Troubleshooting FAHHH

20 minute job right šŸ˜‚ torque wrench lied to me, first one clicked, second one snap😢 waiting for extractor set. I even second guessed myself and still kept going anyways. Feel super dumb

Don’t feel too bad. Plenty of people have have snapped those studs even being careful with a torque wrench.

At least you didn’t snap a head bolt inside the engine block. Now that is a bummer lol. Don’t ask how I know.

Torque wrench is for inside engine and wheel nuts. Everything outside is by hand, if m6 or m8, 1/4inch ratchet and if m10/12 it's 3/8ths. Snugged and a little extra is all anything ever needs. Torque wrenches are too long and you focus too much on a number/click.

As I like to say
I have a calibrated ā€œelbowā€

I use a torque wrench for 1/2 drive stuff
I have an old skool ā€œbeam / needleā€ one for um, when I need it

But yeah - M6, M8
ā€œSnugā€

Also

I chase EVERY hole and bolt and blow it out….

Sometimes hit the top surface of a threaded hole with a cone / stone and check with a flat edge…

Might be a good idea to get a small torque wrench that does inch pounds, or lower Newtown meters. You can find them advertised for bicycles, but a torque wrench is a torque wrench (as long as it's calibrated and from a reputable brand).

Nice turbo inlet. I was thinking of getting one of these but the price was a bit much for me so I went with a GS.
