Anyone got experience with these? Found them for a good price and not a fan of thick leather gloves for stick welding. Really ache my had muscles

I wear the tig gloves every day for mig and tig. Big fan of those gloves. Don’t do much stick, but I carbon arc enough that I think those pigskins would be better than the randors we have at work.

These are the Nike's of the welding gloves. They look sick and slick, and as a new welder you think you gotta have them, but like anything else esthetically pleasing they are expensive as hell.

Then you realize that they were made in Bangladesh, the stitching fuckin' sucks and they dont last 3 weeks before they turn rock hard and function better as a hammer.

Try deerskin. Love it for mig and the tiny bit of tig i do. Thinner but gets blown apart if stick welding.

I use these for stick. They hold up decent without being crazy bulky. I always use the standard leathers from the supply house. For tig I use good gloves but for stick and mig whatever heavy leathers they have at the weld shop

I'm with you on that one. I do only MIG and Stick, but I always go for the big leather oven mitts. Yes, I have to remove one glove for dexterity operations, but I am so much more comfortable while welding and especially grinding.

I have the MIG gloves, they fell apart within 20 hours of use. I wouldn’t recommend them to the worst of my enemies.

I’m a boilermaker/welder, so I often have to switch between tig, stick, and wire welding, and I don’t like carrying multiple pairs of gloves around the boiler (and losing them in the boiler) if I can help it. I started buying these Caimans this year, I really dig em. They’re thick enough in the right places to tolerate the heat of stick/flux core, but have enough flexibility in the fingers to also use tig welding tube and pipe. I wish they were a little more durable, but then again I abuse the hell out of them, so they hold up as well as any pair of gloves save for straight up oven mitts. slick mans i can say are worth the hype, make them last by not using them as work gloves. strictly to weld. i pipe weld so i also dont get too dirty either but yeah they fit super nice

I had the TIG gloves once, absolutely nothing special. Watson Fabulous Fabricators and they make one with an extra layer of leather on the left glove too. I refuse to wear those thick ass oven mitts. If your gloves are too thick you end up gripping the stinger, torch or gun too tight because you can’t feel it. Then your hands start aching. Too hot with thin gloves? Slip a backing pad on your left hand if you’re right handed. The pad will protect your hand from the heat and you don’t have to have a death grip on whatever you’re welding with.

Watson used to be some of the best gloves on the market, until some genius in marketing started putting the focus on names and aesthetics. Still quality, but way lower than what they were 25 years ago.

100%. A few simple models are still decent but yeah, most of the new ones definitely aren’t like the ones from when I first started. Hell, even Mechanix Gloves seem like they’re a shadow of what they used to be. They made some really good ones for a while but they discontinued them, I swear they stopped because they weren’t being replaced as often.

I use the Tegera 132A, we get them at work for Mig/Mag. I love them. Even use them when welding thick material with Tig

If you can find them, Gander Brand/BDG 1525s are the best all around gloves I've used. If you can't get those, get Tillmans. Or use whatever your shop is willing to pay for. Buying your own consumables is some bullshit.

Neither of those. Miller gloves are shite.

You want Tilmans, or Watson's.

Also for stick welding, shit just wear cotton gloves. That's all I did for years. Only time I put on a mitt was for doing vert up and overhead 316.

If you don't want cottons. Tillman's are great. Watson's are great. Black Stallions are even decent.

Looks don't matter with welding gloves with the way they get dirty and abused. Just go for all the good durable recommendations here.
