These I bought in 2019. My 2 pairs of thorogoods I’ve bought in the last 2 years have not held up nearly as well as these. They don’t make them like they used to
same, mine always end up looking like sad slippers after a resole lol
this pair actually gives me hope that it’s possible to keep the shape if the cobbler knows what they’re doing
I suppose that’s way cheaper than buying a whole brand new pair of $300 work boots.
I recently got these new pair of Keens as a warranty replacement for my old busted up hiking boot-style carbon toe Keens (Arvada mids). I haven’t gotten a chance to wear them for a full day yet, but from the times I have worn them, they are extremely comfortable and pretty light weight.
Some places you get boot voucher for me it makes more sense for a new pairs vs a resole unless I'm paying out of pocket. They don't pay for a resole or rebuild it's a new pair or nothing.
I don’t have cobblers around but I have a post office so I went the Nu-Shoe route this year on an 8 year old pair of Thorogoods. Well worth looking into. Not the cheapest but they do good work with OEM or alternative soles. Replaced some ninja shoes where the defined heel was gone and got wedges.
I just get new boots at least once a year. 1) Im a refrigeration mechanic so I can spend a day in -15 degrees or 130 on a roof or both all day, really hard on boots. 2) sometimes it takes a few hours to get to a job, smelly boots on the trip sucks. 3) I havent paid for boots 15+ years, company does, $300 stipend
Get darn touch merino wool socks, they’re thin, comfy breath, and you can wear them a two to three days before a wash. They don’t pick up smell. I bought a few pairs 8 years ago and they still are perfect. They will cost 25$ a pair, at least when I bought them, but honestly best money I’ve ever spent
The only thing that makes these boots look Super Bad is any other sole than the one they came with. Thiis Vibe looks super nice and extra stylish on a boot I love to hate. I swear by this sole for work and the Dianites for my dressers.
funny how much the sole changes the whole vibe, right
i used to hate these too but with that resole they suddenly look like something i’d actually wear
Is there anything your cobbler replaces besides the sole, do you know? I resoled 2 pairs of thorogoods and they both hurt my feet and ultimately gave up on them. Cost me 80 each with a vibram sole
Pretty sure its plantar fasciitis because I would wake up with foot pain for the first steps upon waking up. Throughout the day my feet would hurt along my whole underside.
I changed boots to a new pair of Georgia's and that took away most of my pain.
The thorogood sole is different. It’s a lot harder and more durable imo than the vibram and made of different materials. Maybe your foot doesn’t like the vibram Christy sole
Whats the interior wear like? Im hunting new boots and i wear the inside of the back heel more than anything in my boots. And thats with using a shoehorn.
I cant size my boot down because I need a wide fit, fyi.
Yes I use for work, but I wear other boots when I’m in bad conditions. I brush them daily and rotate and wipe them weekly or sometimes scrub with a brush too if they’re really dirty
