Anyone who did this upgrade, was it a good or a bad decision.. what are your overal thoughts?

Decided to start cutting a track around a portion of my acreage that’s not being used for anything at the moment. Excited to have a little trail at my doorstep.

Is a lighter bike better for this kind of mud roads? This is common this time of year in Central America. I’m looking at either Yamaha XTZ-125 or 150 or a smaller YD-110 or a Honda XR150L. It is for a 16 year old to get to school. It will probably never see a paved road. I have high recommendations on the lighter weight Crux.

I want something for local roads and easy dirt. No highway, no serious trail riding.

That led me to this Hikeep MA-S I saw, but the more I look at it, the less sure I am. It seems fine for messing around on private land. Getting from my house to the dirt without worrying about plates or insurance is the part that ruins the idea.

Maybe I don’t actually need an e-moto. Maybe I need the cheapest boring plated dual sport I can find, has someone gone through this and end up getting the gas bike?

Figured I'd share what I've assembled for trailside emergencies thus far. This is a dual use kit for both my 2011 200 xc-w and my 2014 500 exc. OK I'm back, I made a previous post asking for some help a few days ago about my dr350 and yall were so helpful I'm back for more. This time specifically my carburetor problems.

OK as you can see I have a mikuni bst33. I pulled it all the way apart again today, cleaned it, put in a new rebuild kit and I am still having some issues. First of all my choke won't stay pulled out and I am pretty sure this black plastic collar (circled in white) is worn or broken, i have been unsuccessful in finding a replacement, any links or ideas anyone?

Seccond this hole, circled in red, pours out full as soon as the fuel tank pet cock is turned on. Is this supposed to be hooked up to a hose that I am missing on the bike?? Or is there something wrong with both brand new floats I have installed? Someone else mentions a fuel shutoff valve, I am not seeing anything like that.

Also both the main and pilot jets are unlabeled and pretty beat up as is the whole carb honestly, can I just order a jet kit on Amazon?

And last but not least, all of these issues have once again led me to the conclusion I should just replace the whole carb. But as far as I can tell the only option I have in that department is a tm33 carb and conversion kit that seems to have a minimum of $500 to complete. This was a $500 bike to begin with. I am not looking for top performance and I don't mind having to tune and fiddle with something, is there a cheaper whole unit replacement option that isn't something used and broken on ebay?? I have been pouring thru the old forums and reddit for hours looking for any other model of carb that is confirmed to fit this bike and all I find is guy's saying they got "some cheap chinese thing off aliexpress" to work but no information on what model or size.

Tl;Dr: should I replace this carb? If so, with what. If not, how do I fix these issues? Do I just give up and go buy a honda?

Almost feels dirty as an Austrian… Switched from 250 2 Stroke to 350 four stroke - for mainly single tracks. What a weapon!

After switching from a CRF 300 L rally to a husky FE501s, i’ve come to decide the maintenance intervals are not that important unless you are using the Bike as your main form of transportation.

I switched relatively quickly after picking up the used rally because my Mountain bike skills were translating well and I was overriding the suspension on the first ride out. I definitely prefer technical single track.

One thing I realized with both Bikes is just about every trip to proper trails involve some dropping of the bike and random things getting knocked loose or broken. This means I am working on the bike anyway anyways.

My first oil change took me less than 30 minutes in my first valve check took less than 45. This bike is clearly designed to be easy to work on. It seems like most users report having to change the valve specs one time and then it stays set.

Long story short I find I am working on my bike so often anyways, what difference does it make if I have to change the oil a little bit more often?

The husky is so much better on the trail and so much more fun. I’m happy to change the oil a little bit more often and with the kit they sell it’s super easy.

I am looking for a dual sport, and the 400cc suzuki drz bikes are pretty much exactly what I'm looking for. At my local dealer there is this beautiful drz400sm, white and black plastics with gold rims with only 7000 km on it. But my dad says no, I must get a bike with TC and ABS (btw, this is not my first bike; I have ridden dirtbike for a few years most of the time on the road too). He says he will help me pay the extra (double the price) for the drz4s which doesn't look nearly as good and, imo, aren't as comfy from sitting on them at the dealer. Is the new one really that much better to justify paying double for it, or should I try and convince my dad to let me get the old one, which will save both of us money for a bike I like more?

Riding from North Germany down through the Balkans in early September and I'll be going through Ljubljana on day 1 or 2 of the trip (either Tue Sept 8 or Wed Sept 9, still not 100% sure).

Want to get my tires swapped while I'm passing through - got my own tires, just need a shop to mount them. Anyone know a decent bike workshop around Ljubljana that could squeeze me in on short notice? Ideally someone who's dealt with touring riders before and won't mind a random German showing up with tires strapped to the bike lol.

I love mine and I love it’s a 2 stroke it’s great on the off-road and it just lets the good times roll lol.

I have the chance to buy either a decently built dr650(mainly suspension, bigger tank and protection) or a crf300 rally with some protection and comfort mods.

I’m going to use it for commuting, BDRs, camping, etc. I like to ride slightly aggressive and love jumping water bars. Hill climbs are rad too but so is cruising twisties and dirt/gravel roads.

I live minimum 1hr from any public off-road trails/FSRs. There’s an OHV 25 minutes away. I don’t mind right lane interstate at 65-70mph.

I love the maintenance intervals and fuel economy of the rally, but also love the power and grunt of the DR having owned one in the past.

I’m 6’ 190lbs.

Thoughts? Alternative ideas?

just picked this up from a local farmer in his 60s. hasn’t seen any maintenance since 2017 other than oil changes, air filters and tires as needed. everything needs adjusted / lubed. I’m very stoked coming from a drz400, previously xt250 and crf230L. 16k miles, started on the second kick. First time with a kickstart only bike
