From my understanding, it wasn't that long ago when the JP servers made it permanent. I think around the 4.5 Anniversary...

Features don't seem to follow the same schedule as banners, so there's a good chance you'll get it earlier. They're useful for jumping up affinity when you want to access their stories or casual outfits.

The only thing I hope for is that in the future they simplify the bar so it doesn't extend all the sections (especially team trials)

When you log in, theres going to be this shoe. It'll explain it in more detail, but pretty much you fill a gauge by simply playing the game and you'll have access to go on outing with your umas and earn rewards
