Question Albania - no ads on YouTube?
first of all, is this true? secondly, where do I find it? I have the paid version of the service and have no idea where it is. not finding Europe on the list.

Hi everyone,
I’m having trouble connecting to Windscribe while using the Wi-Fi at a public library.
Regular connection methods don’t seem to work, and Stealth mode also won’t connect, regardless of which port I try. I’ve tested multiple ports, but I still can’t establish a connection.
Is this expected behavior on some public/library Wi-Fi networks? Could the network be blocking or interfering with the type of traffic Stealth mode uses? I also tried all ports.
I’ve already sent a debug log to Windscribe Support so they can hopefully see what’s happening if they see it.
In the meantime, is there anything else I can try on my end? For example, are there specific Stealth ports/settings that tend to work better on restrictive public Wi-Fi?
Any suggestions or experiences with library/public Wi-Fi would be appreciated. Thanks!

I’ve been using and recommending Windscribe for almost a decade, largely because they used to be exceptionally customer friendly.
Now I’m wondering if that philosophy has changed.
My annual subscription was cancelled after a PayPal payment was rejected due to a geolocation issue. I fixed the payment issue, but Garry, Windscribe’s new chatbot, told me the payment could not be reissued. My only option was to buy a new subscription at the current price.
No human support. No escalation. (And I tried to escalate it for over an hour).
I could move along, but I’ve also seen other long time customers report the same thing with legacy $10/year plans. Plans that were previously renewed through support are now being refused, with customers told to purchase at the current price.
From a revenue perspective, I can understand why a company might want to move old customers onto current pricing.
But is squeezing more revenue out of long time customers worth losing the loyalty and goodwill that made those customers recommend Windscribe for years?
I personally recommended Windscribe to colleagues and family because of how they treated customers in the past.
Now the customer experience feels completely different.
Has Windscribe decided that higher subscription revenue is more valuable than keeping its long term customers happy?

I pay for Windscribe specifically for the Taiwan location, but it's been down for two weeks now with no notice at all. There's no information anywhere about whether they're aware of the issue, why it's happening, or if and when it will be fixed—yet I'm still paying for it. It's impossible to get through to support. The Garry AI bot is useless and provides no helpful information, and when I emailed [support@windscribe.com](mailto:support@windscribe.com), they just told me to use Garry. I sent a second email specifically asking to speak to a human, but that's been ignored for four days now. I doubt I'll get a reply here either. What is this?

I have a $10/year Pro plan (the 'putin' deal) from exchanging my free plan, and I have successfully renewed it with crypto by contacting support in 2024 and again in 2025.
My current Pro period ends at the end of August 2026, so I contacted Garry to renew it again using the same process.
Garry is now refusing to renew the plan and is telling me that the $10 plan is no longer available (which is correct for new users) and that I need to purchase Pro at the current price instead. I’ve tried discussing this with Garry, but it is not helping me resolve the issue or escalate it to human support no matter how much I have tried.
Windscribe’s support guidance for the deal has always said the $10/year plan could be renewed each year by contacting support when using a one-time payment/crypto.
I would appreciate any help in renewing my plan, many thanks.

I was thinking about getting the deal that's going on from windscribe and I was wondering if the service work from the US to Japan meaning I live in the US and I want to use the servers in Japan for Netflix I went through the history and a lot of things have been like over a year or two years ago I'm trying to figure out what the state is of using windscribe and Netflix with the Japan servers TIA

Windscribe's Back to School sale is live. Use code EDUMCATE to get Pro for $39/year. The sale ends on September 14.
Source: https://windscribe.com/blog/windscribe-promo-codes/
For those who don't know yet: If you buy Windscribe at a discounted price using a recurring payment method like credit card or PayPal, it’ll renew every year at that same discounted price until you decide to cancel.

Is this egress-only? The site's bot mentioned that inbound IPv6 tunnel connections aren't supported. That’s disappointing given how widespread CGNAT is, especially since a native connection offers better stability.

If I have a Windows laptop and use Chrome as my browser, is the Windscribe Chrome Extension enough? Or should I also be using the Windscribe Windows App as well? How much does it actually matter?
Thanks!

Hi,
The Taiwan location has been showing as "under maintenance" (or unreachable) for more than 3 days now. I am a paid user located in Mainland China and usually rely on this node with the WSTunnel protocol.
Could you please advise when the Taiwan server will be back online?
Thanks!

