So I found a 1973 dnepr 650 that is only rear wheel drive and has no problems other than a bit of an oil drip, I live somewhere where it snows a lot and I know the all wheel drive is good for snow but would I also be fine with this model? I also wanted to know if parts for it are rare or will it be rather simple to get, and would I be able to in the future be able to turn it into an all wheel drive (I don't know how modifiable this model is)

I’m the passenger and my husband wants to get a good bike but one he likes regardless of if I can ride on it with him purely because he thinks sidecars are cool. but sidecars make me uncomfortable so I just want to find a bike that would be good. He is confident that it would be safe and comfortable with me riding behind him on the bike.
We live rural so something that is comfortable to ride for up to 3 hours. I can’t imagine going that far but you never know. The closest town is 30miles away.

First post in the community that inspired me, by posting my very first motorcycle: a 1985 BMW r80 with Ural sidecar. Leading link fork with dual disk brakes. matching rig wheel (also disc brakes). Block tires. whaddaya think?

I absolutely loved the motorcycle experience during my driving lessons. I figured a sidecar might be a way to share that with others. Also the potential for adventure really spoke to me. I recon the rig will see more use in the coming days because the weather is just turning nice enough to take it out without risking rain on the way back.

I like it a lot, especially the look of it, but i'm honestly not 100% convinced yet. It takes up a lot of garage space and it really does take a big part away from the driving experience. (leaning , cornering, acceleration, overtaking). Also taking it out is a bit more of an ordeal . It doesn't really lend itself toward impromptu racing to a friends house and back to go and watch a football game. Its just too big for that.

But i really do want to give it a fair chance this summer. Especially in the areas where a sidecar can really come into its own. Like camping and little day-trips.
How does one start to go on first little adventures? and make small trips fun, and not just a drive with awkward parking? Id love to hear you guys advice and own experience on that.

Furthermore i plan on making a few modifications.
-The wires are a mess with old cables of previously installed lights and trinkets.
-remove excess reflectors and lights
-The paint could use a polish, especially to try and blend the different shades of spray-paint whites on the sidecar.
-The engine looks black and grimey. i think a brass wirebrush would clean this up nicely?
-Timing, gap, carb, and clutch adjustments.
-Install new exhaust bends. the champagne on these are long gone.

On the long term i'd like the sidecar to sit a bit higher off the road. Like you see in the more off-raod Urals. The wheel rims could use a repaint aswell.

New owner here still learning the ropes. No better way to start than with a vintage 1988 machine!

I recently got my motorcycle license. And i would love to buy a sidecar. I found a dnepr m10 online. The seller says everything is working. Looks like it to me. Does anyone have any tips on what i should look for and what i should know before buying? Also maybe an idea what it is worth so i don't overpay.

Hey y'all! My parents are letting me work on our year old to try to get it running again. It's a 2011 Gear Up Patrol, and this tube that's connecting the two carburetors has a sort of T- connector and it looks like one of the ends is open and pathetic used to have something connecting to it. I've tried Googling and youtubing it but I can't seem to find out what it's for or if it should be open or plugged? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I've got an M-72 sidecar rig and I'm trying to work out whether it's a real wartime bike or a later one. The papers say 1943, but I know that doesn't mean much on its own.

Where exactly are the frame, engine, and gearbox numbers stamped on these, and what should the wartime format look like? Anything I should compare them against?

I've also read that wartime Irbit bikes used cast iron crankcases and gearbox housings because of the aluminium shortage — is that the most reliable tell? What else separates a genuine 1942–45 bike from postwar production?

I bought a 2011 patrol about 8 months ago and unfortunately it’s been in the shop more than in my own garage. The most recent failure is with the final drive. The bolts in the rear differential housing just broke loose.

I’ve called the specialists I know of (Heindl engineering in Ohio, Crawford sales in Michigan and Nashville motorcycle repair) and haven’t had any luck so far.

I’ve called several motorcycle salvage yards and usually get “I don’t even know what that is”

I’m incredibly frustrated and just want to get the part so I can get back on it. Does anybody have any leads on where to call for Ural parts?

Sold my 2012 Patrol last week. Hate to see her go but I'm moving and couldn't take her.

Understood this may be a long shot, but would anyone have a recommendation for a mechanic adept with Urals in southeast Florida near zip 34957? I have 2012 with gas leaking through the carb. A local, non Ural shop has had three cracks at diagnosing and repairing it without success. Regrettably I don't have much in the way of mechanical skills.

Just for starters: i don't need to sync my carbs and at the moment i don't intend to do so because She runs perfectly fine.

I was just interested and like to know things even if i may never need it.

On my other motorcycles there are very obvious ports to attache a syncronization tool, either on the carburetor or the air ducts. On my 650 from 1992 there are no vacuum ports. Is that just an unlucky combination of parts, something like you have a mix of (replacement) parts without vacuum ports (altough they should be original as far as i know) or is it more like they were synced at the factory, it should usually stay that way, if you wan't to mess with that figure it out yourself how to do it.

Has anyone made their sidecar into a wheelchair carrier? My wife’s disabled and I was thinking about a cool way to get her out and to places. So I wanted to know if anyone has made a wheelchair accessible sidecar.

Last Saturday I was sitting with my older brother in the garage just chatting and looking at his old bike. We were talking about how fun it would be to get a new motorcycle for weekend rides and trips. I was surprised to know that my brother had already seen a few options online but I had no idea which models were reliable and stylish. Especially we were thinking about bikes that could handle city roads as well as long trips. We visited a nearby showroom but they only had a few basic models and nothing seemed very special.

Eventually my brother suggested that we should check online marketplaces to see more options. Therefore scrolling online marketplaces like alibaba and a few others I was amazed by the huge variety of Russia motorcycles. There were small commuter bikes and heavy duty touring models and sporty designs and even electric ones. Some were simple and affordable and some looked more advanced with extra features. They came in many price ranges and styles for different uses. I realized how many choices we completely miss when relying only on local stores.

So what do you think is the best way to choose a Russia motorcycle? Should we focus more on design, performance or price when buying from local stores or online marketplaces?

I'm selling a 2012 Ural Tourist 1wd and had some pricing questions.

Condition is Good - some chrome is missing, dented fender, a touch of rust on the hack.

However, I have new wheels, tubes, and tires all the way around. Carbs are in excellent condition (local mechanic got obsessed with them), no rust in the tank and the fluids/filters have been changed every 500 miles.

New bench seat and new base seat for the hack as well, and it comes with a box of spare parts 😂

Matte Black paint and the Consignment Dealer is going to do a full detail on it.

I'm thinking around $7-8k with a little wiggle room but what do y'all think?
