So the little knob highlighted in red always interferes with my camera when trying to tighten. Is there something I can put on a tripod plate to place it above the knob so I can tighten it fully? What’s the name of it. Every time I go on Amazon and search tripod plate riser or something it gives me something else. What’s the attachment called? Thanks!

I want to upgrade my GPU coming from an old RX580 and im wondering what everyone is using right considering that prices have exploded dramatically in the video card area. I read a lot of opinions about how VRAM is important, but I'm coming from a board that had 4GB so I think anything is a major upgrade. What do you guys use and what do you recommend within a decent budget. I use a lot of color grading and with certain plugins Premier Pro stutters decisively. I'm also interested in the final 4K rendering because for a 5-minute film I sometimes I wait now even 30 minutes to export it with effects.

I totally understand why couples love getting 10-20 wedding photos the next day. It is awesome.
But a 1 minute video sneak peek is a completely different beast.

Photographer: pick some nice photos, edit, export, done.

Videographer: watch hours of footage, find the right moments, build a sequence, choose music, edit to the music, colour grade, audio, export, watch the export because something will inevitably be wrong, export again, upload 😂

I genuinely think a 1 minute video sneak peek can take 10-20x the time and effort of a photo sneak peek.

So when couples say, “But our photographer had photos ready the next morning, why can’t we have a video?”
I get it. But that 60 second video is basically asking us to make a tiny film immediately after shooting a 10-12 hour wedding.

And yes, some videographers can absolutely do it. But I do not think it should become the expectation.
Give me a few days and I will make you something actually good rather than throwing together 60 seconds of random pretty shots at 2am 😂

This is just me asking any videographers who edits or video editors (preferably remote editors) how do they get started in this line of business and how to get into it? I am a fresh graduate (communication arts) exploring my options and career paths that aligns with my interests or goals, I thought about video editing for weddings would be something that could be for me.

Hi! I am new to filming weddings digitally. ( I normally do super 8/camcorder). I have been using auto for my settings and It looks HORRIBLE and changes while recording. If I shoot 24 frames and it's noon/afternoon. What should my manual settings be if I shoot at around 1.8/2.8 apertures/iso at 250ish and will it show in my preview on what the shutter speed movement does??

Hi! My husband and I got married this past May in California, and I’m looking for an East Coast videographer for a slightly unconventional anniversary session next April/May.
Our wedding day was amazing, but it was also incredibly hectic (+unfortunate family drama and priest going off script) and there was so much happening that I came away wishing we had gotten more video that really captured \*us:\* our personalities, our vows, and the little interactions between us. For our one-year anniversary, we’d love to put our wedding dress/suit back on one last time before packing them away and spend about \*\*2–3 hours\*\* for a bridal portraits and renewing vows. I’m still deciding on a location somewhere on the East Coast, but I’m picturing somewhere romantic/scenic where we can get a good amount of variety.

I love the new trendy wedding videos that have a Wes Anderson or old school romantic vibe!

Video: would ideally like a 2-3 min highlight reel, 5-10 min reel, and a full video of vows, personality, redo of first dance, etc. (I don’t expect this to be a full wedding style video as we are not having a full wedding)
Location: NY or neighboring states (Possibly Windrift Hall, Fern Hall Estate, etc.)
When: possibly fall (before winter snow) or next year spring
Budget: preferably <$2000, but can go up if videographer has the exact vibe I’m looking for in their portfolio

I have a wedding shoot coming up, and it'll be my first ever wedding videography job, so safe to say I'm pretty nervous. But I'm compensating by over-preparing for the shoot. And one of the biggest concerns I have is if I should film the entire wedding at 4K 60FPS or 4K 24FPS?

I recently watched a beginner's guide to wedding videography by a YouTuber named "Jono and Jason". And he recommends to shoot in 50fps during the entire wedding so that you'll have more flexibility in post. Do you guys think this is solid advice? I do hate it when I have to switch from 24fps to 60fps when I see a moment where it would look better in slow motion. And even though all I have to do is turn the camera mode dial to my custom preset, it does take a couple seconds for the camera to switch. So I'm concerned that I'll be missing crucial moments within those few seconds.

So I guess what I'm asking is that, if turning a 60fps footage to 24fps in post is worth doing? Will it mess up the footage somehow? For those who do this, what's your workflow look like in post?

Building out an S1ii rig (side handle, top handle, matte box, Vmount) and then have an S9 as a smaller nimble b cam with minimal gear attached.

Previously shot with just Sony A7s and a lens, often gimbles but they're so cumbersome I just cant do it anymore. Hence, the handheld + lumix new route!

