Prices are bad enough at a regular grocery store, but now I’m shopping at the local, all organic co-op because I can’t trust the food at freaking Albertsons. It’s ungodly expensive getting everything we need at the co-op, but the food all comes from local growers/producers within 300 miles of the store. Not sure how else to keep my family safe!

I used to answer the phone and the door, I would actually take the stupid polls (I felt bad for them) or talk to canvassers (I did a LOT of door knocking myself)....but something in me broke after the 2024 election.
Now? I never answer the phone or open the door unless it's my parents, husband, or kids. I'm Gen X and grew up with the landline phone basically glued to my ear.

I work in grocery supply side. Exactly this. You have cheap shitty businessed that pump shrimp full of water to increase weight, and low grade shrimp that are slightly irradiated so they don't make cuts.
You get lower grade cheeses because they were improperly stored and have been sitting in a moldy trailer for a while.
All of these can be purchased and distributed if you knock down regulation. And you'll be surprised how shitty some businesses are about caring for their consumer. I mean we literally have lead in Cinnamon and that's been going on for a while. Either they are using it to add to purchase weight or it's in their machinery only the cinnamon sticks have been uncontaminated

Exactly this. Regulations are written in blood (and piss, and mucous, and vomit, and shit, and tears) have usually come after multiple instances of, "We'll be good this time, pinky swear?" Followed by, "Uh, we'll co-sponsor an industry group that'll self-regulate." Then, "Is it really that bad, maybe they had a pre-existing condition that caused them to crap out a kidney." Then years of subcommittees, legal wrangling, and carve-outs for profitability, and finally we get half the protections we need and deserve. Only to see all that get ripped up because the most basic "don't kill your customers" safety standards were slightly inconvenient and less profitable.

In the stance of fairness: Because for all we know, it may only be very popular to report on as folks dislike the current administration a lot, which could just be driving clicks, right?
2018: Total Recalls 125 (20.55 Million pounds of food)
2019: Total Recalls 124 (20.43 Million Pounds of Food)
2020: Total Recalls 31 (1.46 million pounds of food)
2021: Total Recalls 47 (15.5 million pounds of food)
2022: Total Recalls 45 (1.77 million pounds of food)
2023: Total Recalls 65 (4 Million pounds of food)
2024: Total Recalls 34 (19.9 Million pounds of food)
2025: Total Recalls: 42 (71.42 Million pounds of food)
It's very hard to not notice that during the majority of the Biden years, food safety recalls were far lower than 2018/2019. 2020 is an outlier due to the pandemic, so I struck it. (Farmers were destroying lots of crops so food quality had a weird uptick it seems).
So, yeah... trend wise it's clear the Trump Administration's approach of "Less Regulation" means more unsafe food.
And we don't even have all of 2026's numbers in yet.
