Why do so many people abandon tents?

Cheap tents, The insane rain and mud after a weekend of music, drink and drugs.

Lots of people just think fuck it and go home.

There's also a bit of a final-night tradition that you drink the rest of the alcohol you have and go feral, slashing, burning holes in, or otherwise destroying each other's tents.

But also, they're cheap tents that probably leaked all weekend, they probably have no real intention of camping again anytime soon.

It's shit, but it's been that way forever.

Is there anyway to opt out of getting your shit destroyed?

Go home on Sunday mostly! There is a calm/quiet campsite area which I think does avoid most of the destruction - but the teenagers never want to be in it, because it's mostly full of older people.

Also a lot of people travel for music festivals and it’s not like it’s easy to fly with a tent.

The percentage of people flying to reading/Leeds is so minute it barely registers.

Me and my friends did for 3 years straight! Met heaps of people there who also were from other countries. R&l can have one of the best Festival lineups in the world on any given year, and at the time it was £140 a ticket + £20 return Ryanair flight. To go to a local shitty arts festival it cost €200 so it was a no brainer for us

They'd have flown with it to get there.

you make the uber stop at walmart of what ever and pick up a cooler, ice food and everything else you need for the weekend. this stuff was bought to be disposable.

Incredibly wasteful and expensive. Things like this is why US credit card debt is at 1.26 trillion dollars.
