Haven’t had a chance to test it yet, but thought some of y’all might appreciate the pics. iPhone 17pro Max and business card for size comparison. Yes, it’s thicker than the UTR but still pocketable.

I love the little UTR but the range is very limiting for anything bigger than a hotel room. I’m usually in AirBnBs or camping. I was about to pick up a Swiss Army knife to boost the UTR or my Starlink Mini so this came out at the perfect time.

I’ll test it at my apartment building’s pool. We have wifi on the roof, but only inside and it won’t stretch to the loungers well enough to do any work. I hope this big antenna eliminates the need for me to put my Starlink on a neighboring lounger. Yeah, I work remote from a pool, or anywhere lol

Edit to add: the UI App lets me see and manage both UTRs. It seems to think which ever one I’m not actively connected to is new, but when I click on it/switch the configs are still live and saved. Makes me think the configuration lives on the UTR itself and not the gateway. TBD on if they both teleport at the same time.

Edit to add 2: I tested the LR on my apartment buildings rooftop pool area. I’m in a condensed downtown area. I connected the UTR-LR to a neighboring buildings open wifi (at least 50M from nearest AP). The UTR-LR was receiving the wifi at an excellent -56dbm while my iPhone was getting poor and slow -75 to -85 dbm.

The LRs network covered the entire outdoor pool area. Mostly line of sight. However, let’s say I was working remote and wanted to talk while walking around, I would’ve had plenty of range. I didn’t see any drop in signal quality until I went behind a concrete wall. It certainly covered more than I expected and much more than the base UTR.

The LR uplinked to the open WiFi with no hiccups. The overall experience has been seamless. I can’t speak too much to max speed. On the open WiFi I tested it looked like download was limited to 50mb/s (bottlenecked by the neighboring network) but upload was topping out around 100.

I have a USW Flex that has been in service for a little over a year. Suddenly the PoE devices connected to the switch all when offline. I am unable to get the ports to provide power anymore. The switch is powered by the 60w PoE adapter that I purchased with the switch. There used to be settings in the controller to tell the switch that it is using the 60w power brick but it seems like all of that has been removed from the interface.

Here are things I tried:

I updated my controller from an older version running the legacy network application to the new Unifi OS server. All the tutorials online refer to being able to switch the legacy GUI to be able to change the setting. Before updating the controller though there was a message about

"Forgot" the switch and re-adopted

Factory reset the switch.

Tried booting with no PoE devices plugged in.

Moved the switch to right next to the power adapter to eliminate cable issues.

I'm not sure at this point if the switch has failed or if it is just thinking it doesn't have the power budget due to software issues and not being able to select the power supply in the new controller. It doesn't show anything in the controller about PoE load or available power budget like my other switches. Any help would be appreciated.

In Unifi Site Manager, I can see an aggregate of high and critical alerts from my various Ubiquiti firewalls, but certain of them are grayed out, and a handful are grayed out with a note that says the owner needs to enable logging. The latter situation seems obvious, but what about all the other grayed out devices on which I am definitely the owner, and can otherwise see the logs if I go to their individual site pages. What am I missing?

As title states… have a shop outside of a main campus and am wondering if I can get away with just a UDM SE for multicast traffic or if I need a second switch?

I have a SAMBA domain controller that would like to check the time a local time server (same happens when trying Google, 8.8.8.8) but keeps getting blocked. I know I can make a rule to allow it, but is there any risk to that?

I'm new to using vlans, and am trying to separate my work-computer from the rest of my stuff as my first experience. My intention is to setup additional vlans later on.

I have my work-computer plugged into a U6-IW. I created a new network via Settings -> Networks -> Create New, and then found my work computer in the Client Devices tab and set the Virtual Network Override option to the new network that I made.

I'm aware that *generally* speaking, it's desired to tag the physical ethernet port with the vlan that you're interested in, so that a change in MAC address doesn't invalidate your settings. I just did this to try things out.

I was pretty confused when that my work-computer does get a DHCP lease for the right network, but it has no connectivity to anything.

Only once I changed the physical ethernet port that its connected to to the vlan in question do I get connectivity. Changing the OTHER ports on the same U6-IW doesn't fix it. It has to be the SPECIFIC port that the work-computer is attached to.

