Short Questions & Small Discussions for 2026-08-29 to 2026-09-11

Welcome to the weekly thread for all bite-sized content you don't want to make a full post about! Short rules questions! Funny or cool moments from your last game! Weird bits of lore that the writers hid in sidebars! It's a real potpourri.

Generally, a good metric for whether something belongs here or in its own submission is whether it's running for a couple sentences or a couple paragraphs. Note that comments here are sorted by new, as well - but we ask that if your comment didn't get attention, that you *not* re-comment it in the same submission.

Weekly LFG/LFP for 2026-08-29 to 2026-09-11

Welcome to this week's game corner! Whether you're a storyteller spinning up a new game or a group that wants to fill out its ranks; whether you're a hometown table or an online game with players on every continent, here's where you put your post-its up.

Please note the following - comments that don't follow this etiquette may be removed:

  • Top-level comments must be a game ad.
  • Absolutely no pay-to-play games.
  • You must list the game(s) being played as the first line of your post, eg. MTR + Orpheus for that crossover you've never been able to get players for. Please don't overstylize these to the point of illegibility, but feel free to use games' three-letter abbreviations or their full titles as you desire. It may also help to indicate whether a game is using World of Darkness or Chronicles of Darkness books, for the benefit of readers less versed in the various publications.

Additionally, note that the moderation team does not vet or endorse comments here in any capacity beyond what is applied to normal posts plus the above stipulations. That is to say, if you join a game and have a downright rancid time, please don't make this space a problem because of it.

CTD [Art] Seelie and Unseelie, watercolor illustration

Post image
Upvotes

"I've never told an evil lie before. Only the innocent ones... Small lies, little white untruths. I've told my best friend her new haircut was lovely. My father believes his jokes are funny. If everyone is happy, then it is fine. But everytime I look myself on the mirror I can feel her, deep inside of me, whispering... Telling me what to say. Her lies are vicious. Manipulative and so, so cruel. And the worst part is... They all seem so much fun to say!"
An watercolor illustration I've made of CtD, the disturbing and fragile balance between Seelie and Unseelie of the fae. I hope you all like this one! :D

VTM I've been reading the Dark Ages Tzimisce Clan Novel and had to draw this obscure canon character, so here's Ioan Brancoveanu - the Hammer of the Tremere

VTM5 Absolutely insane question, but what repercussions would there be if a kindred ate a black spiral dancer?

Like i'm not talking a lil sip of blood, though if that's safer I guess??? My Malkavian is straight up a cannibal, and there's a black spiral dancer that's ruining his life, nearly killed his girlfriend, and now my character's best friend/coterie member nearly lost an arm to the thing. He's probably gonna wanna get a lil om nom action on this mangey werewolf after we find enough silver to kill it.

This sounds like a TERRIBLE idea though, how fucked would he be???

WTA Peoples always thinking of Batman being a Kindred in WoD, but what about Batman being a Camazotz in WoD?

Post image
116 Upvotes

Now granted, this does require some changes to Camazotz and Bat's lore to make it possible in modern time. Like: Naturally born Camazotz were possible but super rare and was why the ritual with Bat was need. Or Bat giving his children the ability to create new Camazotz without him as a final act before he fully fell to the Wyrm.

Anyway, what kind of Gifts would a Camazotz Batman have? Would he be able to create Fetishes? How would the Shadow Lords react to a Camazotz being alive in modern time? How would Garou and other Feras view Gotham because you can not convive me that hell hole is not fill to the brim with Banes.

WTA5 I wanna be a werebear, sooo freaking bad.

Okay, song title aside. I'm playing Werewolf the Apocalypse, and my DM has approved me to play a Werebear, but I'm trying to work out how to properly stat one or create one. How should I go about doing this, obviously will work with my DM on this as I'm very not on board with doing some crazy power exploits.

MTAs Mage the ascensions politics feel more relatable to me

While I do like vtm, I could never get into it as it felt hard to relate to the kindred. Especially with the politics of the clans and factions. I understand why people like the politics of the vampires. But I couldn’t get into it as it didint feel relatable at all. But I guess that’s the point since there vampires who have way different views compared to humans.

