Stutters on Linux
Hi,
Has anyone else here experienced stuttering (like the stutters you get when playing windowed borderless), who is also playing on linux? I cant seem to find anything and tried a lot of fixes that i could find.
Also i have severe laggs on specifically penalty grass.

Make sure your game didn't automatically switch back to something other than fullscreen as that does happen sometimes. There is an openplanet plugin that forces it back as well. I've had luck forcing Wayland with a steam launch option. Unfortunately I'm on mobile and can't give you what it is D:

On a laptop? With a integrated and discrete GPU?

No, on pc with a 3060. Also that 3060 is on 70% ussage from trackmania, so its neither not using the gpu nor too much ussage

I've definitely had random times where that has happened. Not sure if it was the track or rebooting fixed the issue but it's always been temporary.

Linux works even better for me than Windows did. Are you playing via steam? On https://www.protondb.com/app/2225070 someone mentions they had perf issues until they switched to native wayland instead of XWayland - you could try that.
I'm running it on KDE atm and it works great, I originally was using hyprland and had some issues with input problems due to multiple screens and the fact that in wayland you cant set a primary display

Nope. I actually got worse stutters on Windows with the same hardware.
You’re having microstutters? Or large, intermittent freezes?
Would recommend gathering some info from the built-in profiler.

I'm on Windows for my gaming machine, but I did recently run into persistent microstutter that settings couldn't fix. The actual solution ended up being to lower the speed of my ram - it was advertised as 5600MT/s but running at 5400 removed that stuttering entirely in TM. Might work for you if your ram is running at an XMP speed?
