I know current rules don't allow for Disintigrators pistols, but I only play at home with my wife since HH1.0, so we don't care about 3.0.

Also, those guns look cool af, and fit the First Legion.

Finally! I think this list is more or less playable!

At the very least, it's actually table ready.

Never been much of a kitbasher, but having really enjoyed the production line of building legionaries I decided to push the boast out with this guy for my Sons of Horus

Discussion Blackshield Mercenaries

Post image
122 Upvotes

I have an idea of doing an army for zone mortalis, using the oath "alone and forgotten" and I'm not sure what other, to represent some marines that have just become straight grimey mercenary assholes. like a group of independent dudes working together, like each guy different colours, teamed up together for whatever bounty or to raid some resources

was thinking of having a delagatus so I can have a couple more specialized consul guys

using arms from black templar neophytes, scouts, wolf scouts, berzerkers and red corsairs; the ones with either no armor or just cloth, or armor with gloves

my one concern about those arms is that they have the primaris marks of weapons mostly, is there a heresy correct mark I could convert them to fairly easily?

I also like the idea of using shotguns, are they bad? I don't care about being competitive, but I don't want to lose all the time hahaha

what would ya'll recommend?

I did my own paint scheme keeping the main colors of Legio Krytos. I hope you like them. Eventually I'll make a Reaver but there's just many other projects :)

I like how this guy looks, but alot of optae I see here are closer to a normal sergeant. Just checking if this model reads well.

This is my vigilator Kit Bash, and also my first time sculpting and that took the longest as expected, but I’m fairly happy with how the cloak came out. I do have to put a bit more green stuff on there cause I gotta fill in those spaces on the Centurion shoulders overall very happy how this came out.

Kits used-
Mark Iv body arms legs and head
Centurion shoulders
Barrel from scout marines Kill Team
Scope from Mark III gun
Antenna and scanner thing from infiltrator

Picture Circe Super-Heavy Assault Tank

As the great crusade wound its way farther and farther from Terra, mankind encountered numerous enemies of foul form and fouler function. Recalcitrant human regimes, abominable cybernetic intelligences and of course the uncounted hordes of xenos empires sullied the stars with their ill presence, all standing in opposition before the Emperor and his Legions. And as the wars with these enemies intensified, His armies called for weapons of greater and greater potency, weapons that could scour the galaxy clean of the enemies of the Imperium.

And one such weapon that specialised in this scouring in a very real and visceral form was the Ascalon Super-Heavy Assault tank. Based on the venerable Falchion chassis, the Ascalon swaps the monstrous Neutron Wave Battery and attached power systems for a mighty Inferno Cannon, a weapon normally reserved for use by the Collegia Titanica. Capable of bathing whole armies in purifying flame, the Ascalon was burning arrow head launched into the heart of enemy formations, spreading panic and disorder before it.

And whilst many Legions such as the IXth and XVIIIth would utilise the Ascalon in great numbers, it found a dark and terrible prominence in the XIVth Legion Death Guard. Mortarion, ever keen to employ the foulest of alchemical and radiological weapons in his campaigns bade the magi of Sarum and Xana to make the venerable machine even more formidable. What was born of these dark minds was the Circe-Pattern Ascalon, a super-heavy assault tank that exchanged the purifying flames of its forebear with a dreaded Alchem Annihilator, a weapon of terrifying potency that promised the most painful and lingering of deaths. And when the Death Lord sided with his brother Horus against their Father, the Circe-Pattern was loosed upon the Imperium, spreading baneful and creeping death on all it encountered.

Thank you everyone who helped me decide on the scheme yesterday. I really like doing this. I think next time I’ll add a bit more purple and probably find a better way to do the white. There’s so much masking but yeah here it is.

Threw this together yesterday. Mostly I'm unsure how to represent the Ætheric Juncture Splicer besides the icon. Perhaps just bulk it up with more techo bits so it seems more techy rather than bannery?

Question/Query Combi weapon uses.

With the advent of the plastic Combi weapon bits being available I’m sitting on some boxes purchased for loading out my headhunters. However I’m sitting here wondering what other uses people are putting them to. I’m not particularly concerned with creating the most cracked units however I also don’t want to unintentionally create a dumpster tier unit. I haven’t seen much discussion on their use. I was about to build some vets with Volkite chargers and now I’m considering giving them Combi Volkites.

How are people finding them?

Discussion Solar Auxilia should use area-shield generators

Void shield generators. Atomantic pavises. Flare shield projectors. Ion palisades. Whatever the specifics, the Solar Auxilia should make reasonably widespread use of portable shield projection systems.

The Solar Auxilia are a (comparatively) lightly armoured force who descend onto planets en-masse to create and expand fortified landing zones, and fight in advancing close-order infantry blocks, with "aggressive defence" being a preferred tactical approach.

Mobile (but sluggish, vulnerable, and unreliable) area-of-effect shield projectors would not only be a great tactical addition, they'd be perfectly in-theme for how they operate.

Imagine something like an oversized Rapier platform fitted with a bulky cluster of flare shields instead of a gun or seat. Two void-suited technicians are tending to its reactor and adjusting its field output, with a tercio vexilla fluttering atop its chassis. It rumbles steadily forward between the sections of its tercio, projecting a defensive aura that's even more effective against dispersed blasts that would otherwise wipe out whole sections. If it remains stationary, the technicians can strengthen its output further, or focus its energies toward a specific direction for a more efficient shield effect.

I appreciate that the Legiones Astartes get all the shiny toys, but they have so much less doctrinal need for mobile shield-bubble projectors that it's kind of baffling they get so many of them compared to the Auxilia. The old Deredeo atomantic pavise, the Legions Imperialis Palisade Drop Pods, the Araknae's own atomantic pavise, etc; give some similar tools to the Solar Auxilia and it'd do amazing work.