Notably, this doesn't appear to be impacting things on *OTHER* switch models. For example, i have several (old) US 8 PoE 150W units, none of which appear to have the same behavior. I've left all of their ports alone, and configured the "Virtual Network Override" for some hardwired devices attached to them just to see what the behavior would be. No problems there.

What's confusing me on this is that the tooltip for Tagged VLAN Management says

Tagged ports can carry multiple VLANs and are used for traffic tagged with a VLAN ID.
With Allow All, configured VLANs are automatically tagged on this port. Tagged traffic matching a non-existent VLAN ID is dropped.
VLAN Management can be customized to only tag specific VLANs or block all.

Changing the port on the U6-IW to Allow All, Block All, or Custom (and selecting the vlan in question) all have no impact on connectivity.

I used an AI programming tool (Specifically, Kiro) to do a little bit of digging into this using the console's rest API and it is inferring that the uplink port on the U6-IW is set to block all vlans except the "native" one unless I specifically change one of the port's native vlans. I'm not sure I believe it, given the problem persists if i change the native vlan of one of the other ports.

Anyway, is this a hardware limitation of the U6-IW, a software bug, or am I simply doing it wrong?

Just recently picked up a UNAS pro and have a 20TB and 2x 18TB NAS drives available to install. Well, while waiting for the 2x 18TBs to arrive in the mail, I initialized the storage pool with the 20TB hard drive and transferred all of my data to the 20TB (~13TB used). When I received my 2x 18TB drives in the mail the system informed me that they couldn’t be added to the initial storage pool because the initial drive was larger than the joining drives. How can I recover from this and use all of my drives in a raid 5 configuration? (I know that it will revert my 20tb drive to 18TB). Would the best course of action be to setup a 2nd storage pool with the 2x 18TB drives and then xfer my data to that pool, then move the 20TB to the 2nd storage pool?

Meshed 2 sites via SD-Wan, I am now showing 12mbps download at one site and 12mbps upload at the other. This seems excessive when all devices are idle and topology shows minimal usage.

All communication appears to be from the UCG-Ultras.

Is this a configuration error or expected? This leave me with 8mbps upload headroom at the site uploading constantly.

I can't seem to get my unifi device bridge iot to show up in the console's unifi devices tab for adoption. I've got "meshing" checked for my unifi express and u6 lite. Under settings->advanced, I have wireless meshing and "new wifi device auto-link" checked.

Any suggestions?

Does the gateway support CAT5 for access points?

I got hold of my Unifi 5G Backup and installed it outside along with G6 180.
I am based in Switzerland and despite trying several providers, Swisscom/Salt/Sunrise I still don't get 5G Redcap in my location. On 4G LTE I am getting approx 50 Mbps as download which is good for a backup option, however I was hoping for something better.

Has anyone successfully connected the 5G backup in Switzerland/Germany area? If yes, which carrier?

I'm new to Unifi (switching from pfsense) and I cannot get domain policy based routing to work. I entered several ip lookup domains to route through a third party VPN with a kill switch and I keep getting my WAN IP on those lookups.

I know the VPN is working because it routes traffic through the VPN when I give it an entire source network/source machine or when I use the IP based destinations. It's just the domain based destinations that don't work.

My upstream DNS on my WAN IP is listed as Cloudflare while the upstream DNS provider on my VPN connection is an internal IP. My computer gets my Unfi FW gateway as the DNS server though.

I'm on 10.6.101. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi, I manage a site with 2 fiber WAN inputs but both coming from the same exchange, so when one goes down they both do. I have them set as load balancing for the bandwidth to ensure good service for the up to 4000 connections that could be made.

It’s also in a semi remote area at the end of the fiber network, so service interruptions are rare but they do happen.

I know how to set up 2 WANs as either load balancing or one preferred the other failover, is there a way for me to keep the 2 fiber WANs load balancing but to add a third backup WAN for failover only?

I just acquired a USG4 to swap in place of my USG3... anything special I should do in preparation?

When my previous USG3 failed, I plugged in a new one, and after it adopted and updated, everything proceeded as before.

Should I maybe connect this via LAN port, adopt and update first, THEN do the swap?

