Just picked up a ‘93 XR250L

just picked this up from a local farmer in his 60s. hasn’t seen any maintenance since 2017 other than oil changes, air filters and tires as needed. everything needs adjusted / lubed. I’m very stoked coming from a drz400, previously xt250 and crf230L. 16k miles, started on the second kick. First time with a kickstart only bike

Best dual sport bike l ever owned was 98
XR400 man l wish l still had that. IMO is was a perfect size and absolutely bulletproof. Kick start could be a bitch though at times.

I have a drz400s, but secretly lust after these gorgeous 250's. How do they compare?

I’ve only put about 5 miles on it but it seems equal in weight to my old crf230L which was fantastic but the engine is way smoother. Zero comparison on that. Maybe 285lb ish? Very light feeling. Drz was never fun off-road too top heavy

I’m also heavily considering getting a xr250l / dr350 or even making a street legal xr250r or xr400r. My drz is awesome but I really want to go retro.

I have a XR 400 I love it, it I have bad arthritis in my knee so I can’t kick start it. I have a crf300 , I think with the xr motor and gearing it would be the best bike.

I keep forgetting to post my bike on the market I am sure someone will buy a xr?

Well, I bought this one lol. There’s an ass for every seat.  The old farmer selling it  said he was surprised to have this much interest in it and had a few others lined up see it. Our area is rural Midwest, not many bikes like this come up and the 400 would definitely sell

For sure enjoy, that is a good size. Mine was a bit heavy on tight single track. Especially on side hills. I sold it impulsively and bought a big street bike.

Don’t ever sell it! I have an XR 400 and wish I never got rid of my 250. There’s a trick to kickstarting it. Learn it, know it, live it!
