The new dome experience. Here’s what I learned:

Upvotes

Heading to a game at the dome? As a relatively long time fan, there’s a couple of things to be prepared for in terms of expectations and possibly a little bit of disappointment.

Personally, the biggest expectation & disappointment isn’t even the jays gameplay this season itself (I still have hope). It was when I went to a game at the dome with my mom in the spring, for the first time since the renovations. This was in April.

I’ve been a jays fan since 2004 and have witnessed some of the hard years, back when 500 level tickets were $7. I didn’t see the jays make the postseason until 2015. Going through a tough stretch is nothing new to me, especially when team expectations are high.

In terms of transportation & parking, if you’re taking the go train, take note that many parking lots on the lakeshore west line are completely full. It may take a while to find parking if you need it. This was a “work from dome” game at 3:07. We had to drive to the next station to find parking. If you’re a local to the GTA, it can be easier to take a bus to your go station, or whatever public transit is available. We’re not local and come from further down Southwestern Ontario.

My mom & I arrived to the dome about 45 minutes before first pitch. The lines outside are huge, just to get into the building. I honestly should have realized it would be extremely busy with the renovations and recent World Series run. By the time we were inside the dome, there was less than 10 minutes to explore, before the national anthems.

I’ve been to numerous games at the dome since I’ve been a fan. This year, we had front row seats for the game, which was awesome! Albeit, in the 500 level (still super cool to not have anyone in front of you). The view is excellent from there anyhow.

The renovations looked pretty nice. There was various food options, new restaurants , unique standing areas with great views and other forms of entertainment. There’s arcade games in the concourse, corn hole, & more. Various new monuments are also on display to browse (best to do this all this stuff before the game so you don’t miss anything). The two World Series trophies were really cool to see up close.

Honestly, there was a lot to see & experience. Get there very early if you can, so you don’t miss the game. I wish I would have arrived immediately when the gates opened so I could explore further. We did try to, but our transportation was a bit of a struggle based on our go train parking experience.

It was a sold out game. We didn’t get a chance to look at everything. We sat down at the bottom of the 1st and didn’t leave our seats until the 9th.

Compared to pre-renos, there was more sounds, music and light shows during the game. Overall, it was a more casual experience compared to before the renos… less baseball, more “night out” vibes. Some people don’t even watch the game, just hangout in the concourse/bars with drinks, etc.

That being said, i’m all-for filling the building, gaining new fans and selling tickets. It was actually pretty cool to see. Growing up, I was accustomed to 15,000-20,000 people in the stands (or 30,000 on a good day). Just plan for the extremely busy vibe, compared to previous years.

There was one major disappointment my mom & I experienced. Tim Hortons is completely gone from the Rogers Centre. Pre 2020, it was always a treat to go watch the jays and have a coffee or iced capp. During our trip, we purposely didn’t get coffee for the Go Train ride, assuming we could get our usual treat from Tim Hortons at the dome. After walking around looking, searching online and finally finding a free staff member to ask… she confirmed: Tim Hortons was removed during the renovations. After all of this, I just wanted to watch the game so I got my mom and I two soft drinks for around $14.

If you’re going to the game expecting to enjoy a Tim’s coffee or iced capp, prepare to be disappointed. Get it beforehand and bring it in with you. Rogers Centre allows outside food & drink. There’s no re-entry and if you’re a coffee person (not alcohol or pop), get your desired caffeine treat before you enter! There are “coffee” options available at a couple of the new bars, but they are hot drinks such as lattes, mochas, etc. They told us they could add ice to their hot drinks if we want a cold beverage. Definitely not the same as providing the staple cold-coffee options.

We will still try another game in the future, with less initial disappointment after knowing this information.

Overall, I wrote this post as a basic review of the renovation to help fans visiting the ballpark. Other than being disappointed and not having coffee, I still give the new dome experience an 8 out of 10. Let’s Go Blue Jays!

