Hi! I’m a transfer student starting at Western this year and I’ll be living in London Hall. I’m pretty nervous about coming in as a transfer student and not knowing many people, so I was wondering if there are any other transfer students or people living in London Hall who would want to connect!

Also, if anyone has any advice for Western as a transfer student, I’d really appreciate it!

I am trying to figure out logic after a course I took ended and have submitted evaluation of the Prof.

I understand the last course has to be stringent and challenging and encapsulates a culmination of learning from prior courses. We were asked to do a research project and it could be from 20-30 pages long. The other large project was to present all the stages of learning. In this presentation, we had to discuss a lot of points relating to how we made progress from peer input. When I got both grades, it was for both of these assignments. So I did not get a chance to figure out what was missing from the Professor alone. It felt very secretive, just review the rubric and read back 3 sentences. Does this make sense? In all the other courses, I had about 1-2 weeks to figure out if anything was missing in my research goals and report how I adjusted to this. I seriously can not figure out the purpose in me finding this all out when there is no way to take the next step and get a chance to make the necessary change. On the other hand, it relates to working as a professional and maybe everyone is tasked to reflect mostly alone to prepare for the working world.

I should also add that because I have an accomodation because of 2 medical issues, SOGS advised me to request a regrade for other specific reasons which make the Professor appear VERY strict and particular or borderline inconsiderate of student needs.

How do I complete the mandatory cyberstart training, when I sign in using my uwo email, the website says:

Hey everyone! I’m considering commuting from the GTA to London once a week for an in-person class and wanted to see if anyone has done something similar.

All of my other classes are online, so I’d only need to make the GTA London commute once a week during the semester, plus come to campus for any in-person midterms and final exams.

I’m also pre-med, so maintaining a high GPA is really important to me. My main concern is whether such a long commute once a week would become exhausting or take too much time away from studying.

Do you think this is realistically doable for a school year? Has anyone here commuted from the GTA to Western once a week, and if so, how manageable was it academically?

Hey guys, I’m going into my second year, and I’ve moved in to my new apartment. I don’t know when it’s supposed to get easier, but I’m still constantly sad about moving away. Maybe it’s the four month long summer break that I got used to being with my family, but I seriously miss my family and hometown friends so much. I also cry more thinking about how much rent is, groceries, having to cook, and getting the highest possible grades since my first year grades weren’t the best. It also doesn’t help that my university experience hasn’t been as good as I expected it to be. I really love western’s campus and the program that I’m in, I just don’t think I’m strong enough for the emotional and social aspects. Does anyone have any advice for dealing with these feelings? Thanks

I just found out I been approved for the social science 4 month coop. Basically I only see 25 job postings and they’re all not related to my major (poli sci). A bunch of accounting/marketing/economic positions. Does it get updated or what am I supposed to do now? Like should I do contact companies or such?

Hello! Im going into my senior year at high school and I'm looking at the commercial aviation management program to be a pilot. What advice would you give me? Is it a competitive program to get accepted into? What is it like? I have high 80s and low 90s in gr11 and I already have all the courses selected that are requirements for gr12! ANY tips/insight/advice appreciated!

For my polisci class there is a debate, with topic registration opening tomorrow at 8AM. The syllabus says to pick a topic go to announcements > groups and from there I can see a list of the available topics. If anyone has experience with this, do I just click on the option when it's open tomorrow AM? Kind of confusing as I have never had experience with this before, and I want to pick out the topic of my choice.

how likely is it that if i submit the form to two of my courses im taking that conflict (at one day of the week for lecture) to be accepted?

i have a course that runs MWF and another on friday which conflicts with the first course’s friday timing. but it should be mentioned that attendance for the 2nd course isn’t “mandatory” and you’ll receive or not receive 2% of your grade for attending.

Im not sure what career i want, i am actually trying to switch into engineering but need a formidable backup. I love learning about politics and leftist theory, such as how policy works into war and corruption. I would like to be a figure in my community that ends up helping people to some degree, which does not necessarily have to be career related. I am also passionate about physics/astrophysics but I have been advised against it due to it being a notoriously difficult major with bleak job prospects. How should i tackle this question and narrow down my options?

Hey! I’m going into med sci soon (this fall). I’m choosing between applied math 1201b with Bertram or math 1600 with ghorbanpour. The latter has a higher rating on rate my prof but I heard applied math is easier. Which would you pick (if you were someone who has taken one/ both of them)?

Can upper years participate in some oweek events? (Not as a soph) I couldn’t participate in most of the events, not even the concert, when I was in first year bc I had some personal stuff going on. Is there a way upper years can join too? Like can we buy oweek pass etc.?