First, huge thank you to Windscribe team - I love the VPN, I love your open policy and open audit. I have couple small features I would love to see, maybe (I hope) I am not the only one
custom DNS
I use controlD (btw absolutely amazing) on my router, phones, etc... I would love if its possible to use custom DNS in Windscribe Chrome Plugin
Windscribe non-DNS Blocker/Privacy features ON/OFF
I really do like all of the Blocker/Privacy features, that said it looks like turning VPN on/off does not turn these on/off. In another words there is no global button "turn the whole plugin off". There are websites once a while I struggle on and end up fiddling with all settings just see which one broke the site.
keep up the amazing work, I love your partnership with companies like controlD

Good Koala has taken a bait (again). Barely getting any data throughput. Change to any other Australian node and it's fine.

I had a shared pro account which wasn't even mine and i was using it on my PC, after the subscription ended and the free data ended by other users. I switched to my main free tier account because it has 15gb of data.
even after multiple uninstalling via different uninstallers, it recognizes me again. I even deleted appdata windscribe folders. And It still recognizes me. Idk wtf this software is doing on my pc.
Its laughable that how foolish the app's logic is; The previous account was not even mine. (I know this is illegal but the logic is still foolish)

And their Harry bot couldn't help me and give no info about situation.
just say hashed account have no email assigned to account.
Hashed account have no email so i can't use it anymore and can't message to support directly.

Hey all,
Posting here because I've hit a wall with support and I'm hoping either the community or someone from the Windscribe team can point me in the right direction.
Back in August 2020 I redeemed a free promo voucher that granted 50GB/month (receipt #9126262, applied 2020-08-12). I never touched the account much since, and when I logged back in recently I found it had been silently downgraded to the standard Free plan (10GB), with no email, no in-app notice, nothing.
I went through the support chatbot (Garry) to ask what happened. Here's the gist of what I got:
• It confirmed the voucher was applied on 2020-08-12 and is "no longer active."
• It could not confirm what the original terms of that voucher were.
• It could not confirm whether any notification was ever sent before the downgrade.
• When I pushed back with a written, numbered breakdown of my complaint (asking it to log a formal dispute and escalate to a human agent), it acknowledged each point individually but then flatly refused to route it to a person, saying a human agent "couldn't restore it either" and that this "isn't a case-by-case decision an agent can make."
That last part is what's bugging me most — the contact support page literally says Garry will route you to the team if needed, but in my case it just... didn't, no matter how I phrased the request.
I get that a 2020 giveaway code isn't the same tier of promise as the old 2016-2018 "lifetime" 50/60GB vouchers that got reinstated after the whole controversy in 2023. I'm not asking for a permanent Pro plan for free. But I never got any warning that this was on a countdown, and I think that's a fair thing to flag — especially since the bot itself admitted it couldn't prove otherwise.
Has anyone dealt with a similar "relief code" downgrade from around the same period? Did anyone manage to actually get a human to look at it, or get some kind of goodwill gesture (partial discount, small data bump, anything)? Mostly just want to know if this is a lost cause or if there's an actual channel that works better than the chat widget.
Thanks in advance.

Looks like some cruise ships are using DPI to block regular WG VPN's. However AmneziaWG is not blocked. Is there any way to generate a Windscribe .conf file with an Amnezia 1.0 or 2.0 connection?