Solo shooter looking for critique on a recent wedding film.

I feel that it's voice-heavy and starts to drone somewhere in the middle.

1. At what timestamp did your attention drop? Is it a pacing issue or to much audio?

**On the grade:** shot on [FX3/Slog3] graded in [Davinci].

1. Do skin tones hold up across the swing from harsh outdoor sun to the indoor reception, or does it break somewhere?
   
2. Are colors to pushed anywhere?

Context: the day ran very fast, it was 104 degrees, and the wedding was entirely in Spanish. I'm not fluent, which has made trimming the speech harder than usual.

Genuinely here to get better. Rip it apart 😫

I've been doing wedding videography on a part time basis for several years now. Marketing has primarily consisted of sharing my wedding highlight films (3 to 5 mins each) after every project has been delivered.

I've built up a bit of a backlog of highlights that still need shared but I want to get a more structured marketing strategy in place.

Hi guys, I had my wedding earlier this year. My friend is mutual with a videographer who has an agency, but is expanding into shooting weddings.

He agreed to shoot my wedding so he could build a portfolio. Because there was no payment (besides paying for his stay), there was no contract and the communication wasn't necessarily the best, so I didn't know exactly what I was getting.

The film came out good, It was not something you'd be "blown away" by. However, it definitely passed as comparable to other established wedding agencies we looked at so he did a good job.

Anyways, at first, he seemed to be ok with sending the RAW video, but then ghosted my follow ups. Any idea on why he might have done this? Do videographers not like giving up RAW?

When you're editing wedding videos, do you go for stock music or licensed music? Is there a context in which you'd choose one over the other?

I know every videographer has their own way of working. Some prefer to stay involved in the creative decisions and just have someone take care of the technical side — syncing cameras and audio, culling, timeline setup, color, etc. Others would rather hand over the whole post-production process and just review the finished highlight. I can assist in both situations.

Hi, all! My fiancé and I are getting married in September. We weren't going to do a wedding video as we really invested with our photographer BUT, after research, were convinced to get a videographer as it is one of the top wedding regrets that people miss having.

I posted to my local wedding group asking for a professional who would be comfortable giving us the raw footage with syncing audio (with whatever format they are experienced in). We have two bids:

Videographer 1: $2,000 for 7 hours of non-stop shooting in Slog 3. He usually edits with packages starting at $500/hour. His edited work looks great from what he has shared but this will be different work than what he usually delivers.

Videographer 2: $1,505 for 7 hours for 100 to 150 GBS of raw film footage. She is a wedding photographer just starting her videography at a usual package rate of $350/hour.

Any feedback you can give super appreciated!

I use it for searching across my unplugged harddrives and finding files on them - without having to plug ten drives in to find that one clip. Can also compare backups, see duplicates, share libraries with other people etc.

I’m curious how other wedding filmmakers handle editing once the number of weddings starts piling up.
At first, we enjoyed doing everything ourselves . It helped us develop my style and keep full control over the final film. But lately I’ve been wondering whether outsourcing some or all of the editing actually makes more sense.
A few things I’m thinking about:
● Time: Editing one wedding can easily take many hours. Outsourcing could free up time for shooting, sales, and actually having a life.
● Quality: Does outsourcing usually hurt the final product, or can you get an editor who matches your style closely?
● Cost: At what point does paying an editor make financial sense compared with doing it yourself?
● Communication: How difficult is it to explain your editing style, music preferences, pacing, color, etc.?
● Client experience: Have clients ever noticed or complained that someone else edited their film?
● Scaling: For filmmakers doing 20–50+ weddings a year, is outsourcing basically necessary?
I’d especially like to hear from filmmakers who actually outsource their wedding editing.
Was it one of the best decisions you made, or did you eventually go back to editing everything yourself?
Also curious what you outsource first main videos , grading , reels, trailers , or everything.

Hey all!
I use a canon r6 mark ii on a ronin rs4 gimbal with a 24-70 mm lens. I’ve been doing wedding videos for about 4 years and luckily haven’t had to deal with rain. I booked an elopement in Telluride and the forecast says it’s supposed to rain. I know I can’t use the gimbal as it’s not water proof or resistant. I guess my question is how should I approach filming this? The getting ready portion is inside a beautiful bnb but the rest will be outside. Should I embrace the shaking handheld footage aesthetic? It’s out of my comfort zone so if you have any tips that’d be amazing. I’m kind of excited because I think I can get really cool footage with the rain but a little nervous about it. Thanks in advance!
