They're as professional as it takes to keep the ship afloat and put warheads on foreheads. Any sailor in any navy will find the first wet hole for himself the first port call there is. If you think other navys are different, you're wrong.

100% agree my guy but the Navy is gonna Navy. Critically thinking, Sailors and Marines wouldn't get piss drunk, start a fight with the locals, and end up in jail. Yet they do and they're still able to rule the fucking seas like no other Navy in the world ever has. It's a duality of capability the wisest of philosophers can't explain. From your point of view, you're either an officer or have never been in any military.

Not accurate. There is a long history of all navies, merchant fleets, etc, of sailors/Marines/crew spending their money to dip their wicks on shore leave.

Hell, look at the British Royal Navy...back in the days of the tall ships when they ruled the seas, when a ship pulled into port there would be bumboats pulling alongside selling all manner of shit to the sailors, including transporting prostitutes to be brought on board. Since they didn't want to risk losing crew by letting them off the ship, this practice was often overlooked by the officers on watch duty. Had to keep the lads happy enough not to mutiny.

Anyway, it's common amongst all navies of the world. Simple human nature and as long as they don't go absolutely crazy it has no impact on their ability to do their duties and maintain their professionalism where it actually matters.
