I wouldn’t be surprised. I did my undergrad at a different university, but there was a common saying amongst female students there, “Pike spikes”

u/matriarchalfigure 1d ago
It was Pike and Phi Sigma Kappa.

u/noguarantee11 1d ago
Phi Sigma Kappa did not host any parties this weekend? Do you mean Kappa Sigma?
0
u/matriarchalfigure 12h ago
No, they were told it was Phi Sigma Kappa and Pike.

u/noguarantee11 12h ago
In the email students received, it said on-campus, and they did not host any on-campus events this weekend. Maybe I am mistaken, but I haven’t heard anyone else say it was Phi Sigma Kappa. Pike, yes.

You are really are having to delete your comments, because you add rude ones before being shown you are incorrect. You have been proven as mistaken enough. Take the L. Spend time on the victims at this point.

u/noguarantee11 11h ago
? I deleted one because I worded it wrong? When was I rude? You are spreading information with no proof other than hearsay, and I’m citing the facts of what I- as a student- received in my inbox..

u/matriarchalfigure 9h ago
You received the standard email shown above? Are you in the Greek system? I’m guessing you aren’t. Otherwise, it’s known.
Yes, you were quick to say then, and now, that info is false only because you don’t know. Recall you were adamant that it can’t be Pike?

u/matriarchalfigure 9h ago
Oh, the university has clarified to media that the events happened in fraternity houses. Four separate incidents, at least three included sexual assault, and at least two were drugged. You really need to keep up.

u/noguarantee11 7h ago
I’m going to clarify this once for you because you are clearly confused. I said yes, Pike was most likely one of the houses responsible.
I also said that Phi Sigma Kappa did not host an event during the dates when the incidents took place.
You are posting online that they were one of the responsible houses, and they were not.** **
I am fully aware of what took place over the weekend, and I am disgusted by it.
The only houses that had on-campus events were Pike, Kappa Sigma, and Sigma Chi.
Therefore, it is two of those three responsible.
I hope this is clearer.-8

How do you know that? Also Pike Spike happened at Chattanooga- there have never been any reported incidents at Pike UTK. If there have been it needs to be reported

Pike UTK made national news for bad behavior. Never forget https://www.cnn.com/2012/09/25/us/tennessee-fraternity-suspended

Bro Pike is known around campus as the worst frat and where you get drugged

u/matriarchalfigure 1d ago edited 1d ago
It’s being discussed with other frats. Edited to add: Other fraternities on campus were told. My kid is in a different frat, and freshman are having to take some safety classes and some will be trained on narcan administration.

I was appalled to read that has anyone heard which frat it was?

u/RedditWarped 1d ago
What was the details on it
9
u/Alleywayapples 1d ago
It said there were multiple reports of four separate incidents at the same on-campus frat house. Three incidents included a reported sexual assault and two included suspected drugging.

u/Healthy_Turnover_627 1d ago
The email posted in this thread, says "houses", not same house for all incidents.

u/Alleywayapples 1d ago
you’re right my bad. Idk if that’s better or worse

u/Healthy_Turnover_627 1d ago
Yeah...
Not good either way but was just making sure the facts (as known right now) stay kinda correct.
It's a sad situation and hope it's taken seriously by the University, students, and the public.

Other frats got some updates today, because there will be some freshman safety training. It was Pike and Phi Sigma Kappa.
The young victims also likely shared with their friends. My kid is in a different frat and was updated today.
1
u/BranchBig7363 16h ago
can you give updates? are the ones involved getting punished?
3
u/matriarchalfigure 13h ago
My kid wasn’t aware of the punishment, but some frats are taking serious action. They are training members to identify vulnerable students at parties, sober monitors at parties/events to patrol for vulnerable women to get them in a safe place, narcan training, and other initiatives. If you want women to feel safe with your frat, you have to be proactive at this point.
I won’t disclose my kid’s frat, but as a mom, the steps being taken are admirable, thoughtful, and hopefully, will prevent this from happening to other women.

It does sound from the updated release on the website that some (not all) incidents were referred to the police.

Really asking: what’s the benefits of frat?
2
u/Ferret-in-a-Box 1d ago
Networking. If one of your frat bros has a very wealthy daddy with very valuable connections, it can give you a big boost especially in this labor market where a large percentage of new hires are referrals. The same is true for sororities (although it wasn't worth it to me enough to join one) but sororities don't throw parties where crap like this happens. So they would still be useful without allowing house parties. But those rich donor daddies of the frat bros would never allow that.

how much longer till they get kicked bro 😭 do us all a favor

I don’t even know why people still entertain their darties. I avoid them at all costs because every story I’ve heard includes girls getting knocked out even from just drinking water.

u/Odd-Scarcity5288 19h ago
Honestly not surprised to see this headline after all the sorority posts by all the proud mamas on the book of faces last week. The Greek system at UTK has always been notorious for parties, was once even listed as a top party school by Playboy magazine, times change but stay the same..and yes, one of the two frats mentioned were a problem back then

I’m 30F now, but went to a frat party 10 years ago with my cousin. I woke up the next morning in another frat house on the other side of campus and my shoes were completely missing and I mentally woke up I was in a dude’s car in the McDonald’s drive thru (he was helping me at sunrise). If I hadn’t had my cousin with me, who knows what was going on happen to me because I have no clue what happened from one frat house to the next, where my shoes went, etc…

The email in question:
Ladies, utilize the buddy system and don't drink anything you didn't pour or open yourself.
