So I went for a long ride and installed a rack to support the luggage. Now I kinda find it cool and suitable to the bike but it sort of removes the stripped out look of it.
I had one like that on my bobber for a while before eventually removing the back fender. It was nice to have some luggage capacity back there, but the way this bike has the rear suspension set up means the bag gets shaken to shit on the road over a long distance. I had some mints in that bag in the pic that were practically ground to dust over a 500 mile trip on backroads.
That said, if you are doing distance it is nice to not have to wear a backpack or something. I’ve seen folks with some bigger panniers on these bikes (maybe the H&B C-bow mounted bags?) that make it tempting to go that route.
Personally I prefer the rear wheel more exposed on the bobber but it’s certainly up to individual preference.
Absolutely. Now that I took the fender off mine, I’m thinking of fabricating a removable sissy bar that connects to the swing arm, so that I can take a bag with me if I choose the bobber for a road trip
What are those tires? I have been looking for something like those but can't find any? Have you thought of forward controls, I find it makes it way more comfortable to ride and actually makes the balancing way better too.
If its my bike, id keep the rack and have a decent size bag or tool roll to keep on it all the time.
Maybe a wool blanket with a tool roll rolled into it. Partially for looks
First pic looks better, but if you actually use the rack, keep it. I'd rather actually use the bike for something. Not like it's bad looking either way.

Honestly, I dig it. Doesn't detract from the look at all, plus it's functional. But if you're not gonna use it, and you're not sold on it, then remove it.

If you want I haul shit, you should have gotten a Speedmaster since if you like the fat tire look.
The Speedmaster is kind of like a Bobber, but with provision for a passenger and luggage options.
I opted for the '23 Speed Twin 1200 with a Givi rack and a compact 22 liter flat case with nice looking tie downs.
Looks nice, and not lumpy.
Much quicker and nimble too. 😎
You should weld a U shaped pipe to the frame astride the shock, with a small pipe just ahead of the rear bolt as a brace. Use a long enough pipe to mount a flat seat from the tank over the rear wheel. May want to run another short pipe from the brace to the underside of the U shaped one far enough back so it joins the U above the axle. Then you won't need the wheel mounted grill. Otherwise leave the grill you have as a place to tie a jacket or sweatshirt in case the weather changes. It also may come in handy for shaking paint cans.