Hello! I posted this on Discord but I figured I'd post it here too since I'm not sure where you watch. The faulty network detection was the original issue, but the misinformation in Garry and the brick wall I ran into in trying to find support became a larger problem for my migration.
## Context
I was recommended Windscribe by Kagi and genuinely want to support them — pricing is comparable to PIA, which I currently use. But to switch, Windscribe needs to be at least at parity with PIA on core functionality. The trial session below (support chat with an agent named Garry) surfaced several issues, ranked here by severity/priority.
## Issues (in priority order)
### 1. The entire support path is circular — there is no way to reach a ticket or a person
When I explicitly said "I need to talk to a person, and they need to see this transcript," the agent's response was: *"A person cannot change that layout from this chat, and I can't submit a feedback ticket for it."* No ticket number, email address, or handoff mechanism was offered.
I then traced the app's own escalation path by hand, and it is **100% circular — it never terminates in a person or a filed ticket**:
In-app **Help** offers only links to **Reddit** or **Discord**.
**Discord** points to `https://windscribe.com/help\`.
That page, at the very bottom, has a **"Contact Support"** button.
Clicking it goes back to **Garry** — the same chatbot that started this loop and already admitted it can't file a ticket or escalate.
So a user with a confirmed reproducible bug (below) and a working transcript of both the bug and the agent's own repeated errors has no route out of the bot. Every path — in-app, Reddit, Discord, and the website's own "Contact Support" button — dead-ends back at the same non-escalating chatbot. This isn't just a missing feature; it's a closed loop that actively prevents bug reports and transcripts like this one from ever reaching a human. This is being flagged first because it blocks resolution of every other issue below.
### 2. No network switch detected after >12 hrs on a different network
Windscribe continued to treat a Wi-Fi network I hadn't been connected to in over 12 hours (and was 5+ miles away from) as my current network, and was actively applying its Auto-Secure rule based on that stale network identity — not just displaying stale history in Network Options.
This is a correctness bug, not a cosmetic one: the app was applying network-specific security rules based on a network state that was badly out of date. PIA does not exhibit this behavior — it reliably detects network changes.
**Reproduction context:** Windows 11 desktop, Windscribe 2.23.12. Confirmed via support chat that the app was treating the stale network as *current* (applying Auto-Secure), not merely retaining it in a list.
**Workaround identified (not a fix):** Fully quitting Windscribe from the system tray and reopening it causes it to correctly re-identify the current network. This confirms the bug is stale in-app network state, not a Windows-level networking issue.
**Why "quit and restart" is not an acceptable answer:** missing the initial Windows network-change event is one thing, but the app should be lazily polling and reconciling its network state in the background — correcting itself within a few minutes even after missing the initial event. Instead it appears to never self-correct, persisting the stale state indefinitely (12+ hours and counting) until forced to restart.
### 3. Support agent (Garry) didn't know where to find the software version, and repeatedly gave wrong instructions
When asked where to find the Windscribe app version, the support agent gave three separate wrong answers in sequence before landing on a correct one:
First claimed it was in **Preferences → General, near the bottom**. It is not — there is no such Preferences screen in this build.
When corrected, backtracked and said to check the **Help menu → About Us**. This just opens a link to the website, not an in-app version display.
Then suggested the **window title or update banner**, or the **Changelog** page as possibly showing it. Also incorrect/unconfirmed.
Only on the fourth attempt, after I said I needed to escalate to a human, did the agent correctly point to **Windows Settings → Apps → Installed apps → Windscribe** (and even then got the exact menu label wrong — it's "Installed apps," not "Apps").
This is a bot/agent-training gap: basic "where is my version number" is a top-tier support question and the agent had no reliable answer.
### 4. The software version cannot be found anywhere in the actual app
Independent of the agent's fumbling, this is a genuine product/UX bug: the Windscribe Windows app itself has **no "About Windscribe" screen anywhere in its UI**, despite having Status, About Us, Terms, Software Licenses, Changelog, Knowledge Base, and Debug Log entries. "About Us" under Help just redirects out to the marketing website instead of showing installed version info in-app.
The only way to find the installed version is to leave the app entirely and check **Windows Settings → Apps → Installed apps**. Every other sane application surfaces its version in an About dialog inside the app itself. This should be a trivial fix (add version number to an existing screen, e.g. Preferences or a real About panel) and it's surprising it's missing.
(For reference, the installed version at time of testing was **2.23.12**, confirmed only via Windows' Installed Apps list.)
### 5. Support agent treated "restart the app" as an acceptable fix for something that Just Works in PIA
When I pushed back that "quit and restart" is a workaround, not a fix, for something that should self-correct automatically, the agent agreed in principle but had no actual remediation to offer beyond suggesting I try the **2.24 beta** — while explicitly admitting it couldn't confirm the beta actually fixes stale Wi-Fi identification. This is a symptom of #2 not having any real ownership internally: the front-line support path terminates at "try the workaround" or "try an unverified beta," not at an actual fix or escalation to engineering.
## Summary ask
I'd like this transcript escalated to a human, and I'd like to know:
- What is the actual, non-circular process for a trial user to file a bug report or reach a human — since Help → Reddit/Discord → windscribe.com/help → Contact Support currently just loops back to the bot?
- Is #2 (stale network state / no background reconciliation) a known issue, and is there an actual fix (not just "try the beta")?
- Can the app version be added to a real in-app About screen?

I noticed that several of Windscribe server locations route through DataCamp Limited (AS60068 / DataPacket).
Given that many major VPN providers such as NordVPN, ExpressVPN, Surfshark, ProtonVPN, Mullvad, CyberGhost, PIA, and IPVanish also use DataCamp or DataPacket for underlying network infrastructure, many websites flag Datacamp IP addresses versus the more obsecure IP addresses that make it "less obvious" you're using a VPN.
How does Windscsribe ensure user privacy and prevent data retention on third-party server hosts like DataCamp?
Sure, if they keep a no logs policy is the best, but when an IP address prevents one from accessing their website because you're using a known Datacamp IP address, how is that helpful?
