Dear members,
As moderators of this subreddit, we are committed to creating a safe and informative environment for everyone interested in keeping venomous snakes. However, we have recently observed a concerning trend: an increasing number of individuals with limited or no experience in venomous snake keeping providing advice to others. This can lead to misinformation and potentially dangerous situations for both the snakes and their keepers.
To maintain the integrity of our community and ensure that all advice shared is both accurate and responsible, we are implementing a new policy regarding the sharing of advice:
Experience Verification From this point forward, any member providing advice may be asked to disclose their experience level in venomous snake keeping. This may include how long they have been keeping venomous snakes, the species they have experience with, etc.
Zero Tolerance for Non-Compliance Members who fail to respond to inquiries about their experience level when giving advice will face permanent bans from this subreddit. This is a necessary step to protect our community and ensure that all interactions are based on informed and experienced perspectives.
We understand that many of our 28,000 subscribers may be eager to share their knowledge; however only a small fraction of our subscribers actually keep or have kept venomous, it is imperative that such exchanges are founded on a solid base of experience. We encourage those with experience/knowledge to continue contributing, but we must ensure that all advice is responsible and well-founded.
Thank you for your understanding and cooperation in this matter. Together, we can maintain a safe and knowledgeable community for all venomous snake enthusiasts.
Also, please read and understand all the rules before participating in this subreddit. Breaking any of our rules can lead to a permanent ban without any warning

Attention All Members: Zero Tolerance on Buying/Selling
This subreddit is not a platform for finding or purchasing venomous snakes or animals. Our rules explicitly prohibit any form of buying or selling, including ISO (In Search Of) posts.
We've noticed an increase in rule violations, whether due to oversight or disregard. Please remember that our rules are in place for the safety and integrity of our community. Moving forward, we will uphold a strict zero tolerance policy regarding these violations. This means that any posts or comments attempting to buy or sell animals—such as inquiries about availability, locations, or prices—will result in an immediate permanent ban without warning.
We appreciate your understanding and cooperation in keeping our subreddit a safe and informative space for all members. Thanks

I’ve recently gotten into loving more snake species more and more, and this is a dream snake of mine to own. of course, this is not something I’m going to own in the near future or anytime soon at all considering I’m a 15-year-old who just got her first ball python like less than two months ago and has other easy beginner reptiles lol.
Anyway, I’ve looked up a few things about a blue pit viper bite, but I keep getting different answers when I look it up so I’m not really sure. Is it fatal immediately or soon after? Is it something that’s life changing if not fatal? They’re such beautiful snakes and I think they’re the only venomous snake I’d want to own, although that’s probably gonna change in the next decade😭 I currently only own a bearded dragon, a Halloween moon crab, and my juvenile ball python Salem. Along with other animals that are not reptiles. So by no means am I gonna get this anytime soon I just want to know about the bite and it’s venom because for some reason I can’t find a direct answer anywhere.

Hello I'm an artist with a fascination with venomous animals and making art of them. I've drawn a King Cobra before, and am giving other snakes, like the Copperhead, a shot. But you want to know what I think would be a fun challenge? A spider. So I'd like to request a picture of a Black Widow (not picky about subspecies) from anyone who's OK with me trying to draw their spood.

What is the best state to live in for venomous keepers? I'm not talking about easiest or the place with the most lax laws regarding hots, but somewhere with a good community based around venomous snakes, and somewhere with good, trustworthy and respected mentors?

Hello, I am based in southern Michigan and would like to get experience with venomous snakes and find a mentor. I’m not(currently) looking at this with the intention to own hots myself, I’m not sure if my life will ever logistically allow me to, but I am extremely passionate about snakes; they have fascinated me ever since I first interacted with one as a child…so even if I never have the privilege of keeping these animals, the knowledge and experience alone would be well worth it to me.
I’d be happy to clean cages, sweep floors, and do anything else required of me as long as I get to learn!
PS: if this is weird way to look for a mentor, my bad, and I would be interested in correct way to go about it, or to at least be pointed in the right direction :)
