There's some good interviews in here, but it doesn't have a lot of views overall. Has anyone else watched these, I've only watched a couple they seem pretty interesting.

Sunday 4th October at KOLA Basement, Portsmouth.

This was the most excited I have been for a gig for some time. Gogol Bordello have been on my bucket list to see for about 15 years, and something had always stopped me from seeing them any time they have been over. I finally caught them yesterday, and (spoilers) it was worth it.

Split Dogs in support - really enjoyable overall, awesome riffs at a breakneck speed, they oozed charisma and style. Fun to watch. I wasn't mad keen on the singer's voice, but I was alone in that opinion.

Gogol Bordello - a slow start with 'Ignition', and this would become a pattern, the crowd didn't seem to go for the new songs, which was a shame for me, because I love the new album. The three that followed - 'I would never wanna be young again', 'Not a Crime' and 'Wanderlust King' breathed life into the room. 'Wanderlust' in particular was the highlight for me, it's one of my favourite songs of all time, and the buzz was incredible - the crowd sang and danced along with gusto. They followed with a bit of a breather in 'My Campanjera' and 'Dance Around a Fire', before the crowd jumped along as more musicians joined for 'From Boyarka to Boyaca' - the best received new song of the night. 'Immigraniada' was a singalong with hands raised, before 'We Mean It, Man!' and 'Life Is Possible Again' - muted from the crowd, but I loved both. Mishto! came before 'No Time For Idiots'. Any song that starts with "You might be Socrates, or you might be Confucius" is a winner for me. "Start Wearing Purple" was the one everyone was waiting for, and the crowd took to it with riotous enthusiasm.

After a break, frontman Eugene came out alone to start 'Alcohol', and the other seven members joined one by one throughout the song, which was a remarkable thing to witness. 'Pala Tute' came before the storming finale - "Think Locally, Fuck Globally", which gave us the most riotous pit of the evening, right at the end, before the band walked off stage to 'Redemption Song' as performed by Joe Strummer, leaving me feeling like I'd jumped in the sea. What a band, what a night, what a performance. Easily in the top five of live bands I have seen.

The Venue - Lovely, big with an intimate feeling. Balcony available for those who want a more chilled experience.

The Vibes - Great. The crowd was warm and friendly, and all ages. I wish we'd had more energy for the new songs, though.

The Criticism - No "Through the Roof 'n' Underground. I love 'Wristcutters: A Love Story' and really wanted to see that one live. If you haven't seen it, you should - it's on Youtube - it will stay with you for a long time.

I’ve never even been to England. From South America but was living in California when this was released and I loved this album. Just curious how it was received by the scene in England (or even in London). I know nothing about the band or its members other than this album.

Saw Riskee at Portsmouth last night, and thought I’d scribble my thoughts on them and the support acts!

C.O.G. (Children of God) - slow metal riffs, with a singer who had a pulpit leaning into the preaching gimmick. Very metal, very slow, thudding riffs, very not for me I’m afraid, but I respect it.

Dog Rotten - coming from SE London, with a sound like someone took a hardcore band like Aus Rotten and Run DMC and smashed them together. Really high energy performance from the two singers and I loved every minute of it. Scotty and Jimbo from Riskee jumped in to freestyle on one of their songs, and it was awesome. Will definitely try and catch these guys again down the line.

Riskee and the Ridicule - every time I see them, they get better. Opening with the punchy new single ‘Ghetto Blaster’ warmed everyone up for the more familiar ‘Banger’, then a singalong for ‘Our Time’. ‘God Tier’ and ‘Body Bag’ got the crowd jumping, ‘My Name’ had a lot of energy, and ‘Molotov Cocktails’ and ‘Young and Beautiful’ gave the crowd timely breaks from the sweaty mosh pit at the front as we sang every word with our fists in the air. ‘Kaboom!’ And ‘Accelerate’ ended the night with pandemonium at the front and a brilliantly sweaty and remarkably well behaved pit. Excellent from start to finish.

If you haven’t seen Riskee yet and they are anywhere near you, get on it. They never disappoint.

Hey hey. Hope you’re good. I’m going to be in Wales for work late October to early december and want to know if you guys had any recommendations for gigs I could go to or venues I can check out? If you can include venues where I can maybe roll up last minute and see a show or jam session that would be great!

Beyond music I would love to meet with any anarchists or punks in the area, so if there are any social events that would be great! I’m a 32 black woman from England if that is relevant at all just wanted to put that out there. More inclusive the space the better but it’s not a dealbreaker at all
