Helping hands

Holla! New rider based near Church and Carlton. Two things I've learned quickly about my bike: learning DIY maintenance would be so much easier if I could observe someone; and maintenance is hard when to only have yourself to hold things up.

With that said, if you're experienced in doing DIY maintenance and you need someone to help you hold things up and pass you tools, I'd be happy to help if I'm available. I'm typically free evenings and weekends 👌

Where do all the classic motorcycles go to meet in the GTA

Hello I am just curious if there is any existing meet up for older classic/vintage motorcycles in the GTA closer to downtown TO? I have checked various sites such as FB and meetup.com, have not come across any related forums yet. Looking for a group to let my old BMW airhead meet other similar aged friends :-)

Looking for some fellow weekend riders in and around Ontario

Looking for some fellow weekend riders in and around Ontario.

My motorcycle friend group is, shall we say, aggressively small. Now that I’m 50, I’ve reached the stage of life where the kids are older, weekends are a little less chaotic, and apparently I have time to make questionable decisions involving motorcycles.

I’m in Vaughan and usually up for a longer weekend ride. I ride a Triumph Tiger Sport 800, but you definitely don’t need to ride a Triumph, or even own a motorcycle worth more than my first car.

Looking for some easygoing people to occasionally head out with, put some kilometres on, find a decent place for lunch, tell increasingly questionable stories, and maybe have a cigar along the way.

No interest in racing, riding like we’re auditioning for MotoGP, or turning a Sunday ride into an endurance event. Just good roads, good company, food, and enjoying the painfully short Ontario riding season while we still have knees that work.

If you’re in the Vaughan/GTA area and looking for someone to ride with on weekends, feel free to reach out.

I built a free app for finding rides, events and bike-friendly shops in Ontario — looking for feedback from actual riders

Hey all — I ride in the GTA and got tired of the way we find stuff. Events are scattered across a dozen Facebook groups, half the "bike night" posts are from 2023, and finding a shop that actually knows your bike means asking here every spring.

So I built onREV. It's free, no ads, no subscription:

  • Events — bike nights, ride-outs, shows, track days. RSVP so you can see who else is going.
  • Directory — rider-friendly spots: shops, gear stores, tire places, cafes people actually stop at. Sorted by distance from you.
  • Deals — discounts local businesses put up for riders.
  • Browse everything without making an account. Sign in only if you want to RSVP or add stuff.

Website: onrev.app
iOS app: https://apps.apple.com/ca/app/onrev/id6777621450
Android app: coming soon

Two honest asks:

  1. Tell me what's missing. Especially events and shops around Toronto/Hamilton/Niagara — if your regular bike night isn't in there, that's a gap I want to fix. You can submit them in-app or just reply here and I'll add them.
  2. Tell me what's broken or annoying. I'd rather hear it blunt than not at all.

If it's useful to you, great. If it's not, tell me why — that's genuinely the more useful reply.

motorcycle lessons wanted in toronto

Hi! So I’ve (21F) always been a big fan of motorcycles and been on many trips riding on the back, going camping etc. My roommate just got a motorcyle and he’s out of town a lot and wants me to ride it. I have all the gear (helmet, gloves etc.) and am familiar with motorcycles. He says I should learn to ride and ride his when he’s away. I’m looking for some lessons, and a good time. I can compensate or give stuff in exhchange. I live in downtown Toronto but am willing to commute somewhere.

Has anyone else dealt with the creepy sales guy at Studio Cycle?

I’m 35F, and about a year and a half ago I went into Studio Cycle in Toronto with my boyfriend to look at motorcycles.

One of the sales guys, I think his name was Adam, was being incredibly inappropriate with a young girl who worked there. He looked like he was in his 40s and was standing behind her giving her a shoulder massage.

She looked extremely young, and I later found out while speaking with her that she was a high school co-op student.

Then, while my boyfriend was looking at another bike, the same salesman started hitting on me and asking for my Instagram.

The entire experience was creepy and disgusting. A grown man touching a high school co-op student like that in the workplace seemed wildly inappropriate to me. Then he started hitting on a customer while her boyfriend was only a few feet away.

It has honestly bothered me ever since. The girl did not seem to think anything inappropriate was happening, but she was also a high school student dealing with an older employee in a workplace. I really regret not saying something or reporting it at the time.

I love Aprilia's and would otherwise consider buying one from Studio Cycle because I live in the city and need somewhere convenient for servicing. The other dealers are a long drive away. But this experience made me never want to give that shop my money.

Does anyone know whether that creep still works there?

Has anyone else had a similar experience with him? I want to know whether I’m the only person who witnessed this kind of behavior, or whether there is a pattern.

New M2 Rider in the GTA – Looking for Cruiser Advice (Liked Rebel 500, Vulcan S Cafe, and Super Meteor 650)

Hey everyone,

I recently got my M2 and am officially on the hunt for my first bike! I’m looking for a solid cruiser to get my feet wet, but I don’t know many local riders in real life, so I’m turning to the community for some guidance.