But one of the things I like about mage is that despite there powers, their still human in terms of there thinking process for better and for worse. It is probably because I was a poly sci major in college so this is right up my alley.

As the technocracy and traditions feel a bit more relatable cause like any human they have certain views how to better humanity and achieve a better world. Though have way differing ideologies amongst each other and their sub-factions. Not to mention the flaws all ideologies possess. Since one man’s Utopia is another dystopia.

Thats one of the reason I like mage. As you’re fighting to shape consensus in your image and having to deal with the challenges and problems that comes with that. However, the traditions and technocracy despite there flaws still desire to protect humanity from other nightfolk, nepdhandi, and marauders. Showing that while they are rivals, they still understand occasionally they need to put there differences aside to stop threats from harming the sleepers.

Mage is a game of politics in a philosophical sense and needing to comprise with others to an extent when a bigger threats shows there head.

DTF Do you like your Reconcilers/Integrators the "seeking to make up for past evil" vibe or the "utterly terrified of going back to prison" vibe?

I'm more interested in the original Demon the Fallen but I don't mind also hearing takes about the equivalent in Descent, the Integrators.

Far as I know these are the Demon factions/agendas:

Cryptics/Inquisitors are most interested in uncovering the mysteries of Heaven/Godmachine

Raveners/Saboteurs are trying to destroy as much as they can in order to destroy Heaven/create Hell

Tempters/Faustians just seek out their own long term happiness and security on Earth.

Reconcilers/Integrators don't want to really rebel anymore and are hoping for forgiveness.

But for the last peeps I see super different interpretations ranging from "They see how dark the world is and feel responsible because they rebelled against God way back then so they want to make amends as best they can" to "They're just scared of God putting them back in the Abyss and are really the most evil faction because they're betraying the rebellion."

Come to think of it, what's the equivalent of the Abyss for the Unchained?

But anyway, and yes I can predict the answer "why not both?" or "matter of individual characters"

I'm asking for your own takes on which is preferable and what you think makes the most interesting chronicles.

Share your own chronicles stuff if relevant.

VTM Help with costume Resonances

iI'm working on a back port of v5 hunger system to v20 and I'm trying to figure out what Resonance Visceratika should be, I generally don't like the Vicissitude animal blood too and we have a Tizmisce in the coterie. I figured I'd use the Toronto by night expanded Resonances as a good base. but its one Unique option(outside of its bomb ass name changes for dead and animal blood that I'm stealing) Mercurial doesn't feel right for either, though it does feel right for our True Brujah. So I'm looking for suggestions of possible new Resonances for the listed disciplines, but also any ideas for others are welcome and encouraged. Visceratika is the one really stumping me as Vicissitude has some ok but not great options like Mercurial and the Core Sanguine Resonance

What are some of the most cringe things in classic WoD that you've come across?

The one that really stands out to me is there is a high level Technocrat living in a Las Vegas penthouse that literally bought a developmentally disabled 17 year old Thai girl that he keeps as a sexual pet.

WTA5 Tribal hauglosk for W6?

Since V6 introduced the concept of clan Frenzy (and to a lesser extent compulsion from v5), I wonder if it could be translated to W6 (assuming it comes out in the first place) into tribal hauglosk?

There's some presdence for this concept since the cancelled hunter entertainment of W5 has explored this concept as this excerpt from an ex developer patron has shown:

The Ghreena* of the Glass Walkers is the sterilization of the Wyld.

The Glass Walkers flip the usual narrative of the Triat represented by Garou on its head, suggesting that the Wyld is at fault for driving the Weaver mad, which resulted in its machinations on the Wyrm. They will turn the tools of the Weaver on the Wyld with intent, building dams that provide "clean energy" while destroying ecosystems, genetically modifying crops to make them more durable against weather and pests, or creating low carbon footprint technologies which require mining operations that poison animals, people, and waterways. Many Glass Walkers favor terraforming the "undesirable" aspects of Gaia, such as deserts, by diverting waterways and creating solar panel fields that make these spaces more hospitable for humanity. They might claim that these actions are made out of a need for progress, but they seek out the sterilization of unstable qualities in the environment.

