Is it? Tents cost money. 

Seems insanely wasteful, both environmentally and fiscally.

It's cheaper to buy a tent and then abandon it while getting to stay at the event then it would be to get accommodations and pay for transportation to and from.

Of course it's cheaper to stay on the grounds, but it's still a loss if you don't take the tent you paid for.

You mean like the hundreds of dollars in drugs and alcohol I'm going to consume over the four days of the festival? That kind of loss?

They're not going to miss a $50 tent.
