I would start by reading the Gospels and getting familiar who Jesus is.

1) God created us for Himself.
Genesis 1:27 — “So God created man in his own image…”
Colossians 1:16 — “All things were created by him, and for him.”

2) Humanity sinned and was separated from God.
Romans 3:23 — “For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God.”
Isaiah 59:2 — “Your iniquities have separated between you and your God.”

3) We cannot save ourselves by our own works.
Ephesians 2:8–9 — “For by grace are ye saved through faith… Not of works, lest any man should boast.”

4) God sent His Son, Jesus Christ.
John 3:16 — “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son…”

5) Jesus lived without sin.
Hebrews 4:15 — Jesus “was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin.”

6) Jesus died on the cross for our sins.
1 Corinthians 15:3 — “Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures.”

7) Jesus was buried and rose from the dead on the third day.
1 Corinthians 15:4 — “He was buried, and… he rose again the third day according to the scriptures.”

8) Jesus is Lord and reigns over all.
Philippians 2:9–11 — “Every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord.”
Matthew 28:18 — “All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth.”

9) God calls us to repent and believe in Jesus.
Mark 1:15 — “Repent ye, and believe the gospel.”
Acts 20:21 — “Repentance toward God, and faith toward our Lord Jesus Christ.”

10) Whoever trusts in Christ receives forgiveness, new life, and eternal life.
John 3:16 — “Whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”
Acts 10:43 — “Whosoever believeth in him shall receive remission of sins.”
2 Corinthians 5:17 — “If any man be in Christ, he is a new creature.”

If anyone told you being a Christian would make things easier... well they lied to you.

However, it's well worth it!

As for being a young Christian... its kind of like going to the gym for the first time... its hard, uncomfortable, and you might be embarrassed about your progress compared to others... but the more you work at it, the better you get.

Studies have shown reading the bible and praying once or twice a week doesnt really improve your mood. 3-4 times a week people reported improvement in mood and attitude. And 5-7 days a week showed massive improvement. Its a discipline that requires work, just like anything else.

As for the other stuff... find a church, a college group, a young adults study, or something of that nature. Then give it a real shot. The first time will probably be uncomfortable, but keep at it... it'll pay off.

With finding God, reading the bible and how do I need to do it

Read the Bible every day to learn what is true have your your mind renewed to think God’s ways.

Read some from both the Old Testament and New Testament each day. Don’t worry if you don’t understand it all, just read it and eventually it will make sense. Praying asking God to help you by his spirit to understand it before you read it.

Take time alone every day to listen for God’s voice. Obey what God says And pray what God would have you pray.

Discerning God’s voice from other voices or your own voice is something that you get better with over time.

“My sheep hear my voice, and they follow me”.

The key ultimately is to obey God, and to be transformed to think the way God thinks.

If you do that then you will know God to a greater degree.

Hiii!!! Congratulations on finding the Lord; it all starts from there. Im a christian girl who's year younger but I was brought up in a christian household and I myself have been Christian since I was about fourteen. Idk if you have any specific questions (let me know), but I'd love to give you some good advice. The first thing is understanding, or even just realizing, the Love of God. That might be one of the most important things in becoming a Christian, and that is understanding that Jesus Christ died on the cross and 3 days later, rose again, taking all of your sin and shame and guilt and bearing the weight of it all. This is what ultimately unites all Christians: the simple fact that God does love you, like you individually, and us as His children. Its sorta an overwhelming feeling; the more you discover just how deep and rooted that love is, then the easier it is for you to continue on this journey. Of course, read your bible and ask any Christian friends what their experiences are like as well! That should help a lot

And I nearly forgot: He was raised from the dead by the power of the Holy Spirit, overcoming the grave!

Look up local churches online. See if they have Youth Groups (usually age 13-18) or young adult groups. You need fellowship, direction and a mentor.

u/Used_Fault_4491 13h ago

If the bible is difficult to read, pull up a dramatized version on youtube and read along with it.

Set alarms for prayer time.

1

u/Used_Fault_4491 10h ago

Okay, thank you. Do you have tips?

1

u/curious_casius Presbyterian 7h ago

Start with the gospel of John then go to Romans this will give you a clear understanding of what the gospel is and why the good news is truly good news. As for prayer id encourage you to pray the daily office. You can get an app called the daily office to do it. It has morning and evening and helps guide you through it.

u/Used_Fault_4491 7h ago

I have read matthew already, why is John 'better'?

1

u/curious_casius Presbyterian 7h ago

John is usually the “go to” recommendation for those starting out for a few reasons. 1. John makes his purpose for writing very clear, which is useful for bible study. “These are written so that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that by believing you may have life in his name.” — John 20:31

  1. It focuses heavily on the identity of Jesus. Most of john contains quotations or allusions to the Old Testament, which will start to connect as you grow in your understanding of Scripture.

  2. Its pretty straightforward and easy to follow so you don’t get bogged down with “when is this happening” or “why is Jesus saying/ doing this right now”

  3. John focuses on faith and believing showing what you must do to be a Christian

1

u/Used_Fault_4491 7h ago

Yes definitely, well first off welcome to the family im glad you're here. Do you have a church that you go to? If not I suggest finding one that welcomes you for who you are currently because God doesn't ask we clean ourselves up before we come to him all he asks is that we come as we are and he will change/fix the broken parts and shine up our best qualities. If you do have one but dont feel welcome refer to my previous advice, second if you have already done why I've suggested previously this may be a moment known as spiritual warfare, this is the hardest part of following christ but just know we already are the winners of this war if you dont believe me read revelation, but what im referring to as spiritual warfare is that the devil or one of his subordinates are trying to drive you away from God and one of their favorite tactics is to make you not feel welcome. If you have questions feel free to shoot me a message and I'll do my best to respond with an appropriate answer my friend, God bless you.

Don't get into the word with some expectation. The Word will set you free. The Lord said that the Help comes from Him. Just continue reading the Word and Pray even if u aren't feeling it. Eventually you'll realise that I have been feeling His presence all along. For the seed is planted. Be patient to reap the harvest. Being with the Lord means that it's going to be difficult with the world. But God is faithful n He's beside u in everything
