along Webb st and it headed down ocean street towards Mackenzie

Thinking of moving to Toowoomba next year — how is the healthcare/pharmacy scene for newcomers?

Hii everyone,

I'm putting together plans to move to Toowoomba in about a year's time on a skilled pathway (Pharmacy Technician background).

I chose Toowoomba because I prefer regional living over the big chaos of Sydney/Melbourne, but before locking everything down, I wanted to get an honest local opinion:

What is the general job market like around town for healthcare support / dispensary staff?

How easy is it for someone moving from overseas to find decent rental accommodation and settle into the community?

What are the best things about living in Toowoomba that newcomers usually don't realize?

Would love to hear what locals think of the town and any tips on what I should research over the next 12 months. Cheers!