*the cancelled edition term for hauglosk.

Besides the Glass Walkers going full techbros,I wonder what other forms tribal hauglosk would be. Like I imagine, the sliver fangs would fall under a Quixotesque delusion. Usually Not in the sense that they sense of reality is so warped that that they see they world as a fantasy novel but more that they believe and act like they're the protagonist of they story and are prone to hysterics to things that might contest that notation.

If nothing else, this version of hauglosk is much more flavor than W5 version and would be much more interesting system. Especially if you use v6's Forsaken inspired humanity system as a replacement for w5 hauglosk and harano bars.

WoD What splat should i make my players i had a hilarious idea for a game but i lack a gameline to set it in

Essentially, you're in the Taiping Rebellion, the current objective?

Survive

However i lack a splat to set it in, i could always go Kuei Jin, but i feel like that's predictable, and somewhat boring, therefore I'm vexed

VTM How big should SAD and other hunter groups be?

I remember reading in one of the older books that SAD consisted of about 3 field teams, which reads to me as about 30 members plus maybe some specialists and leadership. However, in the recent lore I understand that SAD has received a boost in resources thanks to schrechnet and the IAO and first light and yada yada. This boost in resources allowed them to broaden their scope of operations to the point that they even occasionally provide special agents to international cases as specialists. So would that be like 60 or so agents, keeping in mind they usually use local police and swat teams to their advantage. Beyond that, I imagine first light would be the smallest America based government org in the coalition since they are mostly there for organization and have limited firepower outside of WHITEHORSE. The IAO has a hundred navy seals working for them among other soldiers, which would definitely make them the biggest. Which makes sense, it is the US MILITARY. The arcanum has got to have hundreds upon hundreds of members considering they operate globally and have chapter houses all over the place. They’re also old and are being backed by hermetics, so I’m sure that helps.

CTD Thoughts on kingdom of willows?

While I thought the metaplot story of David going missing to be odd. I did like the layout of the kingdom and how changelings in the American South act. What did you guys think?

CTD Did you ever include Arcadian mortals in your games?

When reading changeling I heard of Arcadian sidhe who ripped out the souls of mortals during the resurgence so they can inhabit their bodies. With the unfortunate human ending up in the deep dreaming.

Have you ever included Arcadian mortals in your games?

WoD (Triatic Thought Experiment) Prion diseases are...

...an immensely destructive and cruel disease that causes life to agonizingly wither away, and are thus of the Wyrm?

...a self-replicating geometric structure that is functionally inert when not duplicating itself, all telltale signs of the Weaver?

...an uncontrollable and unpredictable threat to human civilization, as one might expect from something spawned from Wyld influence?

...a natural phenomenon that appears to primarily arise as a self-correction mechanism for overpopulation, and thus Gaian?

...or a malicious fiction by the Technocracy to deny humanity the medical benefits of raw venison?

- Sincerely, not a Ratkin with a sack full of cow brains of questionable provenance

WoD STs: Scale of 1 to 5, 1 being "barely important, if at all" and 5 being "the most important, perhaps only reason" How important is horrifying your players to you? Why? How do you horrify them?

I've literally never STed before but as a player I like the horror elements I've seen so far in terms of reading the lore and experiencing the game.

But personally I think it's more like the second most important feeling to convey, second to the character drama. If I had to pick between them I like exploring the character dynamics of Garou and Changelings, them interacting with their world at large.

The horror is kinda part of what deepens the characters and world though.

I like the emphasis on disturbing and and threatening and gory stuff that the PCs have to deal with just as a matter of surviving much less achieving their goals in life.

Other players at my table agree with this more or less and the ST she seems to plan and run things with that in mind.

So I'm wondering about other STs philosophies but players can chime in to if it's relevant.

How important is the horror in chronicles?

How/why do you provoke/like that kinda horror?

Any particularly horrifying experiences in your chronicles, intentionally or not?

I’ve wondering what spheres and instruments and even merits it would take to make a Soul Reaper inspired mage, also how would an ichigo like character look like in mage or other gamelines
