I had an amazing 4.000+ km roadtrip through Denmark, Norway and Sweden in my brand new EX30 Ultra SMER and loved every kilometer of it.

Until I came across this gorgeous P1800S Overdrive... Which one would you prefer to take on a roatrip?

I was about to post something about how in three years and 60,000 miles the only thing that went wrong with this car was a parking sensor that was replaced under warranty. Three days ago I put the car in my garage and plugged it in. This morning when my wife went to leave she couldn’t unlock the doors. I opened the app and it said that had lost connection 1-1/2 days ago. Researched how to unlock the driver’s door with the key hidden in the fob and called my dealer who talked me through how and where to connect a battery charger. Both the 12V and 48V batteries were completely drained. We were able to bring it back to life, but with warnings of a defective headlight module and then an SOS message to call for service. We could drive the 25 miles to the dealer where it is now for diagnostics. To be continued…..

Just sold this car for $1.00 to someone who really needed a car. It runs fine, has great air conditioning, but also a lot wrong with it. The air conditioning leaks into the cabin flooding the passenger side, it burns oil and eats at least 2 quarts every other week, the turn signal stick is broken and taped on, and a host of other little annoyances - like it loves to randomly lock all doors, so you better have a key fob on you.

But it drives great, is really comfortable and stays cool.

Added LED lighting to door speakers today. I like the subtle, warm white light of the stock interior high illumination but have always wanted just a little bit more.

The neon-esque strip lighting in so many other cars or with kits for this one does not appeal to me. I wanted something visible but not obtrusive, and in-line with the stock warm white light.

No kit existed so I bought some LEDs, created some wiring harnesses, and tapped the door handle light on each door. The lights even dim with the dimmer wheel on the dash, along with all of the other lights in the car.

Hello everyone. I really can use some help. I was beyond excited to get my first Volvo. I got an xc60 t8 ultimate package with a bunch of upgrades. I got the car used from a Nissan dealership. Car was good for about a week. Before I started to take notice of a few issues. The rear view camera kept failing many times. Once even paused and I thought a car was letting me go and I nearly hit him without noticing the camera froze. The GPS fails alot. The car on three occasions would nearly slam on breaks and come to a crawl with absolutely no accident in sight. It did this most recently on the highway and a vehicle almost hit me from behind. The emergency accident avoidance system went off every time. The car turned off on my when on the highway once. The breaks thank God worked and power steering. But audio and all infotainment went. As well as turning signals. It was terffiying. Had to pull over and turn the whole car off on a busy highway. Also audio keeps cutting out. Over 10 times in less then a month. All this being said. I am not here to complain but tryely ask for help without judgment. I love my Volvo... I tryely do. However the dealship we bought this car off of didn't mention there was 4 owners before 40k miles. We have opened up a case with Volvo already two times and have been to the Volvo shop 3 times. They are unable to find anything. We have had this car for 6 months. Is anyone else having these issues? If we have a lemon car, are other xc60 experiencing this? I want to know if I should invest in another Volvo. Thank you for the time everyone. I'm a bit scared to drive the car for now and it's been sitting for a few days now.

A day later and we have some new updates! I got my windows tinted with 5% in the rear and 35% in the front. I also used to Volvo app to buy the pilot assist package. The guy from my dealer said this was impossible with a core model, but he’s wrong! If you have a core and want pilot assist, don’t let the dealership guys fool you, you can get it through the app and they’ll send to your car if you have the right hardware. I think the only thing you need to have is the distance gauge on the left side of your steering wheel by the cruise controls. Took about 15 minutes to install and works like a charm! It registers the car in front of me and steers with the lanes. I’ll also put a video of my Amazon ambient lights! It’s the dream colors kit and I spliced them into existing power sources (window controls driver door, 12V center console, big red and black wires on passenger door below the window motor). They work great and give the car a more luxury feel.

