CPSC 313 & CPSC 317

hey guys just wondering if the cpsc313 and 317 exams are in the orca (cbtf) or on paper. asking since im trying my best to avoid any courses with paper coding exams since coding seems so much more difficult on paper. also whats the difficulty load for these courses for someone who didnt do too well on the earlier cpsc courses.

CPSC317 is in the CBTF, but the quizzes are mostly conceptual with barely any coding questions. The few coding questions I encountered were MCQs or drag-and-drop anyways so you wouldn't be writing code during quizzes.

They’re both in the cbtf. No coding for either. 317 difficulty: quizzes are medium difficulty wise, and you can do fairly well in them if you pay attention in lecture and do any practice they give you. Programming assignments are pretty involved so you need to start early, but they usually have high averages. 313 difficulty: quizzes can be on the harder side, but practicing a lot gives you decent chances to score well. Labs/homeworks are not terribly difficult usually, but don’t start too late on them.

313 is harder than 317 by a gap. Be prepared though to be doing examlets most weeks with both of these. 313 quizzes harder than 317 but the 317 assignments a tad harder than 313 especially the ending ones. I’d say your time is probably going to be in 313 it’s a bit time consuming