I spent some time checking out bikes in person at Snow City in Scarborough recently. Two models really stood out to me:

1. Honda Rebel 500: Felt incredibly approachable and lightweight.

2. Kawasaki Vulcan S (Cafe version): Really liked the styling and the slightly punchier feel it seems to promise.

Through my own online research, I also fell in love with the Royal Enfield Super Meteor 650. I went to the dealership hoping to get a closer look, but the salesman seemed completely disinterested in showing it to me and didn't even bother following up with the stock and pricing info I requested. Because of that, I couldn't get a good feel for it.

I'd love to get some honest community feedback:

  1. Rebel 500 vs. Vulcan S vs. Super Meteor 650: For a brand-new rider in the GTA, which of these would you recommend as a first bike in terms of insurance, highway capability (dealing with the 401/DVP), and forgiveness for a beginner?

  2. Dealerships: Since my experience at Snow City was a bit lacking for the Royal Enfield, are there any other dealerships in or around the GTA that you’d recommend for good service and cruiser inventory?

  3. Other Suggestions: Are there any other middleweight or entry-level cruisers I should be looking at that I might have missed?

Open to all suggestions, tips, and wisdom. Thanks in advance, and hope to see some of you out on the roads!

Question About Safety Cert and Temp Licenses

Looking into getting a used bike but most sellers are selling as-is so I'd have to get it safety certified myself. I don't have a trailer so I'm trying to figure out how to ride the bike to the mechanic's.

I've heard you can get a temporary license, but MTO won't give those if the bike is registered as UNFIT, which I think it automatically is if its being sold as-is.

How would I get the bike registered as FIT to get the temporary license if the bike is being sold as-is and the owner won't do the safety themselves? Or is there a way to get it both FIT and as-is?

Looking for private lesson for M lessons.

Hi everyone! I’m looking for a private motorcycle instructor in Toronto or the GTA and have about 8 plus years of riding experience back home and completed 4k km rides multiple times and I’ve recently passed my Ontario M1. As I have previous riding experience, I’m planning to go for my M road test directly as I am eligible for M road test and they considered my experience from back home. I’m looking for 2 or 3 private lessons to brush up my skills and get familiar with highway riding and make sure I’m ready. I really don’t want to spend 500 plus on school which focus on basics, If anyone knows a good private instructor or has recommendations, I’d really appreciate it. Thanks

(30F, downtown) New rider. Looking for a community and practice spots

Hey everyone,

I'm 30f based in downtown Toronto. I got my M1 license and I’m taking the safety course soon! I’m excited to start riding but I don't know anyone else in the city who rides anymore, and I'm tackling this completely on my own. I also don’t know much about bikes or maintenance yet. All I have right now is my passion.

I’d love to connect with other beginners or any experienced riders willing to help a newbie out. Since I'm 5'3", I could really use a second set of eyes to help me check out bikes and figure out the right first model for my height. I am thinking Ninja 400 maybe?

Also, where do downtown riders go to practice? I know empty parking lots are the standard for beginners, but I don’t know of any around here (entertainment district). Are there any decent spots in the downtown core?

If anyone is down to connect or help me figure out things without dying, send me a message ☺️

2 buddies and I will be on the return leg from a long trip but want to go up the CN tower for the observation deck. The bikes will be loaded down so looking for suggestions where to park them without any gear being stolen off them.

Hi fellas, question about M license.

I arrive in Canada from Spain last February and I did all the stuff for scoring the G license. Now I am planning to do the same drill for the M license. I am an experience motorcyclist already but for me is really weird to bring my own motorcycle for the test (like it was for the car but it was easier to find places that rent a car rather than motorcycle renting ones).
Can you suggest options for doing that?
I live in Scarborough currently and I couldn’t find any place so far.

ISO: Crash bar for VT750CD3

Holla, I'm looking to order a crashbar for a 2001 Honda Shadow Spirit Ace (VT750CD). I'd rather buy one from an actual store rather than online. Any recommendations?

I mapped every rider-friendly business and bike night in Southern Ontario — built a free directory for anyone who wants it

Thumbnail onrev.app
9 Upvotes

Hey riders,

Ontario rider here. Spent the last several months building something I wish existed when I started riding.

It's called OnRev — a free directory of rider-friendly businesses and events across Southern Ontario. Dealerships, mechanics, restaurants, gear shops, bike nights, rallies — all in one place.

Just a clean map and directory of events and places the community actually cares about.

A few things already on there:

  • Bike nights across the GTA and surrounding area
  • Dealerships and independent mechanics
  • Restaurants with large parking lots that actually welcome groups

Still adding listings — if you know a spot that deserves to be on there drop it in the comments and I'll add it today.

onrev.app — free for riders, always will be.

Ride safe 🤙
