White South Africans who come to the United States as refugees could get up to $4,500 per person in initial federal support beginning Oct. 1, nearly double the current amount, four people familiar with the change in policy told The Washington Post.

The assistance — up from about $2,400 — would be the highest level to date, one of the people said, speaking on the condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to share the information.

• Political and Activist Connections The Ed Uihlein Family Foundation>, led by Richard and his wife, donated $10,000 to <entity>Accuracy in Media, a group that funded campaigns doxxing pro-Palestinian college students in 2022 and 2023. While no direct aid to Israeli entities was found in available records, Uihlein supports pro-Israel politicians such as Ted Cruz and conservative groups like the Club for Growth. 
• Political Influence and Policy: Adelson is a decisive force in shaping U.S.–Israel relations, credited with persuading President Donald Trump to recognize Jerusalem as Israel's capital, move the U.S. embassy there, and endorse Israeli sovereignty over the Golan Heights.  She actively advocates for the annexation of the West Bank and has been described by critics as an "Israel First" donor who conditions her financial support on these hardline stances.  In October 2025, Trump publicly acknowledged her outsized role in his Middle East strategy during a speech to the Knesset. 
• Political & Military Ties: Recent reports from 2026 describe Brockman as a major financial backer of Donald Trump and allege deepening connections between OpenAI's technology and Israeli national security applications, though OpenAI denies direct partnerships with the IDF.
• Paul Singer is a billionaire hedge fund manager and ardent Zionist who has dedicated significant resources to strengthening Israel's economy and political standing.  He founded Start-Up Nation Central in 2012, investing approximately $20 million to deepen ties between Israeli and global tech sectors, a move critics describe as outsourcing U.S. jobs to Israel to counter the BDS movement. 
• Ken Griffin, the billionaire founder of Citadel, has been a vocal supporter of Israel and a staunch critic of pro-Palestinian protests on U.S. college campuses.  He has described these demonstrations as "performative art" and "anarchy," arguing they hinder rather than help the pursuit of peace or truth. 
• Musk has consistently praised Israel's technological sector, calling it "number one by far in the world" for innovation per capita during a virtual address to the Smart Mobility Summit in May 2026.  His relationship with Israeli leadership remains close, with Benjamin Netanyahu defending Musk against controversy in early 2025 by labeling him a "great friend of Israel." While supporters view his stance as a pragmatic opposition to terrorism, critics argue his refusal to visit Gaza and his platform's content policies demonstrate a bias that overlooks Palestinian suffering.
