First playthrough. I just got Oom and started using him during that mini storybook event after meeting Matkina. The event showed me every affiliated Tide for any dialogue choice and I had thought perhaps this was just usual game progression; introducing new mechanics or whatever.

However this is solely tied to Oom and seems to change the game significantly but only if you use the blob companion. At this point in the game I have no idea how to view how my previous Tide choices have affected my playthrough, or if that will ever be a thing. I'd rather not know what Tides will change until after I click on a dialogue choice... but I kinda want to run Oom in the party.

I wanted to avoid spoilers but even searching isn't yielding any clarity.

Will the Tides have an impact enough to make me, or anybody, care to specifically choose certain Tides? Gold, Blue, etc. Is Oom worth taking in general? What about if I hate how Oom affects dialogue?
