Thinking of renting in Littlehampton - thoughts?

Hi Everyone. I'm from Sussex originally (Steyning area), lived here for 22 years. and am needing to move back after being away for over 20 years to look after my Mum. I've been looking for lets around that area, and also Worthing, and further afield to Littlehampton.

There's been a few people say on groups and threads that Littlehampton is quite dodgy and somewhere to avoid. May I ask, in what respect? I've lived in inner SE London for a few years and would like to compare, as as you can appreciate, roughness or dodginess is quite a relative thing.

Would love to hear peoples views! Thanks so much :)

Young family moving to West Sussex - where to live

Hi all, hoping to jump in this thread and ask for some advice. I was born and raised in Horsham but moved out in 2009 to attend University and subsequently bought a house in Oxfordshire with my wife. Fast forward to now, we have a 3 yo and 1 yo and are considering moving closer to parents who live in a small village just outside Horsham.

Are there any places you'd recommend living for a young family? I know Horsham well but it'd be at the very upper most of our budget. Priorities for us are good schools, decent facilities (swimming pool for kids etc), safe, within reasonable drive (30 mins) of parents near Horsham.

Any advice would be welcomed. We plan to spend some time visiting each location to get a better feel for them.

Thank you!

Sussex researcher or community group worker? Helping with my UX dissertation (5 min survey)

Hey! 👋 I'm doing my dissertation on how researchers and community groups connect with each other, and I'd really appreciate it if you could spare 5 mins to fill out my survey. (If you've ever done research, even just for uni coursework, that counts — you'd fit the "researcher" category!) If you know anyone who does research or works with a community group/space, sharing it their way would help me so much too 🙏

Here's the link: https://app.onlinesurveys.jisc.ac.uk/s/brighton/idm90-research-community-spaces

Thank you!! 💛

Day out suggestions

I'm turning 35 and would like to have a special meal out/day out. I have young children, so even though I'd like to treat myself to something fancy, its just not going to work. Any suggestions around West Sussex/Surrey that both adults and children would enjoy? Either for just a meal or bonus if we can make it a a whole day out. Thanks

Car crash on a29 yesterday - can’t get it off my mind

Hi all, driving to my boyfriend yesterday and there was a car upturned and the entire front of it smashed up. I’m pretty sure it was whiteways lodge roundabout, just after a turn towards Chichester. It would have happened around 7.30pm give or take because I actually saw the ambulance drive past me.

It looked so awful and I honestly can’t take my mind off it, I just want to know that the person is ok. I’ve tried finding something about it but nothings been reported. I know it’s probably silly but it’s really affected me! Any info would be greatly received

Do you love animals?

Do you have at least 3 hours spare each week?

Do you enjoy keeping fit in the great outdoors?

If the answer is YES, why not join the Lotus family as a volunteer!! 💚💚💚

We’re looking for very special people to join the team who care for our 200+ residents.

This involves a healthy dose of hard work, often mucky and in all weathers - but with loads of love from the animals as the best reward

💚🐑🐐🐖🐴🐈‍⬛🦙🐔🐓🦃🦆💚

Some details:

- We are in West Sussex. We’re seeking REGULAR WEEKLY help 🙏

- For the next few months(ish) some of our residents will be on our old Ashington site; after that, all the animals will be on our Plaistow (near Billingshurst) site. So help is needed at both/either.

- You will need reliable transport to reach us!

- There is lifting, shifting and cleaning involved it’s physical stuff!

- Over 18s only (may consider over 16s with adult supervision)

- A regular weekly shift of around 3 hours is all we ask for - but you can do more!!

- It’s gets hot, cold, wet, dusty and all things in between….but the animals need daily care whatever the conditions.

- Come armed with gloves, sturdy shoes, a can-do attitude and a sense of humour!

‼️ If you’d like to apply to join our introduction session, please visit our website and complete a volunteer enquiry form‼️

The Lotus family is full of love and fun - come and join us!! 💚🙏💚

Two brothers from Horsham building a free meal planning app

Hey everyone! My brother and I are from Horsham and we’ve been working on a completely free meal planner that helps you plan your meals around your weekly food budget, where you shop and what you actually like eating.

We built it because we were fed up with spending loads on the weekly shop and still making the same meals every week.

We’re getting ready to launch at the end of this month and would love some local people to try it out!

If it sounds useful you can join our waitlist here

Feel free to DM me any questions and I’d be happy to answer!

Please help me get another 100 participants to get the UK to be a part of an international research study! (Approved by mods)

Hello everyone, I am a psychology student, and currently am at Cambridge University conducting research on AI. If you are 18, or older, and currently live in the UK, you would be eligible to participate.
The research is super fun, and contains a section that lets you converse with the AI for a couple of messages.

It would be very helpful if you have around 10 minutes to fill out this survey, and help the UK to be a part of this international research alongside 22 other countries.

Anyway, if you have any questions please don't hesitate to ask, I love talking about this stuff!

P.S. Please do not be confused about the link containing the 'princeton' part, since Princeton University is the one that provided us with the ethical approval.

Cheap barber Crawley

Hello! Any recommendations for a cheap barber in Crawley please? I am not local and don't want to pay £30+ for a quick going over my head and beard with a number one clipper.

Chichester Creative is here!

Chichester Creative is here!

A home for writers, readers, artists, filmmakers, philosophers, and creatives of all kinds.

Chichester Creative has been created to bring together creative people from across Chichester, West Sussex and beyond through regular in-person meetings, workshops, discussions, and social meetups.

The hope is to help people develop their creative interests, as well as bring together like-minded people who might otherwise never have met.

Our initial focus will be writing and storytelling in all forms, including novels, short stories, poetry, scripts, memoirs, creative non-fiction, and everything in between. Whether you're an experienced writer, complete beginner, or just someone who loves books, ideas and creativity, you're welcome here.

The longer term vision is to build something broader: a modern Republic of Letters. A place where creative people can meet, exchange ideas, support each other's work, build friendships, and contribute to a richer creative culture in the area.

Over time, I'd love to explore film discussions, philosophy evenings, salon-style discussions, guest speakers, workshops, talks, social meetups, and other opportunities to bring together creative people from different backgrounds and disciplines.

This subreddit serves as the community's meeting place whilst we organise our first in-person events.

Thinking of moving to Horsham

I'm approaching 30 and thinking that now might be a good time to get out of Brighton. I've spent some time in Horsham and like what I've seen but have no idea what it would be like to live there.

I've grown to hate the chaos of Brighton so would be looking for a quieter life, but still with some access to live music, sports, social groups, etc...

Any advice/thoughts would be very much appreciated.

Where to move to

Hi, I currently live in Worthing and am looking to move away, close by, somewhere quieter. What small towns nearby are nice places to live? I like Rustington and go there often but there's no station nearby. I am not looking to move to a little village. I love Chichester - any thoughts on there? Horsham is amazing but quite pricey....Let me know your thoughts, thank you!
