I was in the middle of class and it took me about 40 seconds to sign up and by the time I checked there million boxes it was sold you. Really irritated, I moved here a year ago from a place where nothing happens. This is the third time this year I’ve tried to go to something but tickets sell out instantly. Feels like I need to code/get a bot.

I’m aware that printing for commercial use is not allowed within the graphic design printing lab is not allowed. However, I wanted to make some stickers for an event me and my friend are going to. But someone told me I wouldn’t be able to do that because it wasn’t classwork. Now this person doesn’t working in the printing lab and I see that the printing lab offers the ability to make buttons and bulk sticker orders which doesn’t feel very classwork aligned? Unless I’m mistaken of course. Has anyone printed something that was for personal use at the printing lab and could tell me if that’s okay to do?

Hi everyone. Before school started I called residency and asked about my eligibility. My father has lived in Las Vegas for the past 4 years but my mom claimed me on taxes all four years(going against the divorce agreement). They said they wouldn’t be able to accept me because I went to a CA highschool, but I also attended a Utah highschool so that makes no sense. I went in to financial aid this week and they said that I should be able to get residency and to re submit the form and have my father write a statement about why he didn’t claim me. I’ve submitted those documents and unlv said it’s past the time to turn in these documents but why didn’t I get accepted before I even came to the school? I genuinely cannot afford the 50,000 dollars and need help. I feel like this isn’t fair because I was turned down the first time with no practical reasoning. Is there any way I can talk to someone else that can actually read through the docs and talk to me so I can get residency? I am a first year)

At first, it was public health or public policy. I choose public policy. Now it’s public policy or social work. I want to help people either way, although social work is more hands-on and personal. I do care about the salary out of college and I also care about how hard it is to find a job outside of College.

One thing about public policy is that the starting salary is decent, but it’s harder to find a job because you have to network and do internships. Social work I heard is easy to find a job out of college, but the salaries are not that good.

Equal pros and cons and yet I have no idea what to decide. Public health is out of the window. Now I gotta choose between public policy and social work. I don’t start UNLV till fall 2027 after I graduate CSN so I have time but still.

I’m taking biochem this sem with Dangerfield, I’m having a hard time trying to find ways to study for this class. I don’t know how and where to start. When I look at the lecture slides and the textbook I understand somethings but I don’t have a strong background in chemistry.

Any tips on where to start or any resources or class materials to look at?

I'm a HS Senior taking dual enrollment classes for General ED, but I'm torn between what major to pick. I was aiming for CS, but the hefty math turned me away from it, but it's not a dealbreaker. A bunch of people recommended a CSEC degree as an alternative.

I'm more worried about graduation and finding jobs/internships in or out of school. Which one provides more security or gives me the best bang for my buck?

I just started my freshman year at UNLV. During welcome week I was approached by a couple girls who were advertising their church called hope church movement. As a Christian, I was interested in it because I’d love to have a small group of girls to share my faith with and stuff, but nothing like extremely involved since I am currently adjusting to a new environment after moving to Vegas from out of state. The girls seemed extremely welcoming and super friendly. I attended two of their events and started getting suspicious vibes after talking to one of the girls for almost an hour just about our lives and stuff. She told me multiple things that seemed a bit concerning. I’ve had experience in my hometown with cult tactics and I fear that I recognized some of these while talking to this older girl. First off, multiple of these girls are already graduated, meaning that they are not even active UNLV students. They graduated a few years ago and even getting their degree, they decided to work for the church ministry. Now you can say that’s because of other reasons, but I talked to two other girls who are current UNLV student I believe who said that they may not continue to pursue their career because “God is calling them to serve the ministry” and after hearing this multiple times from other girls I can’t help but think that this is influenced upon them by higher church authority. Secondly, two of these girls are married. Married to these guys and they are all “mission leaders”. I thought maybe this was just similar to how Mormons do stuff and that was already a red flag, but listen to this. After doing some research on this church I hear that they basically have these mission leaders get married to each other and live with each other. Seems like it aligns with some of these girls I’ve been talking to. They target anyone but primarily freshman girls. My thought is that obviously they don’t have u doing any of that cult stuff until you get higher up into their ministry or whatever. I decided not to keep showing up to their events and I met this girl this first week of school and she came to me and told me to avoid the hope church movement, and I asked her why and she said that they get you to join their church and stuff and they are all really wonderful people but it really is down to its core, a cult. She said she had a friend who was part of it for years and it was a great community and all that, but they kept pushing her to be apart of the ministry instead pursuing her career and they kept asking her to make these commitments and trying to convince her to do all these different things, so she left it. Cult behavior to me…. I’m not saying these are bad people at all, but it is really strange. People don’t understand that not all cults have to be some big secret evil thing. A cult can simply be a group of people who slowly invite u to be apart of something larger and try to ask u to commit ur life to something bigger (within their church). Be careful out there guys. You can join these groups as they seem like really nice people, but don’t get too involved if you can help it, cause I’ve been warned about it and I came on here to ask if anyone has an experience with them to share.

I took a dual enrollment class in my senior year of high school (2022) and earned a D. Ever since then I haven’t attended UNLV and have earned a 3.8 at CSN. I wasn’t aware that the dual enrollment class would count for my UNLV GPA and now I’m kind of screwed because I need a 2.75 to be admitted into my major this coming spring. Is there anything I could do besides just taking more classes to get it up?

I'm a 19m year old freshman majoring in Biology, and I'm not from America which makes things a lot difficult because I don't speak English fluently and sometimes it's frustrating when I try to talk to people and I don't know how to express what I want to say. And even worse, I'm so introvert and I'm still adapting to the American culture. I know there were a lot of opportunities to make friends before the semester started, but I was in my hometown all the summer and I couldn't attend anything.

Maybe I'm a little in a hurry because It's the first week but I do want to socialize and meet people not just to practice my English, but also to make friends and hang out with. I've lived in Las Vegas for one year, but I only have 2 friends and they are not studying at UNLV. Also, I'm a full time student so I don't have free schedule to assist to activities that I would like to go :c.

Hope this is not too long, I going to give clubs a shot and try to attend as many events as I can. Soooo, If someone would like to make an international friend and maybe learn a little Spanish, my hobbies are photography (I have a Sony a7cr and I still learning how to use it), video games (rocket league and CS2 mainly), and watching short films (exploring human emotions). :)

I took summer classes and I know the millennium scholarship disburses after you’re done with your classes but when exactly would it disburse? since it still hasn’t disbursed for me should i call the financial aid office or is it more later in the semester when we get it.

I want to get the flexible dining plan but it says “The price reflected is the per semester rate. This meal plan is an annual contract billed over two semesters. You will be charged once in the fall and again in the spring.” I know I can down/upgrade to a different plan but I wanted to know if I could completely cancel it for the spring semester because I don’t know what my spring schedule would be.

If you look at universities around the nation, many of them have a song that’s associated with them, that gets played at entrances or after the game or at big moments. And I don’t just mean a university fight song. Tennessee has Rocky Top, Alabama has Dixieland Delight, Michigan has Mr. Brightside, these are just some famous examples.

Frankly I don’t get how Mr. Brightside wasn’t already a UNLV song, given that The Killers are from Vegas and the drummer went to UNLV

Anyway, something that could give UNLV football a better atmosphere is a song like that that every Rebel could sing along to. Is it possible for that to happen, and if so, what could it be? What comes to mind for me is I Write Sins Not Tragedies by P!ATD, a Las Vegas based band of course and a song that would be amazing to hear a full stadium singing. Viva Las Vegas seems like a solid and obvious choice as well. But what do you think?
