SLIGHT TWEAKS - SEE COMMENTS.
Orange line has been removed. Yellow line will have some busses traveling clockwise and some going counterclockwise around the center of campus instead.

To all branched students looking to move to Storrs.

EDIT - Folks correctly pointed out Spring to Storrs is not applicable. There is a limited process to change campuses in before the usual 54-credit requirement.

I'm a CLAS and UConn MPA alum who worked an on-campus job in an advising office. Unless you can demonstrate substantial new information that was not presented on your application, UConn WILL NOT accept your appeal for a campus change to Storrs. The University received 55,000 applicants, and there will be Storrs students that probably won't have access to housing. I understand this is disappointing, but it's not the end of the world. There is a process to request an early campus change to Storrs: https://campuschange.uconn.edu Make sure you do well. UConn will generally prioritize majors that require courses only offered at Storrs.

I seriously recommend the Community College route. It is incredibly inexpensive, and more or less all of your credits will transfer. UConn maintains a database of how specific courses will transfer here: https://admissions.uconn.edu/apply/transfer/transfer-credit/equivalencies/. If you want the "traditional" college experience, all of the CSUs, including Central and Eastern are good schools. Finally, it is MUCH easier to get into Storrs as a transfer student. I graduated HS with decent extra curriculars, employment experience, and a 3.9 unweighted GPA. I was branched, and disappointed. I attended UMass Amherst for one year, and successful transferred to UConn for my sophomore year with only a 3.1 college GPA. I regret going to UMass that one year because of the insane cost.

It's disappointing, I know - but you can get into Storrs soon, (almost certainly by the end of your Sophomore year). Do well, and good luck. Feel free to PM me any questions.

Storrs commuter, want to hang by Hartford campus

Hi!
I am a student at the storrs campus and I don’t have any classes at the Hartford campus but I was wondering if it would be possible for me to just lounge around/study inside the Hartford building. I live closer to Hartford so there’s about 30-40 mins in my day where I’ll have to wait for a ride from my parents that work nearby.

UConn dining services forgot to give me a meal plan

So I’m a 2nd year student at UConn and am living in the dorms and UConn just kinda didn’t give me a meal plan…

The area I live in is supposed to have a mandatory meal plan cause it’s not an apartment and we don’t have a kitchen area or anything but there’s just nothing in my fee bill and no meal swipes or anything on my account. I don’t have any emails about it or ways to pick a meal plan or anything.

Already tried calling and emailing but they just send you straight to voicemail and the emails are bing all wonky cause of a big outage.

My next idea was to go to the physical office but it’s over in towers (the opposite side of campus from me) and closes at 5pm so I’m gonna have to go tmr.

I’m not from Ct (like 8 hours not from CT) so I kinda desperately need a meal plan. I’ve been relying on friends for swipes into dining halls so far but I’m kinda at a loss for what to do going forward.

———-
EDIT: Problem solved! Just had to go to the physical office in towers and a very sweet lady working there was able to quickly fix it. Essentially the bursar made a mistake and gave me a dining plan but didn’t put it on my record so the meal plan wasn’t useable.

Mass Testing Survey Sign Up

I know the mass gesting survey is open, and the psych professors says filling it out automatically goves one credit. However, I can't see any available studies on my sona?? Do they appear a certain amount of time after you create your account, or should I just email sona support?

First day of you all being back on campus and you already crashed the email service

Gotta love UConn and UConn ITS.

I received a bunch of emails from students taking my class this morning with questions about how to join the class virtually today. Can't reply because the increase in network traffic from you all being back crashed the email service and it has not been working since 11:00AM.

Welcome (back) to UConn huskies. Give your professors a break if they are not responding to you today. They quite literally can't.

EDIT: It seems that a lot of you felt that I was actually blaming the students for this. It was meant as a playful comment and in jest - but it clearly did not land that way. I guess my age is finally catching up to me, and my sense of humor getting dull. The main point of the post was to let you all know that some professors might not be able to respond to your email, and it wasn't for their lack of trying.

You live and you learn

Freshman having trouble making friends

Okay so 2 days ago, I moved to Storrs and I’m having a bit of a hard time making friends. I’ve mostly been aimlessly walking around campus to get my steps in, but seeing all the other freshmen already in their friend groups is making me feel pretty left out. Not to mention my roommate is just a straight up NPC so I plan on joining a couple of clubs (hoping that works out) and I also signed up for the BLACC to try and meet people.
If anyone is down to be friends, I'm totally open to it! I'm just looking for people who are willing to go out and do things, especially if you're a bit more outgoing than me. Just as a heads-up, I'm a Black guy. If any of you guys are interested in hanging out, feel free to text me or drop a comment below!

I’m a little lost on campus and have no idea where to go haha i’ve pretty much just been walking will like a chicken with my head cut off. i came to the women’s center but got nervous as I saw no lounge or meeting room. If anyone’s got some insight about this i’d appreciate it!!!

MCB 2610 with Dr.Rossi

I've looked up her RateMyProfessor, and it seems like she's not a good teacher. My learning style in class is usually rewriting the notes from lecture slides and condensing/making sense of them later, but should I instead just write down what she's saying about the content on the slide and note the slide number? Anyone who took her class recently and has any advice, please share. Thank you!

Parking help

Post image
1 Upvotes

This is my schedule. What would you suggest as a commuter where to park for my first week of classes. I don’t have a parking pass yet. I’m just now learning and adjusting

r/UCONN 1d ago

Why do people not use the UConn book pass for 250 if books are super expensive? Also not sure if I’m looking at my classes right for materials is confusing.

I’m taking 5 courses. This is just for 3 of them

BIOL 1107

The e book cost 99 dollars and then we need a laboratory manual which I don’t even know where to find that.

STAT 1100Q

Then for stats we need a e book which is $106 , then web assign for homework which is $133 (also why do we need to pay for a homework website?? crazy)

Then a mini software package which I think is free.

Chem 1127 Q

for chemistry we have a online website for homework I think is free? Then labflow which cost 80 dollars.

These 3 classes are almost 400 alone, not even counting my other 2. Does this seem right?

I hate it here

I literally cannot make friends and when I do, they all go ahead and do stuff without me. Ive been eating snacks from my dorm all day today bc I’m too scared to go to the dining hall alone this early in and I just hate everything. hopefully when classes start tomorrow I can make friends there. is it normal to feel this way?

Parking

Hi, I'm a commuter student and I don't have a parking pass. I'm taking a class at the Bousfield Psych building (it's a lab that goes after 5pm) and was wondering what is the best place to park to not have to pay that much? I know South Garage is close by but I was wondering if there's another lot I could go to that is free after 5. I don't mind having to walk (to a certain point lol).
