Hey there! I'm a Texas teacher looking into starting my masters in either esl/bilingual education or TESOL next spring and UHs online program is one I'm interested in. However, apart from the official page on the website, I can't really find much info about the program anywhere else.

Is anyone here doing this degree right now/done it in the past and can shed some light on how it's ran, experiences with professors, how heavy the course/work load is, etc? I'm in between doing it here, at Texas A&M (made a similar post there as well), or Kansas University's MA in TESOL.

For context, my BA is in Literature and I graduated with my teaching cert for ELA and got the ESL cert one year later. I've mainly taught ESOL at the high school level since, this is my 4th year now.

Not me, but someone I know. Like top 1/3 of class, ultimately looking to get into Bauer, but know that's down the line after establishing a UH GPA. Other option is coming in as an HCC transfer with 15+ hours for the Spring, though grades might not be released in time in December. Mostly just trying to sort out timing options and likelihood of being accepted as a freshman vs transfer.

Hi, this is my second semester in UH, and I’m in a Communications: Film and Media Studies major taking All online classes.

I noticed One of my classes, Intro to Communication Theory, has an abundance of AI assignments, and as someone who is very Anti-AI, it makes me feel very uncomfortable.

I obviously want to try and pass the class, but I’m not sure how to really deal with this, which is why I’m asking if there are any classes like this that don’t use AI.

This might be a dumb question im overthinking. If I swap a class today would it affect my tuition? I just want to change sections since I dont like the time I picked. I do know today is the last day to add a class but I was wondering if it messes with anything financially.

Hi, I'm taking intro to sociology 1301, but it doesn't start until later this month. I just finished talking with my academic advisor, and she wasn't sure if it qualified me for a full-time student and that it might mess up my financial aid. Does anyone know if it does, and should I swap out this class for another. I am talking 12 credits this semester, sociology being one of them.

I'm thinking of taking an art course as a replacement for my core creative arts that will start August 24th and not later. I just want 12 credits this semester and I'm a freshmen.

I have to host this tabling event for a class assignment, and I thought I could get some perspective from students BEFORE I host so it can be more effective and marketable. My topic is on Mental Health Awareness that is supposed to increase awareness of anxiety, depression, burnout, coping etc. I know a lot of students (regardless of their major/situation) who just don't care because they're either fed the same info that can be redundant/generally unhelpful or they aren't comfortable reaching out for support.

I was thinking of including things like including snacks, an interactive game, anger/stress-relieiving activity for our booth so our message is actually effective. Would you guys come up to a table that has things like this or would find the resources we provide to be helpful?

I have an electric car and noticed that some of the parking garages have EV charging spots that are usually empty.

Does anyone know if you’re allowed to park and charge in those spots without having a permit for that specific garage? I have a UH parking permit, just not a garage permit.

I don’t want to risk getting a ticket, so I was wondering if anyone has experience with this or knows how UH Parking handles the EV charging spots.

My daughter is attending u of h and has POTS which makes it difficult to walk far, especially in the heat. Does anyone have recommendations on the best way to get to that building?
