Question To Karen or not to Karen?

I’ve never called bylaw on anyone or felt the need to but there’s been a few situations in my neighbourhood and I’m feeling it might be necessary.

I don’t have a set route that I walk my dog. For the most part I walk the same sidewalks but occasionally I turn down other streets to avoid people. My dog is friendly with other people and dogs but is very excitable and I just don’t want to deal with the encounters at times.

I live in one of the “new build” areas in Welland. There is one house in particular that does not leash their animals. They hang out on their front porch and there has been three separate incidents where I walk by and get charged by their animals. They have 2 or three dogs, last incident I was charged by two dogs but previous there has been three. The most recent time I walked down this street I did not see them as cars were obstructing my view of their home and quite frankly I forgot about the problem.

These people have no control over the animals, ZERO recall, the animals have surrounded me each time and appear aggressive. They haven’t bit my dog but it’s not something I want to stay and find out if it’ll happen. I normally pull my dog away because of their lack of control.

So Reddit. Am I justified to call and report them? There is absolutely no one that I’ve encountered in my neighbourhood who does this, whether it be on their own property or on walks. All dogs are always leashed. I shouldn’t have to avoid this area because of their lack of consideration to other dog walkers. I also fear the dogs may harm other animals or potentially people with the behaviour I’ve seen.

The road is still closed. It will eat your car (this one lost its front bumper when the driver decided to yolo). Even when you move the cones. The road is still closed.

Did they get raided out again? Last time there was a QR code for ordering while they were closed, this time there seems to be a printed paper with the OPP logo on it in the windows.

News 🎭 AUDITIONS — DRY STREAK — THOROLD THEATRE AUDITIONS 📅 Wednesday, August 26 — 7:00 PM

Post image
1 Upvotes

Thorold Theatre is casting 7 actors for its fall production of Dry Streak, a wildly funny Canadian comedy by Saskatchewan playwright Leeann Minogue, directed by Wendy Cullen-Mackie.

Production: Mid-November

Set during the scorching summer of 1988, Dry Streak takes audiences into the heart of a small prairie farming community where the rain has stopped, the crops are failing, and everyone has an opinion.

The Richards family has worked the same farm for generations. When son John returns home with his new girlfriend Kate, the family discovers that she is unlike anyone the town has encountered before: a punk-rock-loving, vegetarian city girl who has no particular interest in getting married.

Then, desperate for rain, Kate makes a reckless promise.

What follows is a comic collision of family expectations, small-town gossip, generational differences, personal belief and the increasingly uncomfortable realization that sometimes a private promise can become very, very public.

Dry Streak is a sharp, affectionate comedy about family, faith, farming and the pressures of small-town life — and what happens when everyone knows your business.

AUDITIONS

📅 Wednesday, August 26 — 7:00 PM
📍 Thorold 50+ Senior's Centre, 8 Carleton Street Thorold

Auditioners are asked to prepare a 3–5 minute monologue of their choice. It doesn't have to be from the play. A prepared monologue is encouraged, but not required.

You'll also be asked to tell a joke or funny story. We're looking for comic timing, personality and the ability to connect with an audience.

Callbacks: Sunday, August 30 — 7:00 PM

We're also looking for an Apprentice Director

Hes been out all night twice before, but he came back in the morning. I was going to take him to the vet today but he is missing.

Question Starting a event.

Good morning everyone, I need some advice, I've been thinking about starting up a cycling event where you ride from Lock 1 to Lock 8. I have been looking around the Ontario cycling website and the city of welland website and I've found some information on how to get started but if anyone has any tips or tricks it would be greatly appreciated.

Question Internet Providers

Anyone live on any of the side streets between Lincoln and East Main? Any of the ones between Crowland and Wellington?

We are moving from North Welland and are with Cogeco, when I went to select moving it said it’s not available at my address. It suggested Oxio which initially accepted my address but when I just went to sign up it says not available at that location. So far Bell, Rogers, Cogeco and Oxio are a no go. I didn’t think in 2026 I would struggle to find internet when I’m not in a rural area.

If you’re in those areas who do you use? I think TekSavvy is available has anyone had luck with them?

Question Meeting new Folks

Hello, my partner and I recently moved to Welland and we’re finally settled in. Looking for a good way to meet new friends. I’m working remote for the same company I’ve been with for nearly 5 years, so networking that way is a no go. Both of us M and Ages 31/34.

Both of us are gamers, we gym regularly but we don’t like sports 😂.

Any tips greatly appreciated!

P.S we did go to the trivia night at the hub last Tuesday and we’ll likely be attending again moving forward.

Question Looking for a casual gym/walking accountability partner (Low-pressure, 40s M)

Hey everyone, I’m a guy in my 40s living in Welland, looking to jump-start a more consistent fitness routine, and I’m hoping to find an accountability partner to help me stay on track.

I’m looking to focus on low-impact activities—mainly neighbourhood walks, light hiking, and joining a gym when it's colder and going at the same time to ensure we both actually show up.

The ideal setup:

  • No pressure to match fitness levels: We don’t need to do the exact same workout, lift the same weights, or walk at the same pace. The goal is simply shared commitment.
  • Flexible schedule: Looking for a couple of days a week.
  • Casual environment: If we are at the gym, we can just do our own thing, but check in at the start and end. If we walk, we can chat or just listen to our own podcasts/music.

Whether you’re also trying to get back into a routine, looking to get your daily steps in, or just want someone to make sure you don't skip the gym, let’s connect. Comment or send me a direct message if you're interested!

TONY MOORE PRESENTS – AWAKE

AWAKE is the acclaimed one-man show from singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Tony Moore, whose remarkable career began as an original member of Iron Maiden before going on to perform with Meat Loaf and becoming the keyboard player for Cutting Crew (I Just Died in Your Arms).

Featuring 100% original music, the show is inspired by artists including Pink Floyd, Genesis, Elton John, The Beatles, Alice Cooper and Dire Straits. Combining powerful storytelling, virtuoso musicianship and immersive visuals, AWAKE is an unforgettable journey exploring truth, meaning and love in a world that often feels anything but.

The show has earned widespread support throughout the music industry. Iron Maiden founder Steve Harris has followed the project from its earliest days, served as executive producer of the AWAKE album, and invited Tony to open for British Lion on their sold-out UK tour before joining them as special guest across Australia, New Zealand, Japan, North America and South America.

Most recently, Tony Moore's AWAKE had the honour of opening Iron Maiden's EDDFEST at the legendary Knebworth Estate, becoming the very first act to perform at the band's landmark 50th anniversary celebration; a fitting full-circle moment in an extraordinary musical journey.

Now, Tony is delighted to bring AWAKE to The Bank, Art House for one performance only on August 26, 2026.

Don't miss this extraordinary evening of music, storytelling and world-class musicianship. Secure your tickets today.