('02, 2.4T) Not complaining about a free V70 needing some work, but the previous owner might have been mistaken on something with this one. I don't think it's a PCV leaking? That drip in pic 3 is old, not like the fresh stuff on the bottom of the oil pan, and engine's still pulling in air like it should. Could be oil cooler seals or drain plug/filter? Probably worth doing em all during the next oil change? Still monitoring to be sure of the leak location.

I keep curbing my wheels every few months when going through some narrow UK roads with curbs on both sides designed to keep heavy vehicles out ( the image is just for reference .. not the actual road.. actual roads are more narrower than this one)
I usually encounter them on new unfamilier roads and there is no way to avoid them.. I turn on my 360 camera as well and take my time to go over them but still manage to curb..
I am not a bad driver by any means.. and I take good care of my car but I am not able to avoid this situation.. thankfully I got alloys insurance when I got the car and every few months I manage to repair them but when the insurance runs out, I wont have that option
I am planning to install wider tyres .. current profile is 22inches 265mm and planning to widen it to 275mm
Is this feasible? Anyone tried to install wider tyres on their XC60? Is there any other better solution to avoid curb damage?

It's time to move on from my P1 2010 S40, the 2.4i variant.

To be honest this would never be a car I would look for myself. My aunt offered it to me and I considered it because I knew she would take it to Volvo for everything and never scratch off a line item. So I made the decision to sell my more maintenance and repair needy bmw e39 for this car. Surprisingly, I never regretted that decision.

It was extraordinarily maintained and showed for it. I drove it for 6 years without one breakdown. It certainly had its nuance. Jobs that were typically straightforward were a bit more complicated on this girl. But overall I grew to really appreciate this car. Wouldn't say I loved driving it necessarily but at the same time I grew to respect and appreciate how reliable she was. The braking system was top notch and she saved me a few times on how well she could brake. Once I had my entire family in the car and I KNOW in another older car we would have gotten in an accident.

But she's moving on. My brother needs a reliable daily so I just did a lot of maintenance and repairs and I'm moving on.

We have a SPA xc90 for our family car. I love the look of the SPA V60 but Im not sure i can trust the reliability yet.

I'm looking for a p3 v60 t6 but those are few and far between. There are more p3 xc60 in the US because SUV. Otherwise the s40 or v50 could drag me back into the p1 platform. Also considering a wide array of p2 but this generation is honestly confusing. At the end of the day I think I want mostly a reliable daily.

Frankly Volvo got so complicated with all the available drivetrains for their platforms so I'm interested to hear of what have been good or bad for you (or not bad just a bad fit).

It doesn't have to be a fun daily driver though that's a plus. What I appreciated most about my s40 was that she was dependable and safe.

Has the Volvo reputation been maintained in the new build and ride quality of the new Volvo EV range?

I have a 2021 S60 and it’s time for new tires. I know this question has been asked a ton on this subreddit but I want fresh perspectives.

I really like the stock p zeros because they look sporty, handle well, are quiet, low profile, and are smooth with good fuel economy. I live in a very hot very dry climate.

I don’t like that it looks like someone chiseled off chunks of the tire tread. (How does this even happen??)

Can anyone weigh in? Pic for attention.

Here's the story in short:

I live in Málaga, Spain and I have bought used XC40 T5 Recharge from 2021 from an official Volvo reseller in Toledo in July last year.
Everything was fine, car was running well.
All of a sudden, this June, not even a full year later, (but also a month after a yearly checkup in local Volvo dealership), car just couldn't start (turtle symbol).

I've had it towed to the same dealership here locally, for an inspection just to get bad news - car needs to have two parts changed: one is some transformator for the current and the second one is something about the ignition... To make things worse, I need to wait for the parts since they do not have them in all of Spain and need to import them?!
And then the REAL AGONY starts.
Two months later, I am STILL waiting for the parts to arrive! Volvo customer care sent me an email, offering me a substitution car until my gets fixed, that was a month ago. Yesterday, after my email to check on status, they told me that they cannot give me the exact date when my car will be fixed, stating:

"There is no additional incident, unfortunately all the delay is due to this piece which still has no expected arrival.