Please don't tell me it's old, obsolete, such-and-such option is cheap, etc. etc. I already have the USG4, it's going in place of the existing USG3, that's it, unless someone has a spare UDM they want to send me. I don't have money to spend on more gear.

When home,
Teleport shows my devices connected to my network fine.
But… when I switch my phone to cellular, and have teleport on,
It dosnt show any devices.
I even tried connecting to a coffee shop network (WiFi), and turned on teleport…. No devices list or pop up as a reference to connect to.

I did a test of turning on teleport,
Connecting on cellular to a raspberry pi on my network (a ssh app), and it worked.

But I could only “see” it available from the UniFi app, not WiFi man

I recently switched from a mesh setup of Asus ET12 routers where Geforce Now was working perfectly. I now have a DR7 and a U7 Pro and my gaming machine is hard wired to the access point.

After a few seconds of playing Geforce Now, I get a "your connection is spotty" and the game quits on me even though there is no packet loss or drops. I ran a ping test in the background and that had no drops.

I've tried enabling and disabling Smart Queus, enabling/disabling UPnP, turned off IDS/IPS, and enabled/disabled Flow Control.

My gaming device is on my trusted VLAN, and I get the same issue over both ethernet and wifi. I have also tried a different device and got the same issue.

Lastly I have also tried connecting to both the DR7 and the U7 Pro and got the same issue.

I am at a complete loss as to what to try next. If anyone has any possible solution, it would be much appreciated.

I'm troubleshooting a wireless setup using a Ubiquiti Bullet AC (5 GHz) and running into unexpectedly poor range and throughput during initial testing. I'd appreciate some sanity checks on my hardware matching and airOS configuration. I can only get:

• 10 meters line-of-sight: Link potential shows 100%, but real-world throughput tops out at ~35 Mbps. (my main problem is not the bandwidth but the range)
• 20-30 meters line-of-sight: The radio completely loses the link / drops connection.

Tests & Antennas Tried So Far

1. PLANET ANT-OM5D-KIT with N-Female to N-Female Adapter (8 dBi Omni, 5 GHz):
   • Result: Extremely unstable. 35 Mbps at 10m, complete link loss at 30m.

1. Generic 12 dBi Omni with N-Female to SMA adapter:
   • Result: Managed to get ~75 Mbps at close/moderate range. link loss at 30-35m

Going to be upgrading a mesh network at a campground that currently has 1 wired AP and 4 meshing APs. All UNIFI. Wondering what everyone's suggestions are for replacements APs. They are currently UAC-AC-M-Pro

I'm new to all this and am looking at installing some APs instead of my current setup. I have AT&T 1G Fiber internet with the AT&T modem and a TP Link extender, 1872sqft single story home built in 2020 with 9' ceilings throughout. (The blue rectangles are archways).

I was thinking of getting 2 U7 Pro XGS APs (red circles), running a Cloud Gateway Fiber, and a PRO XG 8 PoE switch. I have an in-wall wifi enclosure in my master closet (green star). I plan on running Cat6 cable through my attic and a 10G SFP+ direct attach cable from the gateway to the switch.

I'm wondering if this is overkill or if this would make a great setup? Also, would I still need the AT&T modem or is that what the gateway is for?

Any insight or recommendations are greatly welcomed and appreciated.

I did connect my new USW-Lite-8-POE (replacement for RMA) to make sure it was working. It did get adopted and updated, but before that finished almost the same time all my APs (U7-Lite, U7 mesh, U& Outdoor) started updating! My main switch (USW-Ultra-60W) showed its status as "Adopting" and never got back to normal in my Control Panel. My network was working fine. I had manually power it off and back on before I could manage it again....

I do not like it. Anybody ever experienced something like this?

I have a central AC unit with one of these serial-communicating thermostats, so I can't just buy a smart thermostat without losing features like the modulating heater and diagnostic data from the thermostat, so I installed a USL Relay to interrupt the contactor to the outside unit.
When I am home, the system operates normally, but when no one is home (detected by the cell phones being off the Wi-Fi), the relay stays open until the inside temp reads above 85, as read by the USL Environmental temp sensor. Fun little proof-of-concept project if anyone was looking to do something similar.
