Characters (loved trope) Trans characters who do not/cannot pass but everyone still respects their identity

  • Lev from The Last of Us Part II: Lev is a trans boy who cannot medically transition due to being in a zombie apocalypse with a fascist government, yet the main cast in the story supports and affirms him as male.
  • Denise Bryson from Twin Peaks: A trans woman DEA and FBI agent. She does not pass in the series, which is an integral part of her character; her boss simply tells people who don't like it to "fix their hearts or die."
  • Cordelia from Vinland Saga: As a trans woman living in Northern Europe during the Viking age, it is impossible for Cordelia, who has a hulking, muscular figure, to transition to female. But despite not looking the part physically, everyone is cool with it and refers to her as female.
  • Ladiva from Granblue Fantasy: A pro wrestler who makes no attempts to pass (save for hair) and is still beloved by the cast as a maternal figure, serving as a stark contrast to her species' women who are petite.

Best character in the entire series. The only time I was emotionally invested. Most people didn’t like Hotel but I did feel like the end paid off very well.

I feel like it's such a shame that she isn't in the new season of AHS considering how many people and characters came back

doesn’t she get stuck in the hotel by dying there?

Technically yea but Ryan Murphy fully dodges a lot of the rules in the universe when he so needs it. The new season is kind of a giant amalgamation of characters, many of who are dead

Hotel, like most seasons of AHS, is a complete mess of idea with a few outstanding ones. Liz has an incredible arc, that’s unfortunately surrounded by all the random shit Ryan Murphy wanted to throw in that season.

I’ve never seen a piece of media from Ryan Murphy that couldn’t be described like this. Even in my favorite season, Coven, there’s random one-off scenes that do not make any sense and are never spoken of again, like when Queenie tries to seduce a minotaur and almost ends up dead afterwards.

It’s apparently a hot take in the fandoms but my favorite season is Roanoke. It’s the most cohesive season to me cause it doesn’t really add a bunch of unnecessary side plots.

Lady Gaga ruined that season

That’s wild. I watched the first two seasons then stopped but came back for this one as I heard it was a return to form. Absolutely loved it and the ending. Crazy that it isn’t well regarded

I love that they clarify that Liz is trans but not gay. A small correction for mainstream audiences that do not fully understand the LGBTQIA+ community.

Because we can?

Why do they keep making new Oreos?

"I'm not queer" is often a transphobic dogwhistle, but it is not always a transphobic dogwhistle. Queer is still a slur that is used maliciously. I've had it yelled at me from cars or while someone was destroying my property. I do not consider myself queer as I have not reclaimed that slur for myself. I can tell the difference between "Garden is queer" and "the queer community," but while I will only speak up in the first situation, I still don't like the term queer, and I would prefer to use "LGBTQ+" when I refer to our community.

Flavor. Would you ever settle for just Neapolitan ice cream?

Seriously, through, all those letters benefit everyone. It gives a name to identity and taste, rather than just rolling them together. Consider: it is normal to have an age gap relationship between consenting adults of the same gender, but it is wrong if one of them is not an adult and cannot consent. Bad faith actors like to add “pedophilia” to the LGBTQIA+ in order to paint all queer people as deviants, ignoring the issue of consent. If we can name the colors of the rainbow, we know what belongs.

Oh man, I must have watched this way too long ago before I understood that stuff because as a kid I thought she was supposed to be a drag queen. I had no idea she was just non-passing transgender.
