Back To School A to Z

So today I heard Atomic City, and a little while later, Bad. Of course, Zoo Station and Zooropa are (near) the end.

WMMR in Philadelphia, 93.3 FM (WMMR.COM) started their annual Back To School A to Z on this past Monday at around 8a. They are expecting it to last for about 3 weeks. There will be no repeats for its entirety, with the same song but different versions, like ‘Live And Let Die’, by Paul McCartney and the version by GNR. It’s a rock station, but there are some ‘left turns’ in there, like Dolly Parton 9 to 5 (I think that was a new addition but not sure), some Michael Jackson (just heard Beat It), Prince, the Axel Foley theme from Beverly Hills Cop. It’s great radio. Listen online or check out their app.

More Atmos Mixes in honor of 50th anniversary?

We know U2 likes Atmos. Every new song except Street of Dreams (and Yeah, Yeah, Yeah, Yeah) gets an Atmos mix about a month after its release. We know that Rattle and Hum was remixed in Atmos because it was playing in special venues around the Sphere shows.

So are we going to see a discography-Atmos dump at end of September in honor of their 50th? We saw that with Oasis, Taylor Swift, and some other bands where suddenly all or most of their content gets Spatial Audio and is prominently featured on Apple.

I am wishcasting this into existence!

I bought this online back in 1998 or so. I don’t know the origin of this or if it’s official, but I always loved it.

SPOILERS: U2Songs.com's Discography Teases Release of Next Single Spoiler

U2Songs has added a discography entry for the song "Silencio," a snippet of which has circulated online since May.

At the time of posting, the discography entry reads:

NOTE: This is for an item which has not yet been formally announced and as such may be subject to changes. We believe the information is correct and from reliable sources. The image above is a placeholder, created by U2Songs and is not the cover for the single. Last update: 2026-08-30.

U2’s second single from their forthcoming 2026 album is “Silencio”. The single is expected to be released on Friday, September 25, 2026. That date is familiar to fans of the band, as it is the 50th anniversary of the formation of the band. September 25, 1976 was the first day that the kids who would become U2 gathered in Larry Mullen’s kitchen at Rosemount Avenue.

The song “Silencio” has been known to U2 fans since U2’s video shoot in Mexico City in May 2026. The band were there to film a video for “Street of Dreams”, with a number of very public performances. On May 13, they also filmed at Salón Los Angeles. The venue was established in 1937 as a dance hall / ballroom. It was known as the place to be seen in its early days hosting everyone from Frida Kahlo to Fidel Castro and Che Guevara. It continues to host musical performances today. While there, U2 performed on stage, and onlookers could hear the music from yet another song, which Bono later identified as “Silencio”.

“Silencio” follows “Street of Dreams” as the second single from the album. “Street of Dreams” had been released in July 2026. Between the two songs, U2 released “Fireflies” with Martin Garrix, and “Yeah, Yeah, Yeah, Yeah, Yeah”, a cover of the Pogues song, which will feature on a Shane MacGowan tribute album later this year.

The new U2 album, expected in November, has not yet been fully announced.

Fontaines D.C. to play Slane Castle in June 2027

Brilliant band but what do we think this means for U2 in 2027? Surely they play in or around Dublin if they tour Europe.

Interesting that only one date has been booked for Slane. It does leave room for 2 nights for U2. Also with Oasis touted to tour, it could mean U2 or Oasis have to decide who gets the Aviva and who gets Croke Park.

It's a bonus scene from "From The Sky Down".

I can count on one hand the number of times I've heard isolated Bono guitar tracks. I figured it was because he was terrible. But this is... decent! Like not Edge levels of skill of course, but Bono has a good sense of rhythm and intensity.

Inside Joke from ZOOTV Era?

I just made a mix CD of all the B-sides from the AB/Zooropa era, and I noticed the time length from a rip of "Lady With The Spinning Head – Extended Dance Mix" from the "Even Better Than The Real Thing" CD single. I laughed as soon as I saw it and assumed it was a cheeky reference to the lyric from the song "Figure of 8/six and nine again". 😂

Fireflies now in Dolby Atmos

For all the Atmos fans, Fireflies is now in Atmos.

Interestingly, Street of Dreams remains in non-Atmos despite coming out earlier. It’s very likely band is delaying Atmos version until the full album release.

Best thing about this band is how I can just revisit a song with a new perspective that I didn’t think much about before now that I have grown older. The lyrics to this are amazing and I have a new found appreciation for this acoustic version beyond the melody.

Unique live moments on film

Im a huge u2 fan ever since 6 years old when my father showed me Slane castle for the first time. Im now 29 and still watch and listen U2 daily.

My favorite era’s always and still are the elevation tour and vertigo tour. I watched a lot of it. Also the ‘amateur’ filmed concerts.

But i wonder if one u guys can show me some unique moments on camera of those tours? Songs they barely play, some special moments, something out of the ordinairy. Im really curious if there is footage i havent seen. That are amazing.

Please let me know and send links! Thank u

I came across these in my collection and thought I’d share them with the U2 community. I still remember buying CDs when they came in those long boxes. How about CD singles, CD3s? It’s amazing to look back at some of the things I’ve collected over the years!

Is U2 Getting To The Younger Generations?

Hello everyone!

I’m going to say yes because I’m apart of those generations :) Im a gen alpha and I literally only listen to U2. I love collecting and listening to their vinyls, cassettes and cds, I even have the U2 ipod! I first got into them a year ago from SoI, which is my favorite album (dont judge ;) and I know some others gen alphas who listen to them or know about them, not as much as me tho lol. I try to get them more popular in school but Taylor Swift has already claimed that spot :( Sadley, I haven't been to any of their concerts…yet. I bet their are a lot of gen alphas I dont know who like U2, but right now I feel like the only one who really got into them and feel a deep meaning in all their songs. So there you go! I really love this sub reddit because I feel like I belong here,

Have a great rest of the day fellow u2 lovers :)

(sorry if it takes a while to answer all of yalls questions, I’ve been really busy lately)

(Btw I just turned 13 :)