Dying fan request

My grandfather has taken several trips over years to visit your amazing county and city timing his vacations around the Jay’s schedules that he can get to see as many games as possible

In June 2027 my grandad is due to reach 60 and plans were underway to coincide with this event.

Unfortunately these plans have had to be cancelled as my grandfather has been diagnosed with terminal accute myloid leukaemia and he only has a limited time left.

I was wondering if you could arrange for one of the players to send my grandad an autograph. I am not asking for a signed bat or ball just a simple autograph.

I know from the tee shirts he has that his favourite all time player is Jose Baptisa and from the current team I know he likes someone called Max??

The family are more than willing to cover the cost of sending the autograph to the uk

I know you probably get a large number of similar requests but any help you can give would be appreciated and would make dad’s day. I just want to do anything I can, and this is one of the few things he has asked for. If anyone can help me please drop me a message

Let’s go Blue Jays

It’s easy for me to go to games and wait early in line for giveaways. I’m looking for the Ernie hockey jersey to give as a Christmas gift to a friend

Jays 10 home runs in a game record still stands!

Yesterday, the Cubs, who have been lighting it up all August, hit 9 home runs against the Brewers but not good enough. It’s crazy to think the Jays still have the single game home run record after almost 40 years at 10 hrs.The record made it through the juiced ball era.

Timeline on Injured Players?

Is there anywhere to see a timeline on injured players?

Yesavage- On IL since August 5th. Saw he is throwing from 75 feet on August 25th. Likely still needs a rehab start too. So if we are lucky maybe we get two starts from him?

Taillon- Pitched a rehab start so I assume he is back either by the weekend or early next week

Bieber- Appears completely unknown at this time

Mantiply- Seems likely to be back maybe today?

Josh Smith- Maybe today as well?

Tony Taters- Maybe by the end of the season. Maybe 2028?

Anyone see any other recent updates?

Sept 1, 2026 Virtual Gratitude Circle (Guardians Series)

Seeing Max Scherzer striding amongst baseball giants that last game against the Ms - wow. Thought of doing this one for him.

Join our gratitude circle, inspired by Kazuma Okamoto's pregame ritual.

Before and during the series drop something you’re grateful for, baseball-related or not.

Ground Rules for the Circle:

  • Please keep it positive. No player bashing, doom-posting, or hot takes here... Plenty of other places to do that.
  • Respect everyone’s contributions, even if it’s simple.
  • Generally one gratitude per game - you can post more, just keep it clean/reasonable.

I’ll start: just grateful for more meaningful baseball to watch.

Now it's your turn:

Wigged out :)

Hey everyone! Did anyone record the Jumbotron 'Buck Wig Cam' filter during the end of the 4th inning on Saturday? Aug 29 Our group was sitting in Sections 242/243 and got featured on the screen with the hair overlay, but we missed filming it ourselves. If anyone has a video clip of the big screen from that break, please let me know!"

Driving to Cleveland with a 4 year old, crazy?

Hey everyone my hub and I are really debating driving for Weds & Thursdays game. Maps says it’s 5.5 hours without stops. We would have to bring our 4 year old. She does love baseball and is quite patient but is still a 4 year old. Has anyone been to this stadium before? Should we do it? Any odds of us meeting players at an away game?

Time is running out to make our decision. It would be leave Weds go home Fri.

[Toronto Sun] John Schneider unplugged on how Blue Jays finally cured World Series hangover

Seems like everything we had thought of as possibly contributing to the early onset performance was there - heartbreak over Game 7, expectations, the WBC, a short rest. Oh yeah, and injuries.

I can't even imagine watching the World Series again, so I'm truly in admiration of John doing so (to learn something, I presume).

Seems like with the trade deadline, they were able to embrace new players and lean into different things they weren't doing before at much. My take: speed on the basepaths, which does give them more room if they're going to be hitting singles more often than they'd like.
