Triumph info Help me decide

I’ve been shopping for a Street Triple and have 3 good options to pick from from 3 very different flavors. I’ll add that I have pretty crappy roads, no mountains, and closest track is 5 hours away. So mainly just commuting with the occasional fast curve whenever opportunity presents itself.

  1. 2013 Street Triple 675

    ABS.

  2. No frills just super clean with 9000 miles, lots of extras like bags and some leathers that’s never seen the pavement (should fit too) It also has an exhaust. $4,200

  3. 2018 765 RS. 11,700 mi super clean zero modifications. I think I can get it for 6,000 maybe a little less.

  4. 2020 765R 4,700 miles, super clean, has exhaust and a few little extras. I think I can get it for 6,200

I had a budget of 5,000 and I really think I’d be happy on either of these, just wondering if with the way I ride would ever benefit from spending the extra money on one of the 765’s

Also I do have some gear already, so that’s not part of the budget.

Thanks

The old Street Triple is liked for it's sound and minmalistic electrical components. The 2020 is equiped with the anti blockage system and traction control and other gimmicks. Not to forget we are talking about 7 years in which they reworked the bike. ( Comparing 2013 to 2020) Up to your Budget, I guess. If you don't have riding gear then consider that too.

Greetings from Germany.

I like number 1 and number 3. I have number 1 talked down all he will go, he said for less he will keep it. It is very nice and has hardly any miles. I am a fan of simple, but I’m a bigger fan of a good deal.

Your budget should dictate choice #1 IMO

It’s not really about what I can afford but trying to stick within what I feel I should spend on this. If the value is there I don’t mind going out of the budget if it’s a smart move. I also already have gear, I should mention that.

Difficult choice.

I have the 675 (non-R) and put 80k km on it. It's a good bike for the road if you can accept the headlights. I don't feel the need to upgrade it. And I like how simple it is to maintain. Headlights are without LEDs, so you just change a bulb. No TC, just ABS. Workshop manual is available.

I have ridden the 675R and 2018RS and 2020RS. They have better brakes and suspension. Its actually pretty noticeable.

I think the 2020 R is worth the extra money, much newer and looks much better. Good enough brakes and suspension. I like the 2020 R Dash better than the 2020RS and 2018 RS Dash.

Also, the 2020 R came in a nice glossy black color 🥵 But it needs the bellypan to look good.

I didn’t mention but there is also a 2018 R model with 21,000 miles with no mods and newer tires they asking 4400 for and its gloss black. It’s just 2 hours further away and I can’t ever seem to work out with the owner when to meet.

The 2013 675, does it comes with the stock exhaust as well? The 2013-2016 stock exhaust is super nice and not too loud.

It feels good to pay 4200 and have the extra 2000 for a vacation, gear, camera or just a roadtrip with a nice guesthouse or hotel.

I’m not sure about the stock exhaust but I don’t think it does. It has an SC Projects on it now. It has also had a sprocket swap and recalibration to give it some more bottom end grunt

Edit he does have the original exhaust

I have the SC S1 Conic somewhere and it's just so loud. I'm back at stock. Much better.

Obviously, there are other SC Project exhausts that are not as loud, but the Conic will annoy you and your neighbours.

I had an M4 on my FZ-09 it was pretty gnarly

I would get the 2018 RS with the stock exhaust. No mods. Not dropped on the exhaust side.

The stock lisemce plate holder saves your ass a bit as well.

If your budget ist tight and you need a helmet too, insurance and so on. Nr 1 is solid if it has ABS. Not all of them did.

Other than that nr3 sounds great too

I have a helmet and gear I used to ride it’s just been a few years. And yes the 675 does have ABS.

I'd go with number one, Good savings that will allow me to fill the tank more 😎 plus it already has the bags and stuff.

It’s also the closest and the seller has been the most responsive. And insurance on it is super cheap

You know, there is the 12k miles major maintenance, valve check and adjustment, that can cost over $1000 if you don't DIY.

They’re all great, but the 765s just don’t have the same same personality. I bought my 2014 Daytona new and my friend got his 2014 str at the same time. We both will not ever be selling these bikes - they’re just so much fun and so well put together. I have other bikes, the Daytona isn’t a do-everything bike - but god it’s so fun. The sound and feel of the 675 is amazing. The 765 is a “better” bike, but the 675 feels raw in a way the 765 doesn’t. Also revs a bit higher and sounds incredible.

The 675 you’re looking at also sounds like a better deal - but it will be coming up on the 12k service soon which is pricey as it involves checking the valves.

I likely won’t put 1000 miles a year on a bike. My riding buddy passed away…it’s part of the reason I sold my last bike. Also I usually do all my own maintenance, even the “involved” ones
