What if Alan had become the main character after Charlie left?
I was thinking about how different the show could’ve been after Charlie left. Instead of introducing Walden, what if they had made Alan the main character? For example Charlie leaves Alan nothing, but Alan somehow manages to get his hands on Charlie’s fortune. He suddenly becomes wealthy, but of course he’s still the cheap, unlucky Alan we all know.
I feel like that could’ve created a lot of comedy without needing to replace Charlie with another rich character. Alan could’ve slowly started acting like Charlie just less successful with women. Do you think something like this could’ve worked without bringing Walden in?