It is an incidence produced by production chains and suppliers of the material. As soon as we get news, we will let you know."
And they have extended the substitute rent a car for another month!

Is this normal? Is there anything I can do? Ask for a new car, since my broke inside of the warranty period? Or refund?
What to do, where to write, who to call? 😣

We are looking for a Volvo for our son. Live in New England. I have never owned a Volvo so have no reference myself. We want something that has good safety record, cameras and other precautionary equipment. We love the looks of the V60's, seems like the way to go. He skiis a lot and it would be great to have something that fits gear in the back .

It has been a long time since I bought Ia used auto, wondering what guidelines I should use for determining the mechanical and electronic condition.

I’m considering a XC 90 with the white interior, and I wanted to see what everyone’s experience was with the durability of that color. I keep my cars for a long time and I’ve never had a white interior before…

I've changed the fuse. I've checked the Valet lock on the glove box, it's unlocked. Dash button, Key FOB button and door latch all don't work. Cleaned the latch. Cleaned the connections. STILL NO SUCCESS. Any ideas? How can I check the latch to see if it's defective? Thanks in advance

Hi all, I am considering purchase of a used V60 estate (in the UK). Current car is a 2013-plate W204 Mercedes 220CDi with 70,000 miles on the clock. Main reason I am replacing is because the Mercedes is not ULEZ compliant. It has been mechanically very sound apart from a hole in an air intake leaving us stranded on holiday last year (but it was an easy and fairly cheap fix). But I am also thinking 70,000 miles is probably about the time when other stuff is going to go wrong and there is still a small amount of residual value in the car as part exchange or to WeBuyAnyCar or similar.

So to get to the point, what is the maximum mileage I should consider on a used V60? 30k? 40k? More? Less?

Spent the weekend replacing my lower control arms, sway bar links, inner and outer tie rods and struts. Complete overhaul EXCEPT for ball joints... Full disclosure - I used aftermarket parts.

Everything came back together great - BUT when i dropped it back on the ground i noticed the tires were both leaning inward at the top (negative camber/both sides). Since i needed to get an alignment with the suspension work anyway i took it in. Problem starts here..

Tech told me that they had no problem with the rear alignment. On the front, they adjusted the toe (no issue) - but told me that they cannot adjust the camber either way - so something is definitely wrong with the job i did..

If you're familiar with these - the hub only connects to the control arm at the bottom (via the ball joint) and the strut at the top. With that, there is no camber adjustment aside from a small amount of play where the hub bolts to the strut. This play is NOT enough to adjust the wildly-off negative camber.

Since there are only two points of contact i started at the top and replaced the struts with the OEM parts. No change so i put the new ones back on..

Tonight i plan to investigate the control arms. I have read that the ball joint may not be seated properly - and alternatively - that it might be because i tightened the control arms while it was lifted causing the bushings and ball joint to be misaligned (?). I'm not sure how either of those would apply as there is only one way to bolt the ball joint in and i feel like putting the cars weight on the control arm would be bad without the bolts being tightened.. but i suppose it's worth a try.. Is there anything else i should look in to?

In the end i wondered if slotting the struts would be an option in order to pull the hub out further - but that seems potentially dangerous?

I'm at a loss right now and need to get this car running again.. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

NOTE: I got camber bolts and they did nothing.

Has anyone in the USA had success negotiating on a used Volvo at a Volvo dealership? I have contacted a few and they refuse to move on their listed price. It's not like I'm asking for thousands off the vehicle, but one dealership wouldn't even move on $500, for an OTD price. Any success stories and or tips?

I was just involved in a t-bone accident and my amazing 2012 XC60 did its job and let me walk away with just bruises and a couple cuts. The cars airbags deployed so it's totalled. As much as I'd want to stick with a Volvo...I don't think I can due to maintenance costs. I really want another one, but I don't think now is a good time for me to get one. Does anyone have any recommendations that have similar safety ratings to Volvo but also have cheaper maintenance costs?
