Opinion Fun types...

What type of wt activity matches each fun type?

Type 1 Fun: Fun while it is happening and fun to remember. It requires no effort or suffering. Examples include eating ice cream.

Type 2 Fun: Miserable while it is happening, but fun in retrospect. It involves challenge, discomfort, or effort, but yields a deep sense of accomplishment. Examples include running a marathon, backpacking in the rain, or completing a grueling hike.

Type 3 Fun: Not fun while it is happening, not fun in retrospect, and you never want to do it again. However, it usually makes for an excellent story later on. Examples include getting caught in a dangerous storm, getting lost, or a failed expedition.

Type 0 Fun (Slang): An activity that is fun in the moment but proves to be a poor idea in hindsight

For me - type 2... trying to notch multiple inbound / getting af camped.

Type 3 - all the comedy bugs.. most recently falling through the bastard carriers

Type 0 - killing someone who then quits the lobby, and you check their stats and they were clearly trying sim for the 1st time ... :(

Haha! xD

I have 180+ DAYS in fighters, and 11 minutes in bombers...

You recommend I give them a go?

That being said, if you do enjoy the carnage and can stand being on the receiving, end of it for a change... it can be quite a spectacle!

Type 1: Flying a Sea Fury / G.56 at 6.7

Type 2: Rocket runs in a Firefly against shipping.

Type 3: Swordfish torpedo runs.

I'll throw in another Type 3 fun: The Martin Mariner PBM-5A. It has no way to predict lead on boats. But the radar is so cool.

Shackleton, they went to all the effort of modeling the radar extending and retracting ... And then didn't give it a radar 😭

CLASSIC gaijoob. Do 80% of the work... And then stop. For 10 years.

Say... Where are my bomber cockpits, Dr. Placeholder?

Type 1 Fun: Performing the mission role of an exceptional but non-fighter plane. In my instance, sneaking around near the deck in an A-4, busting up convoys! I love a good airstrike!

Type 2 fun: Flying soviet-era fighters, especially against more skilled opponents flying western aircraft. Taking a Mig-21 against F-4's feels surprisingly realistic for me, in that I try really hard, manage to make the maneuvering fight last for a while, but inevitably get brutalised. The occasional kill makes for a sick story about pushing the airframe as far as it can go!

Type 3 fun: Flying Western fighters in a fashion according to their historical intention - for me, I especially love Naval Aircraft. Problem is they're often bigger, and heavier than their ground-based counterparts. Matched against enemies of equal BR, they often get outmaneuvered. F9F My beloved, why must you treat me so? ;_;

Type 1 Fun: Every clean sortie where I at least partially or fully complete objective(s) and return to land by evading the enemy via smart placement or timing.

Type 2 Fun: Flying either a strat bomber of some sorts, or a stall-prone fighter, in a prolonged dogfight. Getting increasingly mad by either missing shots, being defenseless, making geometry mistakes and fighting the wingstalls because of monkeypulling, but still somehow coming out on top. If not coming out of top it is demoralising because of the buildup. Somehow Lancaster and Spitfire are prime examples from the same place of origin.

Type 3 Fun: Almost hitting the ground in a low dogfight dive with controls or G locking. Or both. Or having a Mig23 on the tail of an F111 and spreading wings, becoming a kite to force an overshoot. Hail Mary moments.

Type 0 Fun: Tail chasing a high alt fast bomber, doing river/canyon runs as if someone will be amazed, high risk and absolutely no reward.

River / canyon runs absolutely count at type 1 for me 😁

I only do it if there is absolute need, and only for the minimum required amount of time, to break sight or something. It is tempting, but common sense prevails. Also last time i did it because two others in voice chat were doing it ended in me hitting a bridge with the not so cheap Lfmk9 before even doing anything else game related. Devastated.
